I don't know about USA, but in the UK capital gains tax might be another factor to consider Coins made by the royal mint are considered currency and therefore CGT free whereas generic rounds would be eligible for CGT This is only an issue if you make something like a profit of over £12,500 in one year however so for small purchases this wont matter Comment from : paul craig |
I like your spread sheet approach I would like you see you add constitutional / junk silver to such a comparison Comment from : catherine yronwode |

What happens if silver drops and one decides to sell? Comment from : michael ferman |
My only thing is, why are you going with such high numbers? Why not use more realistic numbers that your viewers might be buying at Or would that make a difference? Comment from : Cesar Madrigal |
This was very helpful for me I was more comfortable for buying the premiums coins But the use of buying round in being a better deal was really eye opening In listening to other You Tube silver stackers I was influence because of the advantage of the better quality that a sovereign nation gives in minting their coins Also I was led to believe it would easier to sell the Silver eagles than the rounds I have gotten the Buffalo rounds, don't trend on me rounds I guess to make me more comfortable in buying rounds is know the better mints to trust or dealers who are in the know JH Comment from : John Huntt |

what are you talking about???? you are using ridiculous hypothetical numbers and of course the higher you go the larger the spread!!! what was the purpose of all this ridiculous hypothetical stuffheres the bottom line rounds are a better investment due to premiums!!! Wasnt that easy? Comment from : SuperDitti555 |
If silver spot goes to $100 that Eagles premium will be no more than $2 an ounce IMHO Comment from : Silver Man |

Thank you! Comment from : Pastor LeRoy Morris, Answers for America |

Yes, what you are saying makes sense, although given the opportunity to buy Krugerrand, Britannia & possibly others at under $4 over spot which is close to Round prices you would be stupid not to do this I just purchased several premium coins under $4 over spot your video is a year old now and things have changed, the Eagles which are always very much over spot I agree are somewhat risky and not tied closely to spot silver pricing and are more of a collectable coin unless you were lucky to have purchased them a while back Comment from : AmmoMaster |

Real USA coinage must have 3 phrases on it "Liberty, In God we Trust and United States of America" and can only be Silver or Gold wouldn't trust Platinum Also a Green Back paper in not really a USA Dollar, it's just a piece of paper with Dollar marked on it so notice at the top of the green paper it states it's just a Corporate "Federal Reserve Note" You see a real dollar is Silver with the 3 phrases mention earlier Comment from : z planetx |

Silver is silver The only real reason to buy premium coins is for the added peace of mind Comment from : Ryan T |

The only reason I'm buying isn't to make moneyits to use in case of economic collapse in which case the people I'll be dealing with will not care about the premium coins they'll just care about the silver It all melts the same I've only bought rounds Comment from : Cavemantero |
Newbie here Could the flaw here is you are leaving out demand on the sell side? Something maybe be a better value, but markets are psychological and demand driven If I sell I see a dealer saying "not interested in your rounds because my customers aren't" Comment from : MC6Jumper |

In a SHTF scenario no one is going to care if you have premium coins as most folks will be using gold/silver coins at current face value in lieu of cash Better to just get the generic but highly tradeable coins over special circulation coins that will be a waste of money Comment from : David Dearmond |
I’m just going to say that good old saying If it sounds to good to be true it probably is And you should always be cautious with things that are free They end up costing you a whole lot when all is said and done I could be wrong but my spider senses are going off This guy is talking to fast, not only that it just doesn’t add up or make sense According to this guys own math/chart/strategy why would he waste his time and money buying premiums at all when according to his own math the best thing to do would be to only buy rounds Right? Or I’m just stupid and missed something big time? Please let me know what I’m getting wrong? With that I say to everyone reading this to always keep your guard up and protect yourselves at all times and shalom Comment from : anthony moctezuma |

so based on that data do coin dealers rather buy generic than premium coins? Comment from : Phantom Vasqman |
Great Information I do recall watching your earlier video and it really opened my eyes Ever since that original video, I have kept my eyes not only on the type of silver one is acquiring, but also the premiums, and specifically how much of it you can expect to get back when it has to be sold I do like sovereign coins as I think they do provide a little more comfort in knowing that you have good genuine government issues and backed silver and gold Frequently, if you shop all the well known online dealers, one can pick up a tube of silver Britannias for almost the same price, and often times cheaper than buffalo rounds I have done this myself recently I guess they were just low on buffalo stock, but had lots of britannia's to move Thanks for the spreadsheet, I'll definitely use it Also, based on the tax issues, I guess one should keep good records of what they are buying, when they are buying it, spot price and premium at the time of the purchase, dates, qty etc Can you suggest a good application that's free or cheap that can keep that info all in one place? It would be nice if it would also keep current pricing to show real time profit or loss on each purchase Thanks again for the videos Comment from : optionstraderdan |

In 2023, the premium on Eagles is out of control Comment from : ThinkingOutLoud |

Thank you very much I've been wondering about this subject for quite a while and was thinking the same thing but thought that some would prefer the gov minted coinage for transactions I've ended with both as well as quite a bit of "junk" silver picked up at face value Thanks for the information and conformation Great help Comment from : David Prewitt |

Great work SS brThe math is set in stone Now the only consideration is liquidity What means more to you accounting for shifts in the market Comment from : Primus Fan |
MAIN THING I ALWAYS TOUT THESE DAYS IS TO GET THE MOST SILVER AT THE LOWEST PREMIUM OVER SPOT PRICE PERIOD Since mid 2020, I have only been seeking lowest premium over spot, and typically that is with silver kilo bars For those of you small-minded that think kilos are hard to sell, please go burn your cash and buy eagles LOL Comment from : MrBluegrassfiddler |

All good info, however when you need to sell its usually due to a need to get $$ quickly It WILL BE HARDER to sell the generic silver OR coins made outside the Country you reside in (Trying to sell in) Usually your local coin shop will want to purchase local Premium coins not the other Somthing to consider as well Comment from : Dan Bodily |
I stack both, but I always buy my premium on sale, which is almost always very close to the same, maybe ten or twenty cents more per oz Comment from : Saxon Warrior |
Nicely done Thank you for sharing and confirming the great debate! Keep on stacking 🇺🇸👍🏽 Comment from : Sunjestersilver 999 |
I've been buying Britannias almost exclusively lately When they are on sale (which seems to be very often) they are usually less than 1 more premium per oz My last purchase for a relatively small order was $314 over spot per ounce Comment from : DJ |
As of 2023 I disagree with both "premium" and "sell premium" for the eagles Comment from : A |
It depends on what the end point of your ownership isbrAre you planning on selling it at a coin shop a couple at a time as you need the money?brAre you planning on selling it all at once after a super surge?brAre you planning on giving it to your children? And what are their plans to offload it?brMy theory is to buy the largest silver bars available and pass them along to children and grand children and great grandchildrenbrThere is only so much silver in the ground Consumption of silver in industries is tremendous It will skyrocket in value in 100 years timebrIf you are concerned about selling a giant bar of silver and how they can check purity, you can buy an xray gun for 800 bucks to pass on to your inheritors with the silver Comment from : Stuart Hollingsead |
In Europe ALL american coins are 50 premium and britannia and other are generic, even kangaroo or leaf is in normal generic kruger price :) Comment from : pogo pogo |
