May sound like a weird question but who back fills the holes and are they marked for possible future digs?

Comment from : Dayna Rathman

*Sweet Chicago GaToR*
Why is the land Barren of trees? Not even a single tree ! Is this due to the lack of sunlight?

Crystal Hilliard
I absolutely love and respect all of Time Team Is it only me I got annoyed with Francis, kept on directing and asking for more and more digging from TT, specially Phil If Francis had to break his back and knees actually digging and cleaning all the trenches he wanted to open upI don't think it would have went above the usual 3 trenches I tried to understand his passion and excitement is only towards Bronze age BUT it didn't work If I was Phil I would have handed Francis a shovel and trowel! lol jsin'🤣
Comment from : Crystal Hilliard

Winston Lucas
I used to love this program! I just can’t stomach Tony’s personality
Comment from : Winston Lucas

dat2ra
Dang! Your excavators work fast
Comment from : dat2ra

Jane Gilmore
LMAO @ Francis putting Stewart to work Damn fog, cos Stewart would’ve been hiding in the skies LOL No trees to hide in
Comment from : Jane Gilmore

promontorium
Living up on that hilltop while trading across sea meant they could see boats from miles away coming or going Their earthworks not only protected them from other people, but 3,000 years ago there were still wolves and wildcats in Ireland, which are not so likely to attack people, but could have killed their livestock
Comment from : promontorium

Kris P
ditch lords the drinking game
Comment from : Kris P

carolyn hague
This programme is ruined by putting crap music on originalplease post original music free version
Comment from : carolyn hague

Deborah Baker
It seems a shame to dig up that ground because it’s so beautiful out there with buildings going up all the time and construction almost everywhere you look something like that is really nice to see‼️
Comment from : Deborah Baker

Djed i
Of course you need a good defense system, since anybody can sneak up on you in such fog They lived the Carpenter movie, bronze age style :)
Comment from : Djed i

Comment from : Deston Lee

Phil Sarkol
It amazes me what a desolate place on the hill that is Still the question as to, why did they settle there, is unanswered Where did they get wood or turf to burn, what did they eat, where did they hunt or grow crop How many people within that community and how where they socially organised?
Comment from : Phil Sarkol

Christine Butler
Can you just imagine e the fun archeologists will have excavating our cities in a d ew thousand years?
Comment from : Christine Butler

BoneMama
I would kill to work as an archaeologist in the UK, until I saw this and Cooper's Pool videos That is dedication! I'm sticking to my desert archaeology, but what all of you do is so fascinating and reaffirms my life's decision to follow my heart and be an archaeologist I also really really really want to work with Phil
Comment from : BoneMama

crazy times
Why do you only have 3 days?
Comment from : crazy times

kingscairn
How'd youget permission for this type of excavation
Comment from : kingscairn

Angry_Kittie
As a mom I would be seriously angry if my husband was knapping his flints all over the inside of the house 🤨brSmall children could really cut up their feet on sharp little bits of flint all over the floor Think about that, I mean, go outside and make your mess or better yet, go do that in your man-cave hut brWhy don't archaeologists think like real people lol
Comment from : Angry_Kittie

Lawney Malbrough
It's possible that some of those ground down axe heads might have been used as weapons
Comment from : Lawney Malbrough

Lawney Malbrough
Looks like there was a villiage there with a fortification for defense
Comment from : Lawney Malbrough

Christine Shotton
There's no need to shoutbrThis is the clown's version of archeology The scientists involved should be ashamed of themselves
Comment from : Christine Shotton

Big Bens Outdoor Channel
Francis Pryor is so full of shite He's key phrase is always "you've got to imagine" His cattle raiding theory is just a load of BS Love this show but he's insufferable
Comment from : Big Bens Outdoor Channel

Wamphyrii1
Absolutely amazing ! i am wondering though 3 days in terrain such as we see here, is 3 days enough to really to see a full picture? is funding a issue or is there just is so much for the team to do on other sites, that 3 is all that can be given to this amazing adventure?
Comment from : Wamphyrii1

Järnvarg Fenrirsson
Pretty similar to galician hillforts from bronze and iron age, tha Atlantic fasade has many things in common
Comment from : Järnvarg Fenrirsson

Comment from : James Haines

BinThere DoneThat

Comment from : BinThere DoneThat

Hugh Gard
Nobody thought to do a dry run on the site? Or have the grass cut?this is pretty shoddyzero prep work and wandering about the site like tourists not scientists
Comment from : Hugh Gard

Dave Stutesman
Amazing to think some of my Irish ancestors could have possibly stood on this hill, digging and building these walls and ditches
Comment from : Dave Stutesman

TaffytheGreat
Why do they call it the Bronze Age if they’re still using flint? Also them living up there, they had to travel a fair distance just to get water
Comment from : TaffytheGreat

Alana Adams
Ditch could have eroded Maybe was a deep V ditch at one time
Comment from : Alana Adams

Richard Smith
History according to Baldric
Comment from : Richard Smith

adventus saxonum
Good to see Francis Pryor within his Bronze Age specialist field, rather than trying to persuade us that the Anglo-Saxon invasions never took place
Comment from : adventus saxonum

Gone Looney
Another place that traditional wheels would be better off replaced by "climbing" wheel set-ups
Comment from : Gone Looney

Book Mouse
They were the Flintstones of course
Comment from : Book Mouse

Christian Buczko
All the irish were doing when this site was built was going around stealing from the naighbours They have ancient legends and stories about how they were constantly stealing each others animals and livestock, so its obvious why this site had defences
Comment from : Christian Buczko

Donald Trump Uncensored
The raiding party model seems to be problematic due to the apparent lack of presence of animal bones
Comment from : Donald Trump Uncensored

Greg Archer
Where did they get there wate r? Could the ditches have been the water reservoirs for gravity fed irrrigation and domestic use ?
Comment from : Greg Archer

Greg Archer
Should be no surprise they occupied a site of solid basalt yes a giant magnet They knew about energy lines and how you were able to think with greater clarity on certain dates They were in tune with the earth which they thought was there ancestors communicsting with them These people were zoomed in on this energy and knew the signal was strongest in these sacredlocations
Comment from : Greg Archer

Teknikah

Comment from : MossyMozart

James Dolan
There is every indication that this area of Co Antrim was denuded of trees and shrubs at much later period than the Neolithic and/or the Bronze age A semi forested area rich in flora and fauna would have provided ideal habitation for the Neolithic and the Bronze age peoples
Comment from : James Dolan

Neil Falls
Three days to unearth all there is to learn? I'm not a fan of the premise for this program Putting a time limit on science seems counter-productive
Comment from : Neil Falls

R Blakehole
People were trading across the Irish Sea 2000BC Amazing! Not really Mankind has been exploring and trading, raiding and conquering ever since they could walk That is who we are What would really be interesting is if they could figure out what sorts of vessels they were using to cross the Irish Sea 2000 BC
Comment from : R Blakehole

Sherrye Emery
What happens to all these sites after the 3 day discoveries ? Are they just reburied and left alone, or is further excavation done ?
Comment from : Sherrye Emery

michael hughes
It sounds like this excavation area was special and that walk around the high ground was a special occasion as no bodies found it was not a proper place for normal village life
Comment from : michael hughes

Phil Harang
Francis is slipping in his old age It took him almost 2 days to get hooked into his "ritual" mode In every single Time Team episode he appears in, there comes a time when he decides that everything that they have looked at, from cooking pots to cow barns is ritualistic or ceremonial
Comment from : Phil Harang
