if you want something more than 1/4oz but can't afford 1/2oz, 10 gram bars are an option just shy under 1/3rd oz Comment from : super star |
easier to buy, easier to sell, 1/4oz is for the 'mass' which is the perfect coin imo but ofc 1oz nice as well Comment from : Ballaz |
Here we are a year later, golds down, but still up Things are still tough, and your videos are still a little slice of heaven THANK YOU Comment from : Sandman Slim |
I get what you mean about prices being relative, I’m not into pocket knives, but fountain pens I started at the $20 range, and now have pens that are nearly $100 I’ve since determined not to purchase any more for a while so I can start putting my money into PM, although I did get a couple of brush pens to practice calligraphy with my daughter (That’s an investment of a different kind) Comment from : Chris Blanc |
I love your videos because when I come home from work it helps me calm down Comment from : Dakota |

In our case it is me, the wife who buys gold and silver My husband doesn't mind because I'm buying something of value He's just grateful that I'm not buying ridiculously expensive purses, shoes, knickknacks, etc But when you started talking about expensive pocket knives, I thought to myself "I would have a fit if husband wanted to do that" 😁 Comment from : Shan |

I tend to stack rather than flip, just because I use stacking as a savings for retirement and eventual generational wealth Personally I like to make a game out seeing how much I can put away Comment from : Lala Mood |
I picked up a 10g Perth gold bar and a gold quarter eagle right before the recent price Spike That being said I miss the prices during Trump's economy I remember getting a half ounce gold eagle for 540 bucks 1/10 ounce gold eagles for 140 oh and one point they couldn't even give silver eagles away I was getting them 15 bucks a piece out the door those were the days lol Comment from : Track pack GT |

To all the conflicting spouses out there Solid money, because its much safer than IOUs in terms of buying power Solid money can be converted to any currency in the world without question Comment from : OneHungryPanda |

Watching this video 1 year later is hilarious 😂 Seems like you were pretty spot on for a couple different issues I really enjoy your channel I'm about to hit my first year of stacking and I'm happy to say I'm making my last "scheduled investment" I'm debating on rather to purchase my last 1/2 oz as either 1/4 oz x2 or just buy 1 - 1/2 oz coin I currently have 25 oz in all 1/4 oz Coins Either way it seems like it's a win win Just glad I pulled it off! Thanks again for all your hard work 😎👍🏻 Comment from : Keith B |
Picking up my first 1/4 Oz today! Comment from : Asho23 |
As a newbie Can I ask how much gold the quarter oz coin has I was assuming its broken down to grams brAlso, is there another metal involved in making one Like zinc in the silver products brbrThank you Comment from : Manny Aldava |
Easy to mix 1/4 and 1/10 oz with pocket change when going through airport without questioning Comment from : カアン |
Why are some of your coins in a capsule and some not? Comment from : Betty Hongstein |
I’m stacking for as much ounces I can yearly I found I can stack up to 2oz’s of gold a year by buying 5 gram bars once a month I usually buy an extra 5 gram bar a month when I can afford it Comment from : kennyt8016 |
I walked into one of my LCS late last year asked how much a 1/4 ounce gold Eagle was He gave me a decent price so I decided to buy two of them I paid him He hands we my 1/4 Eagles and I take a look at them They are both proofs! That was a nice little bonus that I wasn’t expecting Comment from : Saltwater Saddle Tramp |
Re-watching this video a second time I think you convinced me to get some quarter Eagles I think I have 2 in the back of the safe, and now I feel like I need some more :-) Comment from : Ortwein International |
Curious about bid/ask of a premium of a 1/4 oz coin vs a 1 oz coin quartered with a pair of shears? brbrJust food for thought and arithmetic ;) Comment from : Vytautas Vaicys |
Your collection is so pretty and huge! Comment from : Jesse Dawg |
I started stacking and prepping in 2008 after that mess - and the entire time I wondered what the situation would be that would confirm my preppingit turned out to be a pandemic - a pretty lame one in all honesty, but that turned out to be the incident that came alongbrbrjust noting that no one can predict the situation with certainty - so prepping at any level ends up helping weather the stormgettiing your debt down being one of my most important preps for hard timeslike shutting the whole economy down having a decent pile of silver and gold was nice to have too - so don't underestimate that piece of the puzzle Comment from : Free man |
I'd like to have some for practical purposes, but my local coin shop currently sells them for $525/piece, which Is an $80 premium over spot That's 18 which is crazy The same shop will sell ounces that come off the street for spot + $50-70 A Krug with a $50 premium and gold at $1780 works out to less than 3 over spot Comment from : Uncle Putin |
I just look at premiums as “price discovery” Comment from : Desert Daze |

There is always a dip before the rip Comment from : Marcus Peabody |
For right now, I am stacking 1/4 OZ AGE’s, Kruger’s, and Maples Working my income up to being able to start purchasing 1 OZ Buffalos and Eagles For now 1/4 is my most efficient way to accrue at least SOME GOLD until that time BTW- SUPER NICE Silver Proofs! Kudos! Comment from : Robbie Hollywood |
Nice video and explanation of your thoughts on the quarter ounce My next quarter ounce will be a Libertad The premium will be higher, but it’s want I want Comment from : T the Silver Stacker |
Buying gold and silver at cheap prices is one very good thing in our current world of Opposite Day Comment from : Even Bigger Al |
Still love the 1/4oz Coins Great coins and so easy to sell They are basically never in-stock locally which sucks Comment from : Florida Stacker |
If buying bars, yes, 1/3 oz (10g), 1/6oz (5g) are great Bars are the only reasonable fractional option Comment from : GoodTexture GT |
Thank you for sharing I like fractional gold eagles I got a nice brtube of 10th oz at local coin shop years ago IF a trade warrants it, a good way to make change Buy at bullion, can't go wrong Comment from : Angus McPrepper |
Where do you buy your coin case’s from? Comment from : Sports & Hip-Hop 230 |
Another great video I'm so glad you explained the reasoning for your actions I was beginning to think 🤔 It's the economic equivalent of shooting yourself in the foot, the way you buy and trade gold As an numismatist years ago, I traded an 06 American buffalo ( 875) at the time for an 1847 seated dollar Super nice problem-free example In hindsight, I would rather have kept the gold and paid Fiat We all like different things, it was fun to see the what, and hear about the why Good job addressing the concerns I had popping up in my head as I watched the video Happy stacking Comment from : Sur-Real |
The Australian sovereigns are over 8grams and they have history some of the old ones are worth more and I have some English ones to ! Comment from : John Erdelyi |
1/4 ounce coins are the best! Stay away from odd weight coins Comment from : Thorlin |
God bless you 🙏 Comment from : USA ALWAYS |
Just doesn't make sense Premiums are way too high (ridiculously high) for fractionals Made the mistake of buying a 1/2oz eagle last month Never again Ounce or nothing Comment from : MACT Ventures |
Apparently any gold coins are bad buys now since gold no longer protects us from inflation I guess I just buy for the glitter not a value Comment from : Rocky Marciano the 3rd |
This might be off topic but I think a Wilson Combat 1911 next to the field notes would look badass! Comment from : LiquidStacker |
I like the 1/4 ozt size Affordable and big enough to appreciate the coins size I started out flipping gold in '08 and did well, but found other ways to make money and instead just stack I leave collectables alone unless I can get them near regular bullion prices for the most part 😏 You rock brutha - stay cool 🏴☠️ Comment from : Cache Katz |
Most of my gold coins are fractional It's good to have a mixed bag of PMs The future is very uncertain right now Glad I have some financial insurance Comment from : Richard Metcalf |
I’m considering buying either a 1 ounce gold eagle a 1 ounce gold Buffalo a 1 ounce gold maple leaf or a 1 ounce gold Britannia Both the spot price and premiums seem pretty high right now For example the best deals I found are 69 premium on the eagle 82 premium on the Buffalo 68 premium on the Mapleleaf And 62 premium on the Brittania Do you think the premiums and spot price are likely to go down in the next few months? And do you think I should wait a month or two or buy now? Comment from : chuckmilton |
Monument metals has the cheapest quarter ounce American eagle I have found in the last 2 weeks Comment from : Hixbilly |
Thanks for the video Could you consider making a video about the topic of bitcoin and ethe "replacing" gold or the long term effects of crypto on gold? I buy both metals and crypto regularly, so this topic would interest me Thanks! Comment from : Mer Meg |
If SHTF happens, I would use my 01 Troy ounce gold bars for trade That's a lot of water and food! Lol! Comment from : DALG |
Don’t trade up from 1/4oz coins Comment from : Rumor Mill |
Gold sucks Keep loosing youre money Comment from : REBELLION!!! |
I think the 1/4 oz is the ideal size for affordability and heft (weight) The 1/10th is more affordable (despite the high premium), but I can barely feel its weight The 1/2 oz has a nice weight, but the cost is high for a regular purchase The resale value and demand is a good consideration Comment from : SilverGold Saver |
I'm in 1/10 gold eagle land I stay in my lane Got 13 lil bad boys 🤴🏻 Comment from : silver watcher |
I prefer Vrenelis over quarter ounce, the spread is much lower Comment from : Sebastian Benner |
Great video as always Once I collect 50 Gold Sovereigns and 15 x 1/10th I will probably switch to 1/4oz Comment from : Gunnar Gundersen |
Monument metals has a sale on gold eagles this week All sizes Comment from : Silver Rabbit |
What timing I just ordered my first 1/4 oz AGE coins today due to a dealer sale this weekend Thanks for helping confirm my decision Really appreciate your channel and level headed approach Keep it up! Comment from : Metal Tracker |
Definitely ranges between strategy and income I have all 1oz coins eagles & buffalos, remember the days of sub $50 premiums on full oz coins & 8k silver eagle monster boxes lol Always check JM's buy back rates to see best value per dollar you spend Comment from : 2manyclippers |
I would prefer 1/2 Oz to 1 Oz because of premiums but right now total cost of the coin is more important which is why last week I got my 4th 1/4 Oz Eagle I still love my Buffalo Fractional Buffalos would be awesome Keep up the good work Comment from : Metals Mania |
If you want to be a :trader go to energy Metal is a hedge Comment from : Snupi Nut |
You made me feel very less stressed today thanks! I hope to buy a lot of gold next year when prices are lower Comment from : Brinstar |
People are gonna dump all their gold/silver for bitcoin and other cryptos, especially with the new futures market opening upbrGold is screwed BUT I'll keep trading GLD, the volatility in gold makes it a good swing trade Comment from : Ganja Cat |
This was a great video! We are all in different financial situations Grow your stack as you can with-in your own needs and capabilities I also had to start with Fractional gold Comment from : Higgy Higgins |
Don’t bother watching Obviously if you believe the economy is collapsing, and you think precious metals will be the savior, buy them Others say crypto currency is the way to go during a collapse No one knows the best route Do what you think is right and don’t follow other’s opinions YOU need to decide what is right for you and what your risk tolerance is Comment from : Iver Mectin |
What make of blade is that? Very nice! I am stacking quarter ounce gold eagles, and I even have one Krugerrand But I prefer 1/4 eagles exclusively, until I can afford to purchase different types of 1 ounce gold Comment from : Robbie Hollywood |
So what is that knife that you finally settled one? Comment from : Herbert Bovine |
Fractional Gold excellent choices 👌 Comment from : arafat bukhari |
Knives, guns, precious metalsohh, I know! I did pick up a 1/4 AGE from my LCS today with a 11 premium! Comment from : 72cmcinc |
Got the bunker, food for 1/2 year, guns and ammo and some tubes of gold and silver😎 Hope i´ll survive Comment from : Frederiksen |
Nice video on fractional gold The 1/4 ounce coin is definitely the one you want to buy if you’re going fractional and if you don’t have the patience to hold off for an ounce coin I prefer buying in ounces but I know a lot of people cannot not do that so a good option is the fractional gold Love the pocket knife as well! Comment from : Gold Adventures with Brett |
Just purchased a 1/4 AGE from Monument Metals Comment from : Randal K |
I'd be scared those proofs would milk spot personally US Mint is ugh Comment from : steak |
Ya everyone is different and has different incomes every other month I can grab an oz of gold and on the interim I can never hold enough cash to wait for another oz I end up buying whatever is the deal of the day in 1/10 and 1/4 and 10gr eBay takes a piece of the pie so I would never sell on there as I only buy gold from sovereign mints so it’s quick and easy liquid Although I have never sold ha ha Good vid just picket up a 10gr Kinebar ( the horse hologram ) Comment from : Crypto Johnny |
Ohhh I would Love to see $1,500 again 😁 Comment from : 4 Nine Fine |
I love the tone and presentation of your videos Compared to the frenzy of other real estate and precious metals channels, it was exactly your sense of peace and zen that made it so attractive to me When you mention wanting to make the videos “better,” I get nervous I certainly enjoy what I’m already receiving Thanks! Comment from : David Noll |
Scottsdale 1/100 Oz gold bars are very small, with very high price and I still love them Comment from : Village Idiot |
150000 gold , I am buying it at any price I never will sell So it all gets passed down, same with bitcoin Comment from : Village Idiot |
500$ is a convenient amount for many You can avoid the temptation to get into a car payment and get a 1/4 oz coin monthly for example 25 ASE are just too much these days when britannias, kangaroo, and philharmonics have half the premium Comment from : aaron schen |
The worst part is waiting for the USPS br1/4 eagle a month is a good start I always buy a couple dimes when there on sale the 2022 Britannia's are ready Comment from : Thomas Schultz |
I will sell everything I own and spend every cent I have on gold if it goes to $1,500 Comment from : TXLionHeart |
I have bought 1/10oz primarily because of price point Easier for me to fund I know I could always wait & save, but what fun is that? Comment from : Danny Scobee |
As always enjoyed the video! I notice you don't really talk much about the 1/2 oz Eagles Do you have a set quantity you like to have on these like the 12 1/4 oz Eagles you mention in earlier videos? Comment from : Keith |
I picked up the reverse proof as well, hope yours were still in the capsules… mine were flopping around the box 🤦♂️ Have you given any thought to considering Pre-33 gold again? I realize the cons you had from your previous videos but does your local shop really not gobble them up the same as modern US gold? Atleast at Apmex the BU random year $10 liberty eagles have lower premiums than the new 1/2 oz eagles Comment from : JDre2155 |
My wife doesn't mind my buying a 1/4 oz gold coin monthly, but gets upset if I were to buy a full oz every four months She just doesn't like to see a big chunk of fiat leave our account at one time My logic on 1/4 oz is once we paid off our car ($500 monthly) I just use that amount which went for monthly vehicle to monthly gold Every once in awhile she asks if I should replace my 10 year old truck I explain it's just broke in and it wasn't untill I had it five years before I could use as a truck ( first dent ) Years ago I would have jumped at the offer, these days my priorities have changed Comment from : D S |
I miss the days when I could pay $300 to $350 for 1/4 oz gold Comment from : Lamarr Avery |

As of this posting and assuming I've got my math right, the best price for a single quarter ounce American Gold Eagle type 2 on SDBullion is $54997 The spot price is $44350, making the premium $10647 or about 24 of spot The best price for a full ounce AGE type 2 is $1,89828 and the spot price is $1,77410, a premium of $12417 or just a hair under 7 For buyers with the funds and the discipline to buy a quarter ounce each month, switching to buying an ounce every 4 months instead would save them just over $300 per quarter or $1,200 per year that could be applied to their next ounce of gold That's a pretty good reward for not all that much more discipline And should they choose to save all that money and go with one ounce coins, they can switch to buying real gold 😁as in Buffalos Comment from : SH B |
16 or 17 premium on the 1/4s?? Wow, impressive if true I just bought one from Hero Bullion at 21 premium and they were the cheapest of the big sites Comment from : AggiePhil |
