Hi Bill-I really enjoy your videos and want to thank you so much for your helpful and honest insight I am considering a complete career transition to accounting so I have a couple of questions for a potential career changer I received a BA in psychology years ago and I am a bit further along in my career (42 years old) Several years ago I went back to school and took some introductory accounting courses and did really well (professors strongly encouraged me to do accounting) but I didn’t follow through at the time Would you recommend getting a MSA or a second bachelors degree? Does it really matter since either way I would meet the requirements for the CPA exam in NC? At this age, would I even be considered at a Big 4 firm or would my age put me at a disadvantage in any way? Any advice is very much appreciated Comment from : Jon |

I can tell he more nerdy than me n if cpa exam was hard for him maybe harder for meunless I'm much more better at taking exams than I give credit for For example, the manager at my job gets 710 average points on shop rite's anoxify daily test taking n I am not even a year here n I score 1brAround 1100 average If u saw us u would know he is more knowledgeable but not smart when taking the shop rite daily testweird but he can't get higher than 800 N I'm steady in the top 3 of highest scores Comment from : _ omarlives |

Great video I'm in my early 40s and looking to change careers due to burn out and bad bosses I'm considering accounting I don't want to work more than 45 -50 hours a week as a rule, I can't handle a lot of stress, and I'm an extreme introvert I was thinking of quitting my current job cold turkey (before I jump out of a window) taking out about $60K in student loans (to pay for school and rent etc) and going to school for accounting full time for the next 2 years to get my bachelors in accounting (I think I can do transfer credits for most of the GE courses from the bachelors I already have) brbrMy questions for you are: (1) I was thinking to go straight into private accounting when I graduate for work/life balance, but I hear the salary is low ($40Ks) if you do it that way, I currently make mid $60K and don't want to start over that far behind salary wise How long would it take me to get back into the $60Ks if I go straight to private? (2) If I go public, is there any section of public where I can work no more than 45-50 hours a week as a rule, have limited interaction with others (introvert), no traveling, and work from home before transferring to private to get a salary boost? (3) Do you need the CPA to get a starting job in public?
