Since you`ve tried the Absolut Citron, it might be interesting to try the Absolut Mandrin, which is a tagerine flavored vodka It has no addition of sugar, but it has a subtle hint of sweetness there, perhaps a trick played by our taste memory This will be much closer to those orange liqueurs I like to use these flavored vodkas to give a different flavor note to certain drinks, as for example in a tangerine caipirinha (the main spirit is cachaça) with pepper, by adding maybe 20 ml of Absolut Mandrin and just a dash of Absolut Peppar to give it a subtle spicy note (it`s important to use just a little bit of that last ingredient, as if one uses just a little more, the drink is ruined By the way, it would be great to see you doing a show on cachaça, if you can get some good ones

I find it interesting to note that grand marnier is with a cognac base as opposed to the brandy base you mentioned for curaçao which might explain why it tastes so different from the other ones you drank on that episode

Whoa, wait a minute, hold up: if Curaçao is more sweet and Triple Sec is less sweet - you just said at 4:22 that Cointreau is the Triple Sec style bless/b sweet variety? The first time I had Cointreau I said, out loud, "this is liquid candy" That's the less sweet? Seriously? If Cointreau the triple sec less sweet variety and Grand Marnier is the Curaçao more sweet - than apparently you're biggest concern with drinking a whole bottle of Grand Marnier isn't alcohol poisoning - it's whether or not your foot is gonna fall off from spontaneous diabetes

It's my understanding that Cointreau (and I guess you can extrapolate that out to triple secs in general) is made from neutral spirits and Grand Marnier is Brandy based Which, I guess, would explain why the Grand Marnier was more complex in flavor However, I still prefer Cointreau in my margaritas

While Curacao is made by infusing the dry orange peels in with local brandy, where is Grand Marnier, is distilled orange liquor, like Cointreau, blended with Cognac Which also explains the price because cognac is not cheap

There's a limit to the usage of high quality spirits when mixing cocktails Am I gonna use a $250 bottle of 18 year whiskey to make a sour? Like hell I would, and neither would youbrA $100 tequila and Grand Marnier to make a frozen margarita? Nope Why would you? Coldness not only eliminates the acetone & rubbing alcohol flavours of cheap shit, but also the deliciousness and complex flavours of high quality spirits So why fork out the extra bucks for high quality only to chill and dilute it to the point you can't even taste it? Go mid-grade for a higher-end cocktail, and savour the good stuff how it's meant to be- by itself in a glass

Grand Marnier has cognac in it in addition to orange liqueur, so it's bound to be more complex

In french(especially winemaking) "sec" doesn't really mean "dry" but rather "non sweet"So the "triple sec" could refer to the fact that it is less sweet than curacao

Nice video, grand marnier rouge and pierre ferrand are more similar than cointreau is because the base of them is brandy while the base of cointreau is neutral alcohol I think thats why cointreau does not taste that complex

I've tried them em all, from the most expensive to the bottom shelve stuff and dekuyper 03 is the oj liqueur that I keep going back to - and it's only 1/4th the price of the high end stuff Itbrs got the most intense and complex orange flavor I've experience from alcohol
