BrokeHorizon6
One thing I wish I could go back and change is playing instruments I played guitar at age 10 and drums a bit at 13 Now I’m picking up the guitar again at age 20 and feel like I’m learning to use my hands again
Comment from : BrokeHorizon6

Harrison Mathews
I'm 15 thinking I'm too old damn
Comment from : Harrison Mathews

YodiDaReman
I tried practicing guitar at 18 but I gave up on it because it felt like chore rather than something to strive for I tried again in my mid 20s but the guitar I had kept braking and going out of tune and I was too broke to take it to a luthier I finally tried at 30 and I was starting to enjoy practicing but the bridge on my acoustic was about to snap off because I made the strings too tight after that I gave up on trying to learn
Comment from : YodiDaReman

AwkwardTurtle
I started 13 days ago at age 45
Comment from : AwkwardTurtle

Firelord Ozai
Two of these four artists started at 19 and 24 - which is not old by any reasonable definition - that should tell it’s very hard to find recognisable successful artists who started later in life You can be the first one but you should know that the odds aren’t good
Comment from : Firelord Ozai

Joel Jones
I've played for 26 years but i'm only 35 and still can't find a band
Comment from : Joel Jones

evil pie
I started practicing at 17 and have been practicing every day for like 5 months now I think if I just keep practicing and have patience I will be able to play Spanish Fly by Van Halen in like 2 years
Comment from : evil pie

RustyID
I always loved music but kept telling myself my entire life that guitar isn’t for me as I had a failed attempt to learn classical guitar as a very young kid brbrLast year I spent a few months living among semi-professional musicians and befriended a band That inspired me to finally start learning at age 36 around 5 months ago brbrNever before in my life did I get obsessed with something that much brbrMy goal is to be able to play pub gigs with a band within this year Getting there 💪🏼
Comment from : RustyID

JB Da Real
Dude the fact that your list held many African American guitar players really blew me away I just didn't expevtbthat at all and I can't even explain the impact that just haf on me as a black, self taught guitar plater in America To be historically acknowledged and included and not overlooked like they didnt exist 👏🏾👏🏾💯Everybody on the list were new to me so I'll be looking them up to learn more but that just blew my mind so i gmhad to comment lol Thank you
Comment from : JB Da Real

Michael Craig
Chuck Berry did NOT start playing when he was 29 He recorded his first singles and albums at age 29 he started well before that, but still kind of late
Comment from : Michael Craig

Michael Craig
Johnny Ramone got a Mosrite MK II guitar I got a Mosrite MK I guitar which is actually their top of the line guitar, and the pickups are way hotter on mine, like 13k! Sounds way better than the Ramones tone This thing BLASTS, monster huge tone, like no other guitar I ever played And it is a single coil vintage 1965 MK I model Too bad everyone just used it for clean country and surf I love those styles, but it has so much more potential to rock out!
Comment from : Michael Craig

Oz Gonzalez

This makes me realize I didn't start late I started 2,5 years ago and I'm now 18y 6m so just when i turned 16 I feel really late because one of my very good friends started when he was just 13 years old, so a 3 year headstart, but I just have to practice harder to catch up to him!
Comment from : David Bak

Keith Niday
I began playing 1 year ago when I retired at 65 I was most inspired by another YouTuber named Lauren Bateman She said if you improve 1 a week, at the end of a year you will be 52 better than when you started I believe she is right If I can improve another 52 in the next year I might just turn out to be a halfway decent guitar player Keep practicing You will get better
Comment from : Keith Niday

Roger Dodger
Believe it or not Frank Zappa didn't start playing guitar until he was 18 He started off on drums and could read and write music and understood melody and composition but did start on guitar until age 18 This info came from a Zappa biography I read

Don Johnson
I don’t even think 20 is too late If you spent 5 years practicing, every day for at least 1 hr, you’ll get an awesome level and you’ll be only 25, really young still I’m 26, started at 18, mediocrely practicing, and still got a very nice level, well, the last two years I really had to commit and start practicing very decently If I had done that right off the bat I would be better, not doubt But even when the first 4 years of practicing I was very lazy, and could still get a nice guitar level, I was able to catch up
Comment from : Don Johnson

Trent Stroupe
The biggest mental block for me has been my age since I’m almost 55, having started guitar 2 years ago I hit a plateau about 6 months ago, and laid it down Just started back a week ago Thanks for the “never too old” reminder! Just what I needed to hear!🤟✌️
Comment from : Trent Stroupe

"One's enough": You know it, brother
Comment from : Stan Blackburn

Jeremy Belolo
It's very interesting! Also, I will have you take note that all of these legends are from long ago - nowadays it's much EASIER to learn guitar so we got that going for us, but it's also much TOUGHER to get known when you become good since there are so much more talented people Not sure if this is still possible to make a living out of music while starting at 30+, but become good, or even great? Definitely!
Comment from : Jeremy Belolo

rhys997
I started learning guitar about a month and a half ago I've just found your channel and binged a couple of your videos, absolutely love it man keep up the good work 💪
Comment from : rhys997

Wesley Neisler
In all seriousness this is encouraging One of my recent dreams has been to make it big, of course not really because what I really want is to become an accomplished guitarist, and that's what I mean by big Not the fame Sounds discouraging

Phil Jones
Interesting and encouraging! I was thinking of starting a rival channel: reallyoldfartsguitar :) In addition to your course reviews, have you thought of reviewing the actual guitar youtube channels that have a lot of free tuition content? There are many of them: Jeff McErlain, John Robson, Guitar Pilgrim, Paul Davids, Griff Hamlin
Comment from : Phil Jones

Em Kaysey
Another wonderful video! I've always wondered why isn't there a video like this out there! Really good job on this and its always a pleasure to see your presentation! brAlso is it too soon to be requesting you to do a gear collection review? I reall like your seagull and fender strat!
Comment from : Em Kaysey

Rich Johnson
Wait a second, how come I wasn't on the list? :D I didn't know that about Chuck Berry, just figured he was a music bad ass his entire life Adding the other guys to my Tidal list to check out Interesting reads about the others you listed in your comment It would be interesting to find some "midlife" old farts like yourself that "made it" :D I'm only 46, so I'm still a spring chicken, though my neck feels 89 years old this week :/
Comment from : Rich Johnson

Jeroen
I'm 49 Picked up the guitar last year Still suck at it Apparently, there is hope :)
