Ave Maria
Rev 1:6; 5:10; Gal 3:28 & Roman's 12:1-2 God made us kings and priests unto our God When Jesus came, we are neither male nor female Jew nor gentile, but we are all equal to serve in all titles and positions to The Lord A woman can be a king and a priest and a man can be the bride We really need to release women into their destiny THIS WILL CHANGE! IT'S THE WORD OF THE LORD! satan is afraid of Mary If women were to be in the fullness of Mary as they consecrate themselves as a priest, like the New Testament declares, it would be His end God made us both male and female Out of the fullness of man God pulled out the fullness of female We have to come together as 1, to defeat our adversary brbrAdam was sitting there when Eve ate the apple, both responsible Because they were both equally responsible, both men and women both suffered great loss to character and nature It's going to take both of us coming together to defeat him as well Also, Christians, Catholics, and Jews need to come together We all have pieces to an infinite puzzle We need to be family Until we can work together and get along there's gonna be problems But God always has a remnant
Comment from : Ave Maria

Jonathan Goodwin
How come we do not have religious sisters an every parish?
Comment from : Jonathan Goodwin

Jonathan Goodwin
God did you use women not in the Priest Like a version Mary Is Mary Magdalene Jesus Supported women and using them in the church in different ways I don't know the whole answer on this I'm sure those different ways they conserve I think women Give you the body of Christ But but I'm not sure on that
Comment from : Jonathan Goodwin

Jonathan Goodwin
On that same subject men are the head of the church And the mother has a different role The man is not superior today to the house he just has a different row
Comment from : Jonathan Goodwin

Jonathan Goodwin
If that be the case 20 men in the priesthood when do they call Mother Theresa I always had that question
Comment from : Jonathan Goodwin

Jonathan Goodwin
Is the reason women cannot be in the priesthood Cause it goes all the way from the beginning To the apostles none of them Had the priesthood But Virgin Mary she was not in the priesthood but she is honored
Comment from : Jonathan Goodwin

Mary Higgins
Fr Mike, I respectfully ask you to speak more slowly Thank you
Comment from : Mary Higgins

Tammy Dugas
In my heart I sincerely believe that if Jesus were here today, he'd have had female and male apostles
Comment from : Tammy Dugas

Adina Meyer
Here is my reply: 1) He says the church does not say you are less as a woman, and that in the past priests were fathers and sisters were mothers, and that the priests were not seen as "better" This is just flat untrue Anyone who has been in a Catholic parish knows that the priest is "Father" and super important He is the top dog In a traditional Catholic household, also, the father of the family is the boss, he is in charge, he is the top dog 2) Roman Catholic tradition comes from Roman tradition, and Roman Law, in which the paterfamilias, or father of the family, had absolute power of life and death over his wife, children, and slaves It is a hierarchy, the way the Church is a hierarchy It is just dishonest to say that women are not considered to be "less" in the Roman Catholic Church He should admit it br3) My last point is that is not in fact the official Vatican position on women's ordination The official position is that women were not "ordained" as priests at the Last Supper, which is when Jesus instituted the priesthood Jesus chose only men so the church chooses only men That is the reason the church has "no power whatsoever" to ordain women as priests br4) So my conclusion is, Father Mike needs to be honest and straightforward and say yes, we do see you as lower in the hierarchy than men Just like we see bishops lower than the pope, priests lower than bishops, and lay men lower than priests Anyone who has been in any kind of Catholic parish has experienced this, and if you think that's the way it should be, you should come out and say it and not try to pretend you are egalitarian, because that is not the way the church works
Comment from : Adina Meyer

Douglas Williams
The church has decided to fallow Jusus advice and "Honor your Father and Mother" when presenting role modeling of behaviorbrThe different tasks given to each is efforted to present a harmonious working means a healthy cooperation to accomplish the teaching of the daily tasks needing to be donebrIf someone believes one role is more valued than the other they would be missing the point
Comment from : Douglas Williams

tina destefano
father mike good point on priest your totally right intellectually I understand why men are priest and women are not growing up catholic if a women tried giving me the Eucharist, i would of walked away Matter of fact the church went from only priest touching the Eucharist to having parishioners handing out the eucharist, that is when i exited the church

Penfold8
As per Pope Francis' decree (Jun 2, 2021) Cannon 1379 "Both a person who attempts to confer a sacred order on a woman, and the woman who attempts to receive the sacred order, incur a latae sententia excommunication reserved to the Apostolic See; a cleric, moreover may be punished by dismissal from the clerical state" The Catholic Church does NOT have female priests
Comment from : Penfold8

Carol Hensen
Priesthood should only be men……you have a way with words keep up the good word……old school Catholic…
Comment from : Carol Hensen

Ronro66
Father Mike, please revisit the role of women in the priesthood I'd like for you to speak about the first priests in Jesus' time (apostles) and the females that were involved
Comment from : Ronro66

nena200able
Father Mike, I think God understands why you can't be involved in the lives of those which you've sponsored Priests are very busy My godfather for my baptism is a Jesuit priest He didn't want to be, because he knew how little time he would have to be in my life, but my parents insisted, and told him that would be ok I think you've given so much, and through your videos you're in the lives of those people They also have the responsibility to follow you
Comment from : nena200able

Shimmermist
Each flowers bloom on different time and season Everyone has his/her own role to do I’m so tired of hearing gender issue debates 😫🤢 brbrI wish people more focus on respect, understanding and fairness 🐣🐾💕
Comment from : Shimmermist

Alyce-Kay Ruckelshaus
I think it's funny that nobody ever mentions that men can't be nuns As a Catholic of only a year, it's very refreshing to me that the Church has different roles for men and women Women are certainly not looked at as less valued than men in the Catholic Church That's also refreshing to me For most of my life I hated being a woman In many Christian denominations women are considered much less valuable than men The Catholic Church recognizes the difference between men and women, but values both We need that now more than ever
Comment from : Alyce-Kay Ruckelshaus

Frogenius W
If Priesthood is fatherhood, than only fathers can be priests
Comment from : Frogenius W

AgentClaytonWebb
Why aren’t nuns considered a holy sacrament?
Comment from : AgentClaytonWebb

Mary Loomis
Just as we have a physical father and motherso we also need spiritual fathers and mothers
Comment from : Mary Loomis

Lala
I wonder why Bishops and priests can't marry as they did in the early church ? Why the church has deviated away from that ? And has it been a blessing or a curse ?

Fr Mike,brI am a woman and I agree that men’s ‘job’ are to be Priest Plus I have many reasons/beliefs along with Catholic Church even from beginning lifetime history to aid in my reasonings My point is I’ve never heard requests of ‘Why can’t men become nuns’ Maybe, men think it’s only a woman’s job br???🤔 🧡

Elizabeth Marcelli
This was a great video However, this does not address the fact that men are the only ones allowed to perform the sacraments, not just be a Father of the church To me, this is even bigger
Comment from : Elizabeth Marcelli

Achieng Lilian
Women can be Nuns or mothers Please let's leave this profession to men Please Please
Comment from : Achieng Lilian

If priests are dads and nuns are moms, are non-priest monks and friars chopped liver? To not mention the true male equivalent of nuns is misleading
Comment from : Kevin

ginj nadela
Good answer :--)
Comment from : ginj nadela

SophieWhite
One reason that makes sense to me, for why there can't be female priests is that the church is Christ's bride Grooms can only be males Therefore we can only have male priests who are married to the Church (bride)
Comment from : SophieWhite

Jobin Jacob Kavalam
I think father is spot on about parishes today being single parent homes
Comment from : Jobin Jacob Kavalam

Cpelo253
Yes but why must priesthood be associated with fatherhood? Not saying i disagree, but FMS fails to answer that fundamental aspect of the issue

This is the most wonderful explanation I've ever heard Men and women each have their own gifts We desperately need more women religious in our churches
Comment from : Kathryn Sham

Lilliam Lugo
In Puerto Rico we call them godmother or godfather We become like a second parent Also, our children were 12-13 of age and they got to pick the person that they feel most comfortable and trust that if something ever were to happen they be taken care of That how serious it is for our family I’m the godmother of four of my nephews, I’m all in and my husband understands and supports my commitment to them
Comment from : Lilliam Lugo

Cedany
I know no one who is a Catholic except my ex and her family What do I do?
Comment from : Cedany

Kate
To be honest, as a young woman, I don't find it offensive that women can't be priests I would feel so uncomfortable if my Church's priest was female It's just inappropriate

David Davenport
But History has been rabidly misogynistic! You know thatthat is why women were kept in chains socially until the beginning of the 20th C at least! This question is one of the main reasons I am now Episcopalian and no longer Catholic (the liturgy and the music are two others!!!)
Comment from : David Davenport

fran martin
The absence of nuns especially in full habit have left a very big void in our church Women priest don’t fill that void Church leaders should be spending time, money and education on bringing back nuns, we need them
Comment from : fran martin

David Chambers
Sure once a woman studies the theology and is ordained she can say mass and be addressed as "mother" In my locality the locality Presbyterian woman minister does a great job of tending to her flock
Comment from : David Chambers

Sophia Postma
While this video didn't fully clear it up for me, it helped A LOT The father/mother reasoning makes sense to me, because I don't really know what I want to do as a career, but I do know that I want to be a mom Thanks again Fr Mike!!

Chris
The practical purpose I can think of is that in becoming a priest you're giving up the purpose of your maleness in the flesh The male body is largely expendable, where one goes away another will take his place Women are intrinsically closer to God, so the sacrifice of becoming a priest would consequentially be lesser I could see a need for women priests for a parish of those who have been violated by men, but until the Holy Spirit moves to make this happen, churches will continue as they always have I wouldn't expect a majority of churches to create women priests, but I could see women playing a larger role in reaching people who have been damaged throughout all denominations
Comment from : Chris

Leah Maryam Hananel
Thanks, Fr Mike!brJust for everyone's information, in most Eastern Churches and in Western Church before celibate priesthood was enforced, priests could be married (before ordination) meaning that many parishes had a Father-Mother couple involved in running it (obviously in different roles) But "Mother" is still the title of address for a priest's wife, if you ever visit an Eastern Catholic or Orthodox Church with a married priest
Comment from : Leah Maryam Hananel

zoey&norman
Thank you for doing these videos Father Mike!! They help me so much I loved your explanation of why women aren’t priests, it made sense!
Comment from : zoey&norman

Diana Rosero
Yes you need moms and those moms have a name when they can channel the Holy Spirit in their balancing tone They are and have been called Priestesses It’s just that the Catholic Church chooses when to be progressive in their acknowledgements Hope our current pope addresses this since it’s known Mary has a story that’s yet to shown
Comment from : Diana Rosero

Nowhere Dottir
I really appreciate the time and effort you put into your videos! I was just wondering, if it is the case that women and men are equal in terms of value on the local scale, why is that beyond the local scale that women and women's voices aren't being represented in, for example, a Vatican council?
Comment from : Nowhere Dottir

Nell Fensterle
I have always taught my children, boys and girls both, that men and women have different roles in life And in the church Different, but equal in importance In some ways, wmens roles are more important (IE "The hand that rocks the cradle rules the world")Seems like common sense But what do I know😂brThe Most Important Personon earth is a mother She cannot claim the honor of having built Notre Dame Cathedral She need not She has built something more magnificent than any cathedral—a dwelling for an immortal soul, the tiny perfection of her baby's bodyThe angels have not been blessed with such a grace They cannot share in God's creative miracle to bring new saints to Heaven Only a human mother can Mothers are closer to God the Creator than any other creature; God joins forces with mothers in performing this act of creation What on God's good earth is more glorious than this: to be a mother?—Venerable Joseph Cardinal Mindszenty

Eva Sara
Hello, I'll premise by saying I love these video series/youtube channel and I am so thankful I have found it In re female priests, I would like to express my opinion, hoping I don't come across as too critical As a little child I had the calling to serve God and wanted to be a priest, even though we had/have a number of nuns in the family, but I really would have loved taking care of a community, celebrate mass, be able to bless like priests do etc To my surprise as a young child I was told girls can not do it, I thought and thought for many years about becoming a nun (because after all I had had the calling) but in the end I walked another path and I'm now happily married That said, I have asked a priest friend about women priests and it's a topic that is still quite sensitive to me The latest talks about accepting married male priests to make up for the shrinking numbers of priests also made me think why they would not consider accepting nuns or anyway female priests way before they start thinking of accepting already married priests or even allow priests to marry Nuns are some of the best people I know, tough, funny, intelligent, sensitiveyou name it The explanation on why women are not allowed to be priests given in this video is a little similar to what I have heard in the past: rules, tradition, rolesbut it really makes no sense, rules and traditions can be changed and have been changed in the past, the Church has the authority as well and nothing in the scriptures explicitly prohibits women from becoming priests (if there is, please where does it appear?) As a guide for a community, women would be great as to some degree we are usually more motherly and tend to be very empathetic Parishes need priests, nowadays some priests have to care for 3-4 parishes at the same time, women could step in and help solve the problem right away

#askfrmike How should one go about choosing confirmation names? Since my name is already the name of a saint (Saint Cecilia), can I choose my same name? I know some people will legally add confirmation names as their middle name, would this make my name Cecilia Cecilia??

Video of bishop sheen that explains about women priests somewhere in the middle but definitely worth watching from the beginning good stories! youtube/TG5-RSevDBI
