The unfortunate truth is that low fighter pay is part of what has made UFC a very successfully run business, especially early on Considering it’s tripled its value since it’s $4 billion purchase in 2017, they should probably prioritize restructuring their fighter pay

One mistake that is huge in this video Fighters do put money in other to train and in the case of MMA the cost of training is higher Due to the nature of MMA you have a boxing coach, a BJJ coach, a wrestling coach, a muay thai coach, a performance coach and a head coach Fighters have to invest in food and supplements, although not all fighters do eat supplements and medical expenses that is not always covered by the promotion So yeah Fighters are investing money on the promotion, albeit that money is also reverted to them

The biggest problem is that 75 of UFC fighters dont bring any big value to company Why should someone pay you 100k if you bring him 40 - 50k?? Need to mention one thing about the UFC, they stopped letting fighters get sponsored deals UFC signed with Reebok which eliminated any outside deals for fighters All fighters from lowest paid to highest paid have spoke about this and mentioned how lucrative these deals were and how it supported them to only fight once or twice a year

I recently “volunteered” (you have to pay to be a volunteer) to do a major LPGA tournament The purse was $15 million The winner took home $250K, out of which she had to pay state (CA) and federal taxes, her caddy, manager and agent commissions, plus travel and hotel expenses Second and third place payed less Those that made the cut, but didn’t place got around $10K The one that started but didn’t make the cut got $0

One solution would be to use a tiered sponsorship system like Nascar in which companies can directly sponsor fighters in exchange for paying UFC a flat rate sponsorship fee This in combination with the UFC's advertising revenue during commercial breaks should be more than enough to keep the UFC happy while providing fighters with an additional income source

Yes and no It’s not about how much money you make it’s about how much you are saving Some fighters aren’t financially stable or knowledgeable which in due time some(not all) ends up spending their cash Plus due to the fighter performance win or lose some are paid with bonuses along with their fight purse pay To put the icing on the cake, let’s not forget the product promotions endorsements the fighters make in order to promote their products and such Some have to be paid extra under the table as well For example there was one fight were one guy was a legendary mma fighter with a huge international fan base while the other only had a fan base within their country Although guy with the low fan base won the fight and was a champion he still got paid less than the legendary mma fighter with a more fan base There was only 10,000-20,000 in difference pay though but do not forget that setting up promotion internationally has something to do with the current dollar within that country(ex Current GDP) so the company is careful because of their profits made racking in a certain countries currency in order to thoroughly pay the fighters
