I envy Americans at this point with their reasonable subscriptions :) In Germany here are the options you get for the gym: 70 per month if you sign up for a at least TWO years (no way to cancel unless you die or move to another country or really very far - ie if you need 1+ hours to get to the gym with public transport now rather than 15 minuts, it's not a reason good enough for them) + a fee every 6 months because it's so freaking hard for them to take money from your account The fee is around 60 euro brNow the government tried to do something about such models such that people can actually cancel Result: at the same gym you can sign up on a monthly basis but for 95 per month + sign up fee + fee every 6 months brOn top of that most of the gyms don't even have an air conditioning A colleague is paying 100+ per month and can't workout on hot days because there is no AC in the gymbrThere are also extremely cheap gyms that are overcrowded most of the time for like 25 per month (+ signup fee +fee every 6 months and you can't really subscribe on a monthly basis - the best I could find was 6 months), but the idea is still the same brI ended up just buying dumbells, bench and a barbell :) Comment from : Ana Makarevich |
Yeah I go 6 days a week so my cost is under a dollar per visit ✨ Comment from : Anthony Valencia |

Gyms are the biggest rip-offs going By some parallels, a yoga mat and a suspension trainer, learn about doing body weight training at home and/or find a park There are tons of YouTube videos which can teach you every type of workout you can and can't imagineAll for free Comment from : Telluwide |

Worth checking with your insurance to see if they offer a fitness program I pay $29 a month with no cancellation clause, and I can use a wide variety of gyms in every city instead of just a single chain or location (usually 3-4+ to choose from in any given area) Comment from : topochicooooo |

I started going to the gym when I was a year into my fitness journey, gyms are great when you’re like me and want to do heavy lifting and don’t have a dedicated room nor want to pay for expensive heavyweights, but if you’re just trying to loose weight, like they said there’s cheaper options, I started out walking in a park and doing body weight exercises, you don’t need equipment for that and if you fail you at least didn’t lose money, and if you succeed you would’ve gotten a habit built up and are now ready to join a gym and make the most of it Comment from : Some guy on the internet |
I got a membership about 1,5 months ago and so far i went to gym about 4-5 times a week in average, so i guess i'm one of the people profiting from all the lazy ones Now i only have to keep it at that level and all will be good Comment from : Grim Waltzman |

Bought a whole set of modular dumbells and barbell rods The weights (about 30kg total) are filled with sand so they're cheap Spent the equivalent of 60USD of my country's currency Ripped now Never needed the gym A small investment at the start and some discipline can get you many things in life (not just a physique) because the modern world is designed to scam you Comment from : Awxen |
Are there hidden costs of therapy? Is it actually usefull going for therapy? Are there any alternatives for mental fitness? Comment from : Bhoumik Sanghavi |
There was a gym I was member of, a national chain, that I think purposefully chose a building with a small parking lot that was either difficult to squeeze into or you had to park in the strip mall across the busy street Although, it was ironic to see people fighting for the closest possible spot, as if to save steps for getting to the gym Comment from : Matthew Wynne |
You got a pretty expensive gym I pay $35 a month for mine, but I got a pretty big discount (not even sure if just everyone gets it though was 25 off) for being in EMS Comment from : Nathan |

At 5:52 - 6:00, they make the argument that buying gym equipment at home is cheaper than going to the gym However, they are ignoring the hidden cost of space with that assertion For example, gym equipment takes up square foot storage at your residence and square footage in high cost of living areas is really expensive For example, in San Francisco, the typical apartment costs approximately $420 per square foot per month So assume you have a Peloton bike stored in your apartment and assume that Peloton bike takes up 5 square feet of space in your apartment You are effectively paying 5*$420, or $21 per month to store that peloton bike at your apartment Buying a gym membership means you don't have to pay for storage for that peloton bike, workout machine, and other equipment that you'll need to store at home Therefore, the "savings" from buying gym equipment and storing it in a more expensive, bigger apartment is pretty minimal Comment from : Ryan Benkeser |

Buy a USED exercise bike, elliptical, weights, or actual bicycle on Craigslist or Facebook Marketplace and save a ton of money 💸💸💸 Comment from : Alex Supremo |

here in Cambodia i usually pay per visit it is 300 per visit and i only go twice a week to use weights I do not use the treadmill because i live 45 minutes away and figure it is more cost-effective to simply walk to the gym and back My problem is that i am underweight Comment from : Video Czar |

Here's my workout routine-- running, push-ups, sit-ups, squats Once I got a bit more fit, I bought a cinder block at Home Depot for about five bucks, and do sit-ups holding that Instead of a stair stepper machine, I run up and down actual stairs at a local high school stadium For free weights, I got a piece of scrap pipe, and filled some empty milk jugs with water and stick the pipe through the handles (one gallon weighs about eight pounds), and stack 2 or 3 on each end Total cost about ten bucks, storage space at home almost nothing There's no need to spend on a gym membership-- My doctor says I'm doing fine Comment from : 1960markN |
As an academic overachiever, having a class structure helps me make sure I go! I never missed a gym class in college, and I even took extras because I knew I’d stick with it! I wouldn’t pay for a general gym membership but classes generally do the trick for me Also, I don’t have a pool or a rock climbing wall, so paying to use them is the only way I can do it Comment from : S B |
joke's on you, I'll 100 let that food rot in my fridge and order takeout Comment from : Casey Tkacz |
I wanted to just pay on a per visit way However, it would mean that going there only 4 times a month would be more expensive than paying by the month Comment from : Sawderf |

I used to pay $25 a month for a gym membership and $70 a month for a personal trainer, and I started to dread it The workout the trainer designed me was monotonous and took too long I had to deal with lack of equipment, alpha Bros flexing in the locker room mirror and picking fights with me, and my personal favorite all the QAnon stickers on cars in the parking lot I now pay $169 a month for CrossFit, and I see it an investment; the WODS are always changing, I get personal attention from the coaches, the owners are very supportive, and I’ve seen quicker results Comment from : John Crandall |

One of the most effective fitness products for me was a $29 yoga class when i was unemployed So unemployment was a blessing in disguise I had a lot of time in my hands and decided to try yoga and it was later in my lifebrSo now i do yoga practically everday because i enjoy it But the question is, will buying this $29 "product" be effective and be with everybody s life as it has been for me? I guess one must like it for it to be a part of a person s lifebrBut as a side note, dont do those yoga back stretches That is the one yoga move i wish i didnt learn Comment from : Mr Truth |
