What's your cost of living in the UK or USA? Comment below and this is the company I use for Travel Insurance: bitly/worldnomads_travelins For more cost of living info, check out this video about living in Lisbon, Portugal: youtube/NyCogsAogTQ (PS: There's a typo in the US expenses at the end (it should be $500 for Amazon purchases) but the total amount is correct) Comment from : Traveling with Kristin |

Forgive me if it's not my business, but how do you make your living, what is it you do, I cannot imagine this Youtube site pays for all this Only curious Tell me to bog off if you wish Comment from : Mark Shippen |

Hello from a Brit Please also remember that there is no tax added at the till (unlike USA) to food or anything the price you see is the price you paybrTesco meal deal is under £4 this consists of a sandwich, a side, and a drink Well worth paying Keep up the good work and enjoyable videos Comment from : 151BOSS |

Hello Kristenmy family is moving to the UK in a couple of months We were wondering if you had advice or tips on how to get proof of address We wanted to secure a flat before we get there but not sure how they would go about proof of address since we do not currently live there Thanks! Comment from : David Tia Jones |

Miami has crazy prices for groceries I live in California and I spend no more than 100 dollars a week for 2 people, sometimes even even 50 dollars If we're shopping for Thanksgiving or hosting a dinner we might spend more but it's still not that crazy Comment from : banicata |
I'll be returning to the UK in a few days for another half year and will be paying #500 to share a house with family, Typically to have your own 1bd flat is at least #800 a monthbrFood is half the price of the US When I first moved to the US decades ago, I recall US food was half the price of the UK, now its reversed for some reason Comment from : John Jakson |
i live in the north east of england, in an old colliery village, i pay 39000 for a 3 bedroom house, patio and garden and shed, it is 3 bedrooms, gpod size living room and a big kitchen, with one big bathroom and toilet combined fully central heated, there are two bedrooms on the upper floor and the third floor bedroom is a loft coversion, easily get a double be in , with wardrobe space set at the sides Comment from : sean mc |

You should have shopped at ALDI in the US Prices are similar to what you saw in Manchester Comment from : Ask a Rocket Scientist |
That's quite expensive still, but at least it is cheaper than where you were staying in Miami At least there are ways which you can make the overall costs more manageable I'm sure the costs would change too depending on the location too kind of like how it is in the US Great video! Comment from : Scottman895 Travel |
We just got back to the United States after living in Europe for 9 months and we're currently experiencing sticker shock on food and groceries here We went to a farmers market in Wisconsin and paid $7 for 2 tomatoes and 2 peppers😬 In Bulgaria, Albania and Portugal we spent about half of that for the exact same food and it tasted better! I'm surprised at how expensive train travel is We took a 3 hour train ride from Lisbon down to the Algarve in Portugal and paid $34 per person for a 1st class ticket Lots of good information, thanks! Comment from : The Wandering Hartz |
The US artificially inflates its food prices via the Jones Act which makes it too expensive to move goods around the US via cargo ship Comment from : adrian adrian |
Kristin, you will be able to see the ancient art I guarantee it ❤ Comment from : Faces in the Stone |
saying Tesco and Marks & Spencer together is foolish as Tesco is one of the cheaper stores while Marks & Spencer is deffinatly in the higher category when it comes to out-cost for food Comment from : MrZombie |
Hi Kristin, your comment on income tax is incorrect You are allowed to earn £12570 before paying tax Anything over that is taxed at 20, up to £50270 (Basic rate)brOver £50270 is taxed at 40 (higher rate)brOver £125410 is taxed at 45 (additional rate)brbrGreat videos by the way! Comment from : Peacefrog |

Are there costs associated with working as a DJ as a tourist here? Work permit, special visa or liabilty insurance? Comment from : Roller Baz and Coaster Dad |
Hello Kristin I am a new subscriber just came across you channel today You said how much you are paying for internet with Virgin and that is about right We have had issues with them so we tried out 3 via Mobil connection as it was only £20 a month We have 4 very active users all streaming everything and it always works( 9 months so far) If you are in a good signal area on you phone it might work well for you I have no affiliation with any of them I am just really happy to be paying 1/3 of what Virgin wanted and 1/4 of what BT wanted Setup is a total easy, just put in the SIM card plug it in and it works Anyway, I will be enjoying your content take care and enjoy your time in the UK I moved here 20 years ago from North America and it is really interesting to see and hear about other’s experiences as when I came YouTube did not exist Comment from : UkPaul Louis |

You can't live in Manchester and commute to London!! Comment from : Mark Starr |
As you realise, if you stay regularly, you can reduce these costs and have a decent life style through thoughtful choices The rise in prices, definitely has impacted everything Many, like you can absorb the blowsbr Great video, not just for US citizens, i found it fascinating, and I live in London! ❤ Comment from : Cyannatural |

You don't pay any tax on the first £12,570 Comment from : J |
I would love to see you do a review on Ross on the YouTube channel That Johnston Life! He moved his young family from England to Queensland, Australia a few years ago! He does honest, first hand, personal experience, prices and lifestyle comparisons too! 🤔👍 Comment from : Jennifer Harrison |
Ref tzxes The video is a little misleading The first £12,570 you earn is totally tax free The NEXT £37,700 is taxed at 20 ie JUST your income above £12,570 If you earn £12,570 + £37,700 ie £50,270 you pay tax at 20 just on £37,700 which is £7,540 Hence the effective tax rate is £7,540 on £50,270 which is 15 However, note we also have to pay National Insurance (theoretically to pay into our government pension) at another 12 on earnings up to £50,268 and 2 above that Comment from : Peter F Here |
ALDI just bought 400 Winn-Dixie and Harveys stores - interesting I 🇨🇦 was set to retire to the UK, but their cost of living makes that iffy now Comment from : Dan Mayberry |

You say that you're in the UK as a tourist, you also say that you work as a DJ I'm no expert but in her book about moving to the UK from the US (Three Things You Need to Know About Rockets)Jessica Fox tells us how she got into bother by doing voluntary work whilst here on a tourist visa Be careful Comment from : Phil Coogan |

That is wayyyy too much… brI would not find the UK cost effective Comment from : Vanessa Ocampo |
Thank you, a great video and entertaining as usual You us Florida as a comparison but I would guess that if you lived in NY, Chicago or LA your $7,000 would be close to $10,000 a month In Canada prices are also out of control, especially home prices (including rent) If you choose to live in Toronto or Vancouver you better have a fat weekly income cheque or a very generous inheritance because you will need itbrbrThanks again! Comment from : Mark Baron |
Buy onions instead of apples - they're always much cheaper Comment from : Gareth Moors |
Wow! What supermarket chains did your buy your groceries from? The budget seems to be high, I live in California and only spend about $250-350 a month in groceries but I do meal prepping that last 4-5 days Comment from : Lloyd I |

I have no idea why I'm watching this when I'm British and I've lived here pretty much all my life but hey ho, I"m enjoying myself nonetheless Comment from : Fran |
I'm a UK/US dual national; No one commutes from Manchester to London unless they stay in London during the week and weekends in Manchester as the distance is too far Also, to obtain a long-term lease, you need to have proof that you have a visa that is valid over the entire term of the lease If you have an automobile, the cost of fuel is more than double that in the US Also, London has the most expensive public transportation in Europe If you earn income in the UK, you must pay taxes to HMRC However, you can deduct these taxes from your US income taxes BTW, I too am from Miami However, I haven't lived in the US sine 1998 Comment from : Mr Bush Lied |
The greed of companies and any government in any country there greed holds no bolds they are pushing up inflation up making the cost of living crisis not high inflation! Comment from : Wendy Jones |

A lot of it is landlord-dependent - mine is happy to have someone who always pays and causes him minimal hassle beyond the odd repair I'm in a single bedroom flat in the centre of Edinburgh and pay £650 p/m (around $820 p/m) Comment from : Travel, Tech and Art |
Thank you for another great video I was thinking of moving to England but since watching this video and knowing there is a housing shortage I am going to hold off until things get better I live in Central Florida so your comparison to Miami really hit home for me as far as cost comparison Your videos are such a delight to watch Comment from : Micah Tibbe |

Doesn’t help renters when interest rates are so high - at the very least there should be legislation preventing landlords from renting if homes are sub standard ie mould, poor ventilation and inefficient heating and forced to use professional letting agents Comment from : Freddie Mac |

Inflation is always and has always been caused by an expansion of the money supply by federal banks They are public enemy #1 Government causes inflation by printing money and devaluing it That’s what drives prices up, not wars and not greedy businesses They just need to cover their costs Comment from : J R |

The clear trend at the moment is everywhere is getting more expensive! This will probably just get worse as global dominance of ‘the West’ wanes, and poorer countries develop more, and start to compete for resources Comment from : Peter |

I´m a Brit that lived there for 20 years I have also lived in Switzerland, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Paraguay, China & Spain The ones who voted Brexit tend to belong to the older generation Living in Spain (or anywhere in the EU) has greatly affected my options but the lack of common sense has been FAR worse for England Ireland & Scotland will definitely be rethinking their relationship in the UK soon enoughbrPS: Kristin, just got back from a holiday in Croatia & had time to get through 200 pages of your book! It´s damn good & very comprehensive Will be recommending Comment from : Dan Tonkin |

I'd have to think that rent is cheaper in Scotland (other than maybe Edinburgh and Glasgow) Also renting outside of major cities would be cheaper in most places? Wondering too whether Brexit has an effect on the prices Comment from : Gillian Tracy |
The LSE is a anti- Brexit cartel so they ALWAYS blame Brexit Comment from : Rob Harris |

I've been very much wanting to move to the UK - but I really don't think now is the best time I currently live in the Bay Area and my monthly expenses are about $3000 I don't want to leave the most expensive area in the US just to land in another very expensive place I'm considering other countries in Europe that are much cheaper - maybe Bulgaria (thanks to the videos you've done!) Comment from : Paige Michele Sargent |
The US produces 85 of its own food so its hard to see how double and even more is justified The UK imports 46, most of that is from the EU Its also worth noting that garbage collection is automatic for everyone This is covered in council tax Finally, its not as easy to disconnected water, gas and electricity here in the UK, unlike in the US Comment from : Amenhotep The Third |
Great video, I'm enjoying viewing your video from SF Bay Area, California - one of the most expensive places in the world - Hope to go on holiday in UK next year and it looks somewhat cheaper although not on par with a place like Bali or SE (went last year and got spoiled with low prices/favorable exchange) Comment from : d landis |
