I went for my first solo trip to England this summer I budgeted by doing a great deal of research For meals I would buy a pre made lunch at a local grocery store and supplemented breakfast and supper with fruit Please note not all Hostels supply breakfast since COVID I was pretty disappointed at a few places which advertised they do and didn't Check and recheck In England hands free payment is the norm I only had enough cash on me to pay for tips I also prepaid my credit card Meaning, I had an "overpaid" amount Very important, advise your credit card company and bank when and where you'll be travelling to avoid being "denied" Be flexible I was there during the heatwave and my train to London from Edinburgh was canceled 3 times So, after checking the Trainline (LNER) will honour my original pass, i booked it to Glasgow instead Keep an extra budget for unforeseen situations beyond your control I'm 50 years old and its never too late to travel solo!
