This is a lot easier than doing the chemical thingbrMy father was an Industrial Arts teacher He explained plating to me and how they could get plating off of things This is the first time I actually saw it donebrWhen you are scraping the silver off, why not use a pyrex dish so you aren't fighting a canning jar?

Why not use pure silver bar on the + and have the glass and solution on the heat stove it may transfer the silver to the pure silver bar, that’s reverse gold plating, good video thanks

Make sure you don't throw away the de-plated silver spoons Usually, the underlying metal is brass or copper, usually brass You can sell that at your local scrap yard for $3/lb brass and $2/lb for copper Helps to cut down the cost of raw materials AND you've got the silver

I just used a grinder and got a pound of grinding off about 25 pounds of scrap So there will be a bit of copper for A HCI bath to work on Process took a couple of hrs So far Really good for platters

You should never use tap water always use distilled water the chlorine will make the silver non salvage and your stamentbrLevel with green slime from the stainless is from chlorine and stainless basic chemistry 1st year students learn never mix stainless with chorine

Youre absolutely using chemicals That green color is copper chloride & is toxic as hell Do not pour down the drainbrLeave a piece of iron in that solution to cement out the toxic copper before disposing Use baking soda or lye as an electrolyte to avoid releasing chlorine (mustard) gas during electrolysis

Hey from a jewelers point of view I suggest that you should use "kosher salt" you can find it in the international section in The grocery stores if it isn't in the spices section with the regular salts😘 Morton brand makes a good sized box of the kosher salt that lasts a long time👍💯

I use Potassium Nitrate as my electrolyte I get very different results The Silver comes off pretty well I think making Silver Chloride is the problem with using a Table Salt as your electrolyte

Maybe a denture cleaning brush might work? Might be easy-ish to rinse out metals They are only a buck or two and very stiff bristles, NOT for teeth or gums!
