In my area they called computer technician the "Computer Engineer " basically the real meaning of that is computer install technician or computer repair technician

maintenance is the big one now services, monthly that's about it But even that is starting to die off even in the past 2 or 3 years these oses now are very advanced, set themselves up, and you dont even need to manage anything anymore lol

Sir company are down sizing in singapore And the role of the IT guys are not in order The company to save costs and the individuals that work in the IT department have to do all the work So there no specific designations Like System Administrators,Technicians,Engineers anymore These what we face now in our country The jobs are open to only foreigners but to locals And we losing our iron rice bowls And gone for unemployed

I started my business in late december and officially launched January of 2019 i have gotten my first 50 clients and got 2 people on monthly maintenance service packages for 120 a month each 1 of them is a contractor business and one of them has a business where they need to keep their servers running I'm already seeing a pattern with this the appointments for the calls from the average person is NOT going to be the bread and butter of my business It's going to be providing services and maintenance to people and businesses it's not just computer repair anymore it's going to be mainly a computer service provider I'm going to basically go all out here soon and start going business door to business door in my area and let them know about me brbrbri will always be doing calls here and there for people, but i already am shifting my business plan for being a service provider for IT instead of just computer repair I constantly think of ways to do things and I see the future being that

You know what, I can’t believe what you’re saying right now! End users break things regularly, companies can’t send the computers to the manufactures every minute or every day! Plus the computers that are there aren’t all brand new to include the warranty, also the end users are doing a very sensitive jobs and they want they’re pc to be fixed right on spot, they can’t wait the next day!!!!!!! brCompanies would lose way more money and clients this way by not having the tasks done on-time!!!brSo every part of the IT is a Must!!! What Manufacturers do have this warranty for a $500 - $1500 computer! I know Dell has onsite but that's business class I use to work for Dell as a CGB meaning Canada large business and government I bought 2 $10,000 servers from HP and they send the 3rd party to fix a raid issue that took 3 days The first sent they sent a damn switch AKA no a mobo and day 2 was the wrong motherboard Day 3 the right one came and I had to show the person how to set up raid with elo Every Thing you say is bullshit Warrants are not that long with lack of support Shit I get system admins calling me for support because they don't know why their new upgrade NVME SSD will not work after they cloned from an old SSD and can't figure out how to convert a MRB to a GPT I get people all the time with Masters I give a week they don't know what the F to do Side note for people reading this, If you know someone in IT that works for a company they are only skilled at one thing that network and that company and rear they experience I see every day serving all

This one breaks my heart, my great uncle owned tv repairs business in the 70s/80s/90s, I come from a family of engineers i was so thrilled to get into IT, i started with home pc support, and working at a computer repair shop, i relay wanted to own my own shop fast foward 6 years i am now a network admin, and im like shoot the IT industry is slowly disappearing with AI replacing workers, and cloud solutions thank god i never paid stupid comptia for any certs I Dont think the average worker understands that big changes are coming you see the infrastructure is built I am currently looking into web design, and marketing As much as i love the IT industry i see it slowly dying, especially the help desk guys just like it did for pc repair gigs People who have ben in the industry for a few years and have changed jobs / and positions IE desktop support/helpdesk/pcrepair consultants etc know what i am talking about i wish all my Fellow NERDS to stay strong, im 34 and i love tech great vid man nice content

I disagree, I think IT help desk is needed in any large company because a lot of people, still no nothing about computers and will call the IT person, for everything related to there job Windows 10 role out for example, Windows 7 is dead in enterprise going forward in 2020, a lot of users know nothing about Windows 10 and will want IT to help them out I just worked a contract for a Windows 10 role out and it was brutal on how many dumb questions I got, will my keyboard,mouse, printers, and monitors still work with Windows 10 A user will always make mistakes and that's why they need a very helpful IT person Network Administrators have no patients to deal with people There still will be a lot of old people in the work force that still need help in computers You could have every certification and you could still have to help a user install a printer or any basic issue I do think eventually almost all IT jobs in the future will be redundant because of artificial intelligence

I fell ass backwards into a structured cabling job and I can tell you it's going to be a quite a while (if ever) before machines are performing this task I will say, if I was an IT guy, I would set up my office in the headend room were it's a chilly 66 degrees Fahrenheit :D The best part of the day is working in there! You'd need earbuds to drown out the humming of the server after a while though lol

Computer Technician work gets you into the field, and there are still plenty of companies that for one reason or another don't utilize imaging and have printers and other hardware throughout their building that need periodic servicing I'm often shocked at how behind the times most IT departments still are, even in big businesses With that said however, your goal should be to get away from this type of work as soon as possible You'll never make any serious money doing this type of work, and its going to get really old within a few years of dealing with paper jams and installing Microsoft Office day after day after day Learn to program (it pays the most long term), otherwise focus on learning network, security, or server administration

Computers are going to be a necessities in any job in the future I have been seeing jobs in factories that require a repair person to fix and run the equipment in the factory It used to be a person to run the machine only Now, they want you to do everything I have been meeting nurses that can fix the equipment and take care of the patients too Personally with the increase of foreign markets of employees; we are going to have to know how to fix the computer and do bookkeeping or factory work also I went to school for drafting; and when I graduated they were firing all draftsman because they had a new computer system for the engineering department to draft all the blueprints with wide new printers to print the blueprints out I did find work selling computers; but never worked in my field for very long To survive in the future will be a constant learning to become more proficient in your field with the addition of correcting other issues that directly relate to your job I also believe that most jobs are going to be in the self-employment catagory I have noticed that so many jobs in the IT tec field is going in this direction And if you are dealing with issues on location you do not get paid until it is corrected; you are paid as a freelance contractor by the job Also, with the increase of programs to fix systems and back-ups; you will most likely be called for issues that are not easy fixes I have talked to a lot of nice, smart kids that went to these schools and were told they were going to make 50k out of the gate and were not prepared for working without a net They found themselves all alone; trying to fix a problem that was beyond their scope of understanding They ended up quiting the business and found out at tax time they owned a lot of taxes because, they were not aware that they were freelance contrators The government has been trying to stop this practice for years and it is continuing to get worse; infact most jobs are turning in this direction; or going overseas Keep learning and keep moving forward until you find your niche in this crazy ever changing world There is a job for everyone; something you will enjoy doing and you have to just keep looking and trying new things until you find it

Your right most of repairs are done by the company or authorized third party dealers Can't bank on opening a repair or working doing repairs Half of the times items are just replaced or the user buys a new computer due to it being cheaper and more beneficial to do so Plus with more users using cloud storage getting important information can be easily retrieved
