If you want buy a bikeand care about money,, dont look for specialized Comment from : Piotr Szumilas |
This bike was really easy to assemble wwwyoutubecom/post/UgkxMesz3KOGEmwmvyKQfLfrRSUXLFzfVHZA and required very few adjustments out of the box The wheels did not require any truing/adjustments The frame had some small scratches, but nothing majorI did replace the seat though - the seat it came with was very uncomfortable The tires need to be re-inflated every 4-5 days, but this appears to be quite common for the narrow 700x25 tiresOverall, in my opinion, this bike looks and rides like a much more expensive bike Comment from : Larry Reid |

Waiting for my Trek Emonda SL5, 105 mechanical and a deal on bontrager 50mm carbon rims for £3000 Comment from : Andy M |
I'd spend my hypothetical 3000 pounds on a used bike for 2000 pounds and save the 1000 pounds for upgrades and maintenance/gear Comment from : Fa Gyu |
In 2023 as someone who wants a rim break bike with 105 mechanical shifting, and good wheels for under 2,000 I gotta build one The cost for a machine to build it I guess will be worth the extra money Comment from : carlos diaz |
buy a specialized sl6 sports tarmac Comment from : renz news |
Id never touch that specialized because of those welds Comment from : Lilsloppynutsack |
Disappointed they didn't include going for a secondhand £3k option :(brbrThat must get you something ridiculously good if my searching through Facebook Marketplace today was anything to go by ! Comment from : Raj UK |
An allez sprint Really??? Are you guys paid by Specialized? Who actually buys an alloy frame at 1700 quid?? A giant tcr pro is the same price Oh and it’s abt 500g lighter and more comfortable Like let’s put on these wonderful bell of the north comfy tyres on a bone shaker frame? Seriously considering your being paid by certian brands Comment from : Greg Kane |
Nice overpriced frames, better a Stevens Aspin ultegra for 1600€ Comment from : * |
used everything - 2K Comment from : David Murphy |
With my $3,750 US, I'm getting a vintage steel, rim brake, externally cabled frame set and building it out with full Ultegra 6500 or Dura-Ace 7700 in silver Comment from : Ranger Smith |
That's pretty much what I've done over the winter I put together a 7kg full carbon disc brake aero bike Just gotta know where to look to get a bargain and unfortunately, 99 times out of 100 your LBS ain't it Comment from : Michael Mechex |
Mechanical all way wish Shimano would still offer it going forward as there’s still a market for it I know they have the new CUES but they should still have the higher levels just my opinion 👍👍🏅🚴 Comment from : Pete Franks |
These days you can buy a really good quality frame set for less than $1,000 No reason to buy these top name brands Many Chinese companies are producing top quality bikes and bike parts for much less than the name brands, and they're probably built in the same factories or by the same people Just do your homework There are many channels on here featuring people who buy all the different Chinese brands and test them thoroughly so you don't have to Comment from : Shep Shape |
4th way would be to get a part time at a bike shop for the summer and use the discount! Comment from : Drew Felix |
Trek emonda AL5 for £2300? There are laods of 2022 SL5s still around for 2 grand I would not be paying that for an alloy frame Comment from : John T |
3000 pounds for a rim brake are enough Comment from : LORENZO DE STEFANO |
Or you could go for 2200€ Canyon Endurace CF 8 with full ultegra groupset and full carbon ;) Comment from : Johannes Busemann |
I'd like to see this with a similar budget, but with the restriction of the various cycle to work schemes Mainly because that's how I shall be buying my next bicycle! Comment from : James Brown |
Ibis hakka MX, chorus 12 speed, deda touchpoints, Antares saddle for 3400 USD Lots of sales out there to find Comment from : Lincoln Lu |
The 105 DI2 weighs 1kg Mechanical any day of the week and easily serviceable Comment from : Nick Kambitis |
Building one up would be fun Comment from : Chris S |
I would change my wheels from spokes to blades just to differentiate myself from the homeless community Comment from : Aero&LightWeight |
My mate just bought a GIANT TCR Advanced Pro 1 with D12 Shimano & Carbon wheels for less in Australia $5300 AUD Pretty good value Comment from : MarcraM82 |
I really don't think this is the most popular price point I wonder how you came to this number Comment from : Chris van Buggenum |
Caad 13 with 105 and carbon wheels Comment from : Freddie Flores |
Cottons are trash unless you like flats Comment from : pablo marquez |
For 3000£ (AUD$5705) I could buy 16 light weight vintage steel bikes like the one I currently ride; or I could buy one bike and go on a very nice holiday to Japan Comment from : Toshiro Mifune |
Buy a used one I just bought a BMC Grand Fondo GF01 for 150000 It has 11 speed DI2 ultegra, rim brakes tubeless tires, and works just fine Back in 2013 this was a $7,000 bike You don't have to get the latest and greatest Comment from : Rob Robins |
I’d highly recommend before spending any of the money is to get a professional bike fit & you might discover by changing/upgrading a few key components you have a new bike! Comment from : AussieInJapan |
I think I want to upgrade my Cannondale CAAD8 , it’s not new, it’s aluminium and it weighs 12kg’ish, however I have fond memories on it, I’ve looked after it, it still looks new, going super-fast or racing is not my thing, but upgrading from SORA to 105, adding some carbon wheels , maybe carbon forks would be good The new carbon Cannondale Synapse has built in lights and radar which I really don’t want Comment from : Donald Duck |
Hunt wheels are quite horrible judging from user reviews - failure rate is considerably higher than other brands in that price range and you can get better quality from Light Bicycle or Elite wheels Comment from : Dainius Vyšniauskas |
Just bought a trek 5200 oclv in mint condition for 500 euros Comment from : ET rode a bike As well |
For $3000 I'm looking at buying used Steel or Titanium, Not Carbon fiber Comment from : Charles Man |
I think the value someone puts on frame material impacts this decision If carbon fiber frame is required, I'd build it up from the frame If aluminum works, I'm upgrading a budget bike Can't really see any scenario where I spending 3k on a new complete bike Even at that price I'd be changing something Comment from : Jason Brown |
Caad 13 with better wheels Comment from : Ronit Debnath |
Allez Sprint, Emonda, … Canyon Endurace Odd third choice and I own a CF SL8 Endurace Comment from : Corey Allert |
Pause at 6:08 😄 I would love to do both builds but I might take it to $4000 to stick in a SRAM Force 1x groupset on the Allez Sprint (just because) I would do the Emonda ALR exactly the same way you did Comment from : Darth Vulcanis |
One word: canyon ultimate cf sl 8 RIM brake model Now for 2,399 dollars Comment from : Darrin Schwarz |
l do like the Canyon CF option but there is a plethora of old carbon race bikes being sold 2nd hand that come top end parts and weigh in around 6kg for less than 3k and yes they re rim brake bikes which does not bother me at all :) Comment from : richard carr |
I was lucky to get new Giant TCR Advanced 1 on Ultegra for 1980 Euro, so for 1k I may add a pair of carbon wheels from Scribe or Hunt and be on perfect race bike But I chose dt swiss pr1400 for awesome look 😊 and final price with wheels and tires - 2700 Comment from : Stanislav Kindiakov |
Spend 1k on a gravel bike and have a few bike holidays with the rest of the 2k… spending the extra 2 k on a bike ain’t making you fasterbrbr£900 will get you a nice road bike with hunt mason x wheels Comment from : Fish Are Friends |
Crazy we are discussing a 3000£ build with a 105 Like 8 years ago 105 was the rookie groupset and you would rather go for the ultegra to have a decent groupset Crazy how the prices went up and also how 105 increased in quality Comment from : Xtian Eskay |
In Febr 2021 I got a new Colnago CLX with R8050 ultegra di2 rimbrake for 2750 euro 76kg including the Favero Assioma pedals I bought (of course) seperately Comment from : Marco Derix |
