Thanks so much for reinforcing what I am already planning for, and for what I already believebrbrWe become worse every year, exponentially, so why sit at 70 with a pot of gold, when you can retire early and live a genuinely more meaningful life with less

Dennis Stoichkov
I first visited Thailand aged 24 in 1986 About 70-80 baht to the poundbrAnd I still enjoy my visits there brBut since the advent of the internet, the dating scene, the prices, the attitudes and beauty of the working girls is a shadow of its former self (and lets be honest, the girls are what the vast majority of the single males go there for) We don't go there for the culture and foodbrOther things like infrastructure and communications have definitely improved hugely over there since the 80/90s, but the dating scene is a fraction of those glorious days, back in the 1980/90s

I don’t even know how I came across your channel, but this video was playing in the background and got my attention because our situation and story is so similar I joined the military at 17yrs old and did 21 years of active service After that I worked for the state for 5 yrs and local city I live in for 4years I decided to retire and call it quits with working at 47 Just like you I had a divorce in my early 40’s I did nothing perfect & made a crap load of mistakes along the way personal and financial I wouldn’t give up this new chapter in my life for nothing! I remind myself that you can’t put a price tag on a peace of mind Plus I wanted to do things while I was still young, since tomorrow isn’t promised to no one… Awesome video my friend

Totally agree I would love to retire at 50 I'm 53 but plan to at 65 for sure I agree I rather live in a small bungalow in Thailand than live in a flash house working till I die I know people that are still at my work in there late 70s even one person 83 I love Thailand and first went to koh samui over 32 years ago and knew a couple of girls who lived in a tiny room similar to what you were talking about they were so humble and happy thank you for video Les

Hm, the message seems to be, "older people just might know what they're talking about, pay attention" Of course, I never believed that as a kid

I think to have a good life in Thailand you need around 100,000 Baht ($2,700) per month, which would mean that someone would need to have approximately $1 million invested if living by the 3 rule
Comment from : Philip C

and hopefully you will get your state pension in 5 years too Good for you and good luck to you

I already knew your background Les your one of the reasons why I now live in Thailand I sold everything went through a devorce I'm 53 I'm not retired because I actually want to do something while I'm here not sure yet as I don't feel comfortable living off my investments they just about cover my modest lifestyle I've managed to get a decent 3 bed house here in hua Hin for 9000b a month that's an amazing price and it's going to help me out while I find something I can invest in with the help of my girlfriend, keep up the good work my man all the best for now 😁👍🏼💙

Bob
Love this message So many people, groups and institutions play the fear game Western society firsts ropes you into slavery via debt vehicles Cars, houses, credit cards IF you avoid those traps and live well within your means and think outside that box, you will have a much better and happier life As you say Do the things now or as soon as you can because at some point you will not be able to Studies into older people in homes or near the end of life show 1 big common theme among the majority Most have regrets about the things they DID NOT DO, not what they did I like to keep Wayne Dyers' message in my mind every day and act on it "don't die with your music still in you"
Comment from : Bob

Steve McDougal
Great explanation of a simple happy life Good you have found joy in your life I love Thailand and been many times met many Thai people and not one have moaned about their life and they have very little too The saying is the less you have the happier you are

Comment from : adispoon

Eoin
Totally agree with you Unfortunately, I think not many people these days will get the opportunity to retire at that age as most won't have a good enough pension plan For anyone that does though I'd recommend them to grasp the opportunity unless they really absolutely love their job

Hi, Les enjoyed your video I had two friends who I grew up with who both became firefighters and like you, they joined at 19 and they both retired at fifty They went on to become black taxi drivers which require a lot of knowledge and training Very few pass the tests to get their licence I retired at 55 and I don't need to work I was getting ready to retire Thailand and the scamdemic came upon us I will not travel until all restrictions are lifted and one can travel freely I hope one day soon I will be able to retire there Take care GOD Bless you and yours M

Thank you so much I really enjoyed that video ,I have been married to a Thai for 36 years ,I got married at 21 in bangkok,we are still married,I plan on going to bangkok in September for six months to give it a trythe thing I really got from your video was the bit about could you do all the traveling about when you get to 65,I have been very lucky to have traveled to 151 countrys and territories so far,in the last month I have been to Andorra 🇦🇩 Bosnia 🇧🇦 Slovenia 🇸🇮 all new countrys,I really only get a buzz when I am going to a new country, but lately at 57 and we’ll over weight I am finding it very tiring,we already have a condo in bangkok thank you again

Hello Les, agree totally with you, great positive advice, glass half full attitude will take people along way to finding happinessbrIt's important to take that first step as daunting as it may be, in order to achieve one's dreams, otherwise we may run out of time
Comment from : Moss Crowley

The Pretender Thailand
and this my friend was EXACTLY how I felt in 2012 when I traveled to Pattaya for the first time at age 33 and it's why I accepted a voluntary redundancy package at age 41 15 years ago, it's why I took my pension early which is a feature of the plan I am in and it's why I'm about to board a plane to Thailand in August to stay in Thailand at the age of 43! I too was very lucky at age 20 to get into a government employer and I was one of the last in to a defined benefit pension scheme My pension is enough for me to live quite well in most countries of the world I'm also a relatively early Bitcoiner so I have capital as well as the income I'm most interested in Thailand and The Philippines Just 1 more month to go and i'll be in Thailand on an STV for 3 months I'll repeat that process again and again til i'm 50 and can get a retirement visa
