In Basic training Fort Jackson, we had also had a poggo competition There was only 2 Asian trainees which was me and another person from a different squad The DS made us face each other which was funny because the weight difference was insanely large by a margin

USMC Bootcamp does this event "pugil sticks" 3 times during training they have their own specific martial arts training program called MCMAP where Marines earn belt advancements much more effective and lethal! Semper Fi!

This is pretty idiotic You can’t learn hand hand fighting unless you are practicing all the time Just getting together for a week or two to bash each other with padded poles might be a fun release of steam and let a bunch of 19-year-old kids beat their chests, but you aren’t really learning anything useful on a battlefield

I just completed Naval Basic at RTC in Great Lakes, IL I wish we did this type of specialized training because sailors need to know how to fight if enemies come in very close contact with them anywhere If I were in charge of the training at RTC, I'd administer that for sure
