I know I am late to this video but the bearskin hats used to be made out of real bear fur from Canadian bears but they are now faux fur due to the fact that that isn't many bear pelts anymore so completely fake :D

The height requirement is essentially to ensure that all the soldiers are "uniform" in appearance This is true for the US military Mainly b/c uniforms are made for small percentage of the population You can be too tall as well

So many inaccuracies in this video Perhaps if the commentator stopped sneering and did a little research? There is no unit called the Royal Guards In the British Army there are several Guards Regiments (Grenadier, Coldstream, Welsh etc) who serve as front line troops but also do ceremonial duties The regiments rotate and other regular Army regiments (Eg the Gurkhas) have also done guards duties at Buck House! The video shows several different regiments As for melting boots… I used the same polish on my school shoes, it’s called looking smart!

My uncle was in the military he always told me, to be part of the queens guard you don’t sign up you get chosen, not all the hats are made of real fur now about a third of them are an artificial fur and a bit lighter, they’re guns are always pretty much always loaded, the heights important to make them look tall and intimidating
