I would love to get one of either of those coins My grandfather came from Austria in early1900’s and grandmother from Hungary at the same time I never met my grandmother she died when mum was 13 and grandpa did not want to talk about it He always said “You are American, you do not need to know” What a shame Comment from : ALI ILJAH |

I agree their color is outstanding That teeny tiny bit of copper really does something to the color The funny thing is that both the 1 ducat and 4 ducat is same thickness Since the 4 ducat is exactly double diameter and area therefore is 4 times larger then in order to be 4 times weight it has to be same thickness - and IMHO the 1 ducat is already thin enoughbrI don't know how to date them But just a few weeks back I bought a brand new 1 ducat that has proof like finish as well For some reason the 4 ducat was more than 4 times as expensive even though they where both new straight from the mint So IMHO it could very well be that the prooflikes are quite new and the matte ones are older That IMHO makes sense because in the old days they didn't bother making shiny surfaces that is quickly worn off anyway Instead they make tons of details and the ducats doesn't disappoint IMHO though they're not quite up to the Danish 10 and 20 kroner from 1908 and onwards You really should get a good preserved one of these and look at those very fine details Wouldn't surprise me especially in the shield it's details that are on par or even surpasses the new 2021 Britannia The shield has so many details and fine stribes you only see with a 10 or 20x loupe it's really amazing! So details wise modern coins are IMHO not that amazing but they can have very shiny perfect and very delicate surfaces! Probably not my last ducat - premiums are very low on them too - some of the best for fractional gold Get the cheapest 1/10 modern bullion and compare it to the ducat The ducat (at my local dealer, Tavex) is only 2 pounds more expensive but has 0,33 gram more gold and much better buy back price too Being in EU both fulfills the "investment gold" definition so it's a no brainer for small fractional gold Comment from : HifiCentret |
I would definitely love to have the 4 ducat in that 1 ducat finish That would be perfect Not a fan of proof finishes, especially on restrikes Comment from : joeycthedon |
Love the ducats Comment from : Gold N Silver Collector |

BYB I have been obsessed with this 4 Ducat coin ever since I first saw this video nearly two years ago I hope to add one to my collection this month Thanks for all your videos When I go to your channel no videos are listed so I am a bit concerned about that I am in Canada I wonder if that is why I have had a hard time finding your videos over the past few months Comment from : Dakiniwoman |

Recently I was shown a 4 ducat at a shop, but I did not want to buy it as it obviously suffered a lot Its purity of 98,6 combined with its thinness and the shiny finish make it very vulnerable So I decided to get myself just a new one from the austrian mint's webshop Comment from : SVL Antwerpen |
I agree with the commenter below that 'duck-et' is the traditional English pronunciation (appears in Shakespeare's plays) Comment from : wemartin12 |
I love this coin Comment from : Brad Sherman |

I always thought it was pronounced ‘duckett ‘ not ‘doo-cat’? Comment from : tinglestingles |
While I've always been attracted to 1 ducat (and similar coins like swiss/french 10 franc) coins They look beautiful and the premiums are usually great (for fractional coins) but, I've often found the fractional amounts (01106, 01867, etc) harder to sell here in the US Many (not all) people are just more comfortable with common factional amounts (1/10, 1/4, 1/2 oz) Comment from : __ HJG__ |
I going for the trade dollar Comment from : gligor1290 |

In Belgium you can buy 200 year old golden belgian/French/Dutch/Swiss/italian coins for 1-2 over spot at almost every dealer 3 for a restrike coin is actually very expensive but anyways, I would love to see the mermaid coin next week Comment from : Lino Borremans |
Those are very thin indeed and with such a high purity can probably be easily bent I am voting for Canadian maple leaf Comment from : Iggy Reserve |
The Ducat is beautiful for, as you said, it's old world charm But it just feels like a royal coin For next week I'll vote for the Mermaid again Comment from : Kevin McGlothlin |

PURDY! Comment from : ClockFixer 1964 |
Beautiful gold coins, it's great that the Austrian Mint produces restrikes of their historic coins I wish more countries would do this brUntil now the only Austrian restrikes I have are the 8 Florin gold coin and the Maria Theresa thaler Unlike the Maria Theresa thaler there should be no different restrikes of the Ducat Comment from : Andre G |
The Mermaid please 👍 Comment from : gerry2828 kelly |
Beautiful and very thin ducat! I'll vote for the mermaid Thanks for the show my friend Comment from : Alexander R De Voogt |

Is the large Ducat heavy? It doesn't look real Not really interested Comment from : Ken Franke |
You could hardly pick that off the table, it is wafer-thin! There's just something about it that I like, I think it might be the actual size of it I have always liked that design as well splendid presentation my friend, just wonderful i would love to vote for the trade dollar next week Comment from : Shiny packAGe |
I'd be interested to see how much the Ducat coins are going for in the American market, something I think I'll take the time to check out I liked the look of the one ducat better The mirror effect just didn't seem to help the four ducat coin aesthetically in my opinion I'd like to see the trade dollar next week Comment from : Luke Francis |
I know you love your gold coins, but this one is not to my taste I much prefer the 50 peso gold coin, that thing is amazing I think the 4 ducat is just too shiny and it looks, dare I say it, cheap? brbrThen again gold is gold, so who cares right?!brbrEDIT: Mermaid! Comment from : Stacker Noob UK |
