please don't eat the daisies sad thing about your finds or hoards as you call them is that they happened upon tragedy a conflict of some sort, perhaps a stolen hoard and the theef was killed not to reveal the whereabouts maybe a family died of thirst and that's how those coins came to be, they rotted right out of their gunny sack hidden in the coffee box whats even better than the finds are the stories of how they came to be, specially where you are, those stories could be very old indeed piracy, looters, wars, scuffles, hale the entire landscape was prolly very different, may have been a small town at one point, a popular comp site? too bad you cannot trace the story of how they came to be, now that's the real gold

The fact they under stone should be looked at by archaeologists The stone may be remains of a structure of some kind, or a marker for the buried coins, especially as the stone doesn’t seem widespread across that site
