From seeing the flash to lighting the object you've lost 2-3 seconds Also, there is a possibility the fence can still be static within the 1-2 seconds from being shut off So in this scenario you're better off not thinking like Albert Einstein and find a more suitable escape route

My first thought was to time the fuses together and use the lighter as a weight to time it based on pendulum swings, but the lengths of the fuses isn't given

I took "burns irregularly" to mean that it burns irregularly with respect to itself, so if I light it from one end, it will burn in 60 seconds, if I light it from the other end, it will burn in 60 seconds, but that I can't assume it will burn in 60 seconds with the same distribution function as if I burned it from the other end In that sense, burning "irregularly" would mean I can't assume a fuse burnt from both ends would last 30 seconds

To the people that say 'just count 45 seconds':brbrIt's actually alot harder than you think to count 45 seconds precisely, you'll either count it 1 second too late or 1 second too early, if it really were that easy, this wouldn't exist, listen to 0:41, if you make even the slightest miscalculation, you'll get deep fried and served with a side of chips, so no, you can't just count 45 seconds if the fence comes on 2 seconds later

"It'll automatically restart after a second or two" Okay so best case scenario the fence restarts after 2 seconds His hands contact the fence for 25416 seconds Even if his timing is impeccable, he still holds the fence way too long and should be dead Thus, this riddle is impossible to solve with the information provided

I would have stuck the wire in the fence, which would overload the system and forcefully disable it,and later (if no one is looking or guarding) I would get my partner near the door and burn the sharp nails they have on the top of the fence,thus making an escape
