I'm definitely a people pleaser My dad was abusive, so if I didn't say and do everything to keep him happy, he'd blow up I've had ex-girlfriends a foot shorter than me and almost half my weight, but that fear of saying or doing something that might upset them still consumed my mind It's a daily struggle, but I'm slowing recovering and becoming more true to myself

Growing up, being the oldest of my siblings, I was held to very different standards I was expected to achieve and exceed while my siblings were free to flounder If I had poor grades or got caught for teenager stuff, I was villainized while my siblings were coddled While I cared about my siblings, they had zero empathy, compassion nor integral interest in me as their sister They acted like spoilt brats expecting me to cater Anyhow, the impossible standards that made me a workhorse in my family invariably cultivated the strength for me to leave them and go no contact on all their asses (siblings included) Peace never tasted sweeter Most likely my siblings will be codependent for life unless they do some excruciating self-introspection I now struggle with the fear that if I don’t work the hardest I won’t survive (While there’s some inherent truth to that, it’s too extreme) I am constantly doing too much at work and burning out Boundaries Boundaries Boundaries

Im trying to be a people pleaser most of the time but in my way I know when to say no and give input if I see something that needs to be addressed becuse it will hurt more in the long run In the end I am the "Fool" meaning I dont care what people think about me in the moment and Im not afraid to ask questions to learn and by doing so give others around me the ability to see its ok to ask and u get more respect most of the time by doing so No one is afraid of the fool the fool has a much easier time getting along with people and learn to see the whole picture not just the moment for the betterment of others before himself Well anyway thats how I see myself and makes my life alot more better not just for myself but others around me

I like this video! Unfortunately, I can find a lot of signs in my own behaviour, although I had no problems with saying 'no'brWhat I don't get though: I know a lot of people who had these issues in their youths Many of them aren't able to handle a 'no' in general, no matter how nice and loving

Im trying to figure out myself and heal from what I have experienced in the past I’ve realized I am a MAJOR people pleaser And about the mom and dad thing suggesting something different and demanding things aggressively or whatnot actually developed me into that people pleaser lifestyle Because if I hadn’t done something right that my stepdad asked for, he would fume up and get angry or agitated and to avoid that I would do absolutely EVERYTHING in my power to not upset him But he’s gone now and my mom isn’t with him anymore so I feel like I can finally breathe and try to heal in my own comfort and pace

I hide from people so they won't harass / bully me I've learned to move in SILENCE because if you don't you become a target You'll have to listen to gossip, lies, threats, demands, etc If they can't see you, you cannot become a target Don't people tell people your business it gives them the ammunition to destroy you I finally learned to be a quiet, private person I'm a lot happier

I do people please sometines because I have a lot of friends from different groups that I talk to I dedicate a lot of time to my friends and building my relationships with thembrbrSometimes this can cause me problems as I burn out and lack energy I always find there isn't enough time to do everything and that can be really devastating to realise

I've been a people pleaser for such a long time Mostly because I was afraid of backlash and being hated But eventually I realized two truths One I'm not a little kid anymore There's very few people who actually would and could react in a way that would devastate me physically To be hated it isn't even a big deal People can hate me as long as I don't hate myself Why should I care about being hated by someone who's reason for hatred is that I opened up about my true feelings and didn't allow my boundaries to be violated It's not my problem if they are immature in that way
