This is one of those videos that demonstrate people don't understand the different "flavors" of government money Once a budget has been accepted and funds are allocated to a department or agency, it is very difficult to move the money again That was why Trump had to call the border a crisis to use military money even though there might have been other government money that was not being used Most the programs he mentioned sounds like some sort of scientific study, which means they were probably grants from the National Science Foundation brbrAnother interesting aspect of the government budget process is if an agency doesn't spend all their money every year, they get less the next year So if it is close to the end and there is money left over they will try and spend it any way they can, even if it means on seemingly frivolous scientific studiesbrbrThe $20M runway repair, while it seems like a lot, is not an unusual amount considering how much engineering goes into a runway This was probably being planned for years and was just funded And it will probably be in the works for several more years Of all the things mentioned this is the most mundane and is not really a waste of taxpayer dollarsbrbrWhile I normally like the "lets see how stupid college students are" pieces by Will, this one is a lot more nuanced People can see that tax dollars are being spent if they want to look ( wwwgovinfogov/features/budget-fy2020 ) Surprising people with some of the crazy things the government spends money on looks badly on PraegerU There are so many other things that are wrong with the leftist's mindset that would be better to attack
