Claude Bussieres
Thanks very much for your Recommendations Tony! The average consumer doesn’t know what to buy and this video narrows down choices to your professional, experienced viewpoint I heard you mention one of my favourite cameras twice which I’m going to be purchasing used in the very near future The Nikon D 5300 with the 18 to 140 mm lens can be had for roughly $450 Canadian dollars and will be more than enough for my amateur needs for now I’ll make sure to pick up a good quality 50 mm lens and look forward to continued learning with your awesome referencesbrCheers to you and your family from Montreal, Canada!

Brown Hat
You've listed cameras going from $1,000 up to the stratosphere! Any budget? Yeah, if you're wealthy

Nehiel Rivera
Looking for some advice on finding the right camera for road trips, nature shots, adventure shots I can't afford the heavy duty cameras in the thousands of dollars, my budget is within $300 -$600, maybe $700, but $700 would be pushing it
Comment from : Nehiel Rivera

Deb Cropper
Just came across your video…did you under your tone, called your views “cheapskates “??????? I would hope that was just a bad joke!
Comment from : Deb Cropper

What about video cameras

Dr Tod
It's not the camera that produces the image but the lens and the individual behind the camera that produces the image Any modern system regardless of sensor will produce professional results The key is to understand the tool (camera) you have and leverage its strengths and weaknesses MFT camera systems did not even have a mention which is unfortunate due to overall package size and outstanding weather sealing (Olympus/OMS) Important for those who travel where most FF cameras make you stand-out rather than blend-in
Comment from : Dr Tod

Northwest Travels
So nikon nuked the D500?
Comment from : Northwest Travels

I have to disagree with the lower end recommendations I got an NEX-5T with the kit lens for $150, a good niche of affordability With Auto HDR mode or bracketing it takes better photos than iPhones Video is lacking, but phones can't replace the glass Found an old Pentax 50mm ƒ14 and now it's a good portrait camera Next for me is a Lumix with some primes, and that should still be under $1000 in the used market Additionally, affordability means I get to practice and improve without worrying about dropping a $1,200 phone that holds my digital life All that said, RAW editing is the highest value upgrade to any kit, including phones

febryand artansyah
Nice recommendationsbrBut the problem is I want take Canon EOS RP, but there no cheap lense right now brI need like tamron 28-75mm f28 on Sony full frame, cuz this zoom lense so very versatile with low aperture and didn't cost more than 900 USD in my country
Comment from : febryand artansyah

DaxLogan1
Tony I notice compact cameras don't seem to have flash I am looking for a light weight portrait and travel camera Is there such a thing? I am trying to stay below $900 if possible

Comment from : Tom D

AlexCootieArt
Which of these recommendations are compatible with bayonet mount film camera lenses? I have used a Fuji point and shoot for yearsbefore that, Olympus OM-10 I have very small hands, the Fuji point & shoot cameras fit perfectly in my hand Unfortunately the older version that only has 7mp has the better computer chip, the newer one sucksI have both and never use the bewer/higher mp camera
Comment from : AlexCootieArt

Chuck Ellis
Can someone recommend a camera for youtube/instagram that doesnt have wifi or bluetooth?
Comment from : Chuck Ellis

Comment from : Joseph Chan

Casey Bachmeyer
did you put the laowa probe lens on the r3 for star photography? 🤣
Comment from : Casey Bachmeyer

Richard Lee
Canon 6D is a beast and although a bit outdated, it's still my workhorse camera paired with good lenses, still gets incredible shots Especially since Im used to it now and its a part of my workflow, I learned to be very efficient with it So in general although an older camera might not be the fastest or have the best/fastest autofocus, if you learn it and practice with it, and become efficient, you will still get great results but I want the R5 eventually 😅😭
Comment from : Richard Lee

Jason Goweser
I think I'm gonna go for R6
Comment from : Jason Goweser

douglas armey
Interesting comparison My question is what is better for basic fire scene documentation? Everything I deal with is just a burned black room I use a Nikon D7000 and can usually get the image I want, but it weighs a ton and I do alot of shoot and move Looking for a lighter durable camera that can get the detail and depth of field from a pile of burned fire debris without switching constantly to multiple different lenses Any edge on one of these cameras, or others to consider for this type of work?
Comment from : douglas armey

DeltaRoSigma
Very informative video Why is the UI on digital cameras so primitive? I've often wondered It's like you say: from 20 years ago The viewer and lcd screens are also ancient

Y D
So i understand that nomatter how much camera cost - it can not perform best in everything For sport you need to buy one camera for $8k, for video second one, for regular everyday pictures you need third camera, for travel 4th
Comment from : Y D

Royalness
Great Vid I like your style, pretty informative and entertain to watch Sometimes you cut so fast it can confuse one idea with the next one for example at 4:49 -5:00 shen you said "serious portraiture, casual portaiture" (I watch it 3 times cos I didn´t understand well what you said) I think a category you missed is which camera you would recommend for filmmaking and I would love to hear your recommendatios I love the fact that you put your money where your mouth is XD because that give us confidece that your no doing just for sponsors or anything
Comment from : Royalness

Robbi Turner
I am looking at the Canon R7 to upgrade from Canon T2i and Nikon P900 I'm an "auto" girl right now but would love to grow into this camera A gentleman with Canon R5 and very long lenses told me the way to go the R7 or 10 I love taking pics from moving vehicles, including the back of motorcycles and wildlife I'll be reading more of your books and watching videos now for sure The R7 is unavailable right now and I'll take any advise for my novice love of taking nice photos

Why not recommend the D850? It does everything except video well as you would expect from "the best SLR ever" And, it seems like a bargain Thanks
Comment from : PAT MORRISON

Robert Hocker
A month to learn basics is good I want to use my camera for research in the deep country especially at long ranges as well as close up photography for advertisement purposes
Comment from : Robert Hocker

b0neme
How hard was it to use a 7d2 with a c400 for professional gigs for wildlife? The equivalent of the 20 mp sensor at a 16 crop is like 8 or 9 mp! Can 9mp make saleable wildlife shots? Do you have a gallery of these types of shots? Tnx! (BTW, I just spent $2K at KEH and used your discounts!)
Comment from : b0neme

Nick Bailey
I think you've subconsciously gotten into my head because I have both Tamrom G2 zooms and I'm thinking I must have gone that direction based on your recommendations Now I'm looking into the Canon R6 and this video seems to say it's a no-brainer I've purchased maybe 5 canon bodies over the years, but can't recall- do they ever go on sale? I feel like I remember the R6 coming with the adapter for a short time?
Comment from : Nick Bailey

Darko Pandza

Comment from : Z M

Michael
I can’t decide on if I want to buy a Canon R7, a Nikon Z5 (bought can be bought new at same price) or a Nikon Z6 that’s on sale for like $100-200 more Non-professional, just want a nice camera to have for home stuff, portrait photos, videos of my children, and eventually probably sports and stuff for the children I just can’t decide what’s best all around brbrI think I’ve decided on the Canon R7 as both Nikons are 3ish years old Idk about that /:

Comment from : Policeluber

TheNotSoOkayGuy
The 70D is moreso a general purpose camera than vlogging imho, a G7X (mark i or ii) would make much more sense in it's place considering it's lighter weight and slimmer body

Travel Droner
Hey great video thanks, one question please what camera would you recommend for cooking videos 1080 60fps maybe 120fps for slowmo needs to have good stabilization for handheld shots over food moving and great autofocus so that when moving over different plates it focuses everything as we go over it and not lacking behind making the video unsharp, what are the budget options for this I does not have to be the latest model? thanks
Comment from : Travel Droner

Comment from : Valerio P Nera

Dann Corbit
I bought your book, "Stunning Digital Photography" So now we will discover if it is possible to teach an old dog new tricks A camera for portraits and landscape (but not great for sports) is the Canon 5DS or 5DSR, which can be bought new for about $1500 if you know where to look
Comment from : Dann Corbit

Wendy Thomas
i like you <3 you're quiet likeable as a person
Comment from : Wendy Thomas

Ailenduril
A7iii is best bang for buck
Comment from : Ailenduril

Graham Fagg
A few other possible options:brPentax K1 for landscape and portraits, even maybe for wildlife with the older da*60-250 Also the K5iIS which is readily available on the second hand market Pentax's are rugged, have great controls and are very well weather sealed with bright OVFs and when matched with a handgrip and two batteries give all day shooting and good handlingbrOlympus m4/3s a smaller alternative for outdoors, the E-M1 and original E-M5 being good valuebrFor sports and wildlife a Nikon 7200 has excellent tracking and a great APS senorbrLastly for Canon you should consider the 85/15 USM for portrait photography
