I have actually tried this with my son, and to my amazement when I went in his room and sat with him, he looks at me in confusement He has this strange look on his face and the tantrum stopped immediately I was surprised, thank you guys keep up the hard work

I just got back from the Son Rise Start up and It was the most amazing experience of my life I love these people, and my daughter has responded immediately! Lots of love and blessing to all the parents out there who have a brain blessed child

I understand that the attitude would work with folks, the personality shown in the video is a bit 'over-the-top' for the families with whom I have experienced Yes, we need to look at the opportunities for learning relationship development in naturalized settings and at the point of working with the kiddos I also liked that another of you videos shared the idea of adjusting how we think about the situation quite profound

Now, I cannot see this personality set working in any community in which I have served, but the idea presented, looking at the instructional opportunity is just good practice I don't understand why this isn't more of the focus given this is why we are specialists in the field to instruct on better ways to approach challenging situations, reduce/ eliminate the outbursts to promote better learning and social outcomes for all kiddos Its not so much about 'how' as much as the attitude & goals

my son was diagnosed just a couple of months ago and i'll definitely use your suggestion As a parent of an autistic child you're looking just about everywhere for those moments that really really count Enlightening and very comforting to hear you speak about it so enthusiastically Thumbs up on this vid :)

The most important thing you have to remember in that moment is to feel calm yourself In this calm manner you can explain him that you don't understand him when he's screaming/crying/hitting and that you would understand what he wants and help him if he just used his words (or sounds if he's nonverbal) Getting angry yourself or running to give him what you think he wants just to calm him down as fast as you can isn't useful for him Be that fast when he speaks in a normal calm voice:)
