Amazing how much better Longines watches look with normal length lugs like the Record you featured Not only do long lugs look bad, IMO, but they make watches wear larger thus limiting their audience Longines make weird design decisions in general, like 5 star reviews on the dial, but they did well with this Record Comment from : The Nutcracker |
|
Talk clearly Comment from : Oscar G Raro |

I totally agree with transparency on movement because I am not spending thousands for a crappy movement! I will never buy a watch if they dont disclose the accuracy and specs of their movement Grand Seiko is excellent in detailing accuracy for every single watch which is why it will be my first purchase of a luxury watch When I see no accuracy specs I start to wonder why they are hiding this! brbrI like the Faber and want to buy one but again no accuracy specs so I didnt buy one! Comment from : Vk Travel log |
|
All movements CAN be optimised Regardless of the number of position accuracies, eventually they decline & require attention It's the nature of the mechanical beast However, as noted, assistance with increased scientific knowledge helps (silicon springs) adjusted beat rates to increase power reserves It all adds to the final overall performance for which I am grateful Thanks for your content Teddy, it's always of value & Ben joy "needing out" when my curiosity is aroused Comment from : Peter Hamburger |
|
You really need ads in your videos, which basically are ads in itself? Comment from : spoerloso |

Mine is a cheap Automatic from China, Forsining for only 35 U$ (bought last year)
brIt similar to Patek Phillipe Chronograph Geneve with date, day, month and 24 hour display
brI had manually tuned it with handphone stopwatch for 3 days and now, wolaaa :
brThe accuracy is pretty good, +15 sec/day in Horizontal and -10 in Vertical position
brI wind it up 10 to 11 turns every 6AM and 6PM a day
brCombine that position and wearing it for work, it can achieve_, +/- 5 sec a day, After a month of using, my watch still exactly the same hour and minute with world clock reference Comment from : Herbrata Moeljo |
|
I buy watches for accuracy and functionality more so than fashion or looks So we are talking mostly GMTs, World Timers, and Sports Watches I've not seen any that offer accuracy in their sails pitch They they spend a lot of time talking about all the cool gadgets that I can already see and all the time I'm wondering how well it does all of thisbrYes, my most reliable and functional world time GMT combo sports watch is a Citizen Blue Angel but it has some features I wish were different or better so it aint perfect Comment from : Way Gone |
|

I own a Gruen Pecision chronometer that I've owned for almost 50 years It's been cleaned once in that time and it still keeps amazingly good time Still within a minute in six months, which is not bad for an old mass produced watch At least I think it's not bad My daily watch Comment from : devlieg72 |

Of course Swatch Group dominates COSC certified watches COSC works in close association with Swatch Group and was primarily created to help market Swiss watches as the most accurate in the world Just check their statement on their front page: wwwcoscswiss/enbr"brGUARANTOR OF TRADITIONAL PRECISION SWISS WATCHMAKING
brThe creation of the COSC
brFounded in 1973 and based in La Chaux-de-Fonds, the Official Swiss Chronometer Testing Institute (COSC) is a not-for-profit organisation recognised as serving the public interest, dedicated to Swiss watchmaking Created by five watchmaking cantons (Bern, Geneva, Neuchâtel, Soleure and Vaud), as well as by the Federation of the Swiss Watch Industry (FH), it brings together a number of laboratories that were originally founded as independent institutions in the late 19th centurybr"brIt was a set of originally independent laboratories that became fully dependant when they were bought by the Swiss watchmakers to participate in their Swiss Made (TM) marketing effort after Seiko swiped them 10 years in a row in chronometer competitions They never tried to improve their movements They decided the most effective solution to that problem was to cancel the competition for several years, create a falsely independent laboratory with low standards that would certify Swiss Made watches for free and charge indecent amounts to foreigners, put al their money in marketing pretending that a COSC certificate is worth charging premiums and all watches that don't have COSC certification are rubbishbrMost serious watch companies in the world just ignored those poor sods and decided to rely on their own in-house quality check which has higher standards than COSC The only thing those companies would get from a COSC certification is a huge bill and a paper piece that is worth nothing because any watch that doesn't meet COSC criteria doesn't even get out of their own factorybrbrbrAny watch enthusiast pretending to have even a remote interest in watch precision should at least go to the COSC site and read their own statement and compare their certification standards to the published QC basics of Japanese companies Don't buy their marketing shit Check for yourselfbrA few years ago I made the effort to look at the website for the "Concours International de Chronométrie" to check which watches are the best When I saw that the competition had stopped in the 70s and was only recently revived in 2009, I checked the archives and found past results, the old rulebook that allowed participation to anyone and the new rulebook that only accept participants from Europe Foreign companies are now allowed to participate as paying honorary guests whose results will never be published It was a huge revelation to me as to what all that "Swiss Made precision" hypocrisy truly is: just 100 pure lying marketing designated to keep selling outdated poorly manufactured movements from the 19th century at indecent prices and ripping off misinformed victims while talking shit about modern high quality movements made by reputable companies that do respect their customers Comment from : Christian Barnay |

I had a Grand Seiko Quartz made in 1977 that kept amazing time Certainly over engineered with their 2 second hand indicator when the battery was getting low Recently I gave it away to a good friend Now I mostly wear a little Seiko 7018-8000 chronograph Just a beautiful slim movement and great looking watch for not a lot of bucks Enjoy watching your reviews Thanks Comment from : Tony Goodman |

An accurate watch movement means everything to me Comment from : Teachering |
|
I thought watch enthusiasts would be discerning, so why do they like this video? How can you like a video on 'Most Accurate Mechanical Watches' when it doesn't quantify how accurate they are? Just asserting they're accurate doesn't make them so, because we've no idea what he considers accurate A useless video unless you're interested in power reserve times, which he did provide stats for Comment from : Godfrey Mann |
