I was blessed with several older people as I grew up beside my mothers mother who had the patience to show me how to use mom's throttle sewing machine ect and several who sat on the huge porch at building Where we lived we all embroidered and several veterans of WW2 and a retired magician Who would come out on his back porch and do some magic trucks cause he knew that we would be on our back porch just higher we live 3rd floor building across alley from building he lived on second floor he worked under Harry Black or Blackstone it's been over 67 years agobut I remember him doing this all spring and summer when weather permitted he always waved snd smiled when we clapped guess he missed being on stage either way he made our day and I guess we made his Comment from : Lynn Carden |

When my first daughter was about 6 months old, we were in Sears I was carrying her around while I was looking around An elderly man with gray hair Lisa almost jumped out of my arms, trying to jump into his Needless to say, he was surprised He asked me to wait right where I was so he could get his wife, who tells him all the time that children don't like him I waited and came back up to us, and Lisa jumped again, and thus time he held out his arms to catch her His wife laughed and laughed Lisa did this in the park by our house Elderly people would put out blankets & and chairs, and every time, she would look around for gray hair and run towards the elderly gentleman Comment from : Bren Redhead |

I met my "old person" when I was in my mid 20's and waitressing He started frequenting the restaurant I worked at Nobody wanted to wait on him because he was grumpy so I took on the challenge of getting to know him Every day I made sure he had everything exactly the way he liked it Turns out his wife passed from cancer so he started coming to breakfast in order to get out of the house Over time I learned about his family, his profession, and his hobbies I just became a listener to whatever he wanted to talk about He passed away several months afterwards He was never a big tipper but that was ok I enjoyed our conversations After he passed his son came in and gave me a generous tip and said his father specifically said to bring it to me That's when I knew for sure that I blessed him as much as he blessed me It's never hard to show kindness as you don't know what someone is going through Comment from : S V |
