What I never understand is, what are you supposedly gaining from giving technology to babies and children? I think this piece is asking the wrong question I don't think motor skill development is really a concern people have around babies and toddlers use of digital technology There are other concerns around, for example, their social and emotional development and attention There are recent studies showing that certain cognitive functions are improved by video games But this is not surprising at all What we need to ask is whether these particular cognitive skills are very beneficial to them and what other damage might we be doing to them in other areas? Is it just meant to be a trade off? They'll have better dexterity, it just comes at the cost of autism, is that it?
