The input I get from Professionals, is the CRAP I hear on the radio Country RAP is CRAP George Strait & Alan Jackson put out a song about Who killed Country music It's format was a few chords, a turnaround & a sweet ending It will be playing on the radio for the next 100 years Some of the stuff I hear on the radio, won't be heard, ever again, it's junk Let's follow the money I ain't bought a CD since 85, even these kids get tired of putrid music, that you can't two step to Since there are two formats for Country, the dance song & the concert song But the good ones get a rhythm going in your heart & maybe that person buys a CD Winner I'm 80 , so my hopes might go away soon I did get one song published, it was on the Oklahoma City Bombing Album, the writers gave the money to charity

I wrote a song called “why” after my wife and I had a stillborn baby and I remember that I worked on it and just sang it over and over again in the house for weeks after it happened It helped me heal, but at the same time it tortured my wife having to hear it over and over again She couldn’t understand why I would want to write such a sad song That song was never put on an album or even professionally recorded by me, but it needed to be written I did post it here on YouTube and I’ve received comments and emails from people who related with it and it helped them with a loss that they had, so that was nice I’m 41 now and I probably have 50 or so songs that I wrote over the years and I just wish that they would have at least been professionally recorded I’m actually from Sumter SC, the same place as Lee Brice We graduated from the same school, but he actually went to Nashville and it took him 10 years to make it I just stayed here in town thinking someone was gonna magically find me Lol! Guess it doesn’t work that way

Thanks for your advice and help on song writing, I'm 52 years old and have a few songs I wrote many years ago back in the 90s, one of those songs was written about 9/11 it was my very first country song, but now I feel it's sometimes impossible to get it out there, because I don't have a singing voice, no do I play any type of instruments, but I still have a passion for music and song writing

yes, people tell me they like my songs alot, I play rock mostly and play all instruments, I also dabble in other fun songs and styles that might work, I just need help recording and figuring stuff out so I can concentrate on playing 4 or 5 parts with instruments and vocals so how do I get a manager to listen?

Has it ever helped the quality of your work to say "I'm making this song with Taylor Swift" or "Brooks and Dunn" in mind? Like targeting the artist when writing the lyrics? I come from blues background and it helps my guitar playing to say "how would hendrix jam with james brown"

One thing you helped me realize, Is that singers are more like actors and they have to play the part of the image their songs made them out to be like an actor does, and their real-life could be very different than the image their songs make them out to be perceived, for instance, to me, is AC DC, and they have to maintain that hellish image

Hello Barbara, I was searching how to sell my songs on the internet and on YouTube I found your video very interesting I write songs and I pay a gig to compose the music and sing them for me, I send the lyrics to them and a piece of the song sung by myself to guide them about how I wish it to be I have 2 songs done by them Sweet Holy Water and Isabelle, in my opinion they are very nice and different from the rest They also gave me the copyright for every song I have made Till now I have been spending money and also paying for making their videos I will keep writing but its hard for me to keep paying to hear them The songs are on my channel for who ever is interested Please I need some advice maybe there will be somebody interested to buy them and re arrange them as they please At the moment I am writing a good one ,totally different and sing along type, maybe somebody will want to hear it and buy it 😊 Many thanks and Regards, Vicky

Barb, BEST investment of my time was listening to your video - You were to the point with great information all wrapped in a casual and honest advise tone I really enjoyed it I consider myself a singer/songwriter HOWEVER being a realist at age 63 and 30 lbs overweight I don't see the record labels fighting over me :) lol br brINSTEAD I think the best venue for me to follow is to 1) SELL my songs to established recording artists, and 2) writing commercial JINGLES for corporate america any specific advise you can offer?? I think this is bull, not that I have any songs published but its all about producers telling people what they want them to listen brto I have written songs and sent them all over the country, its not about boom boom, its that big brother telling you what they like Hank Williams Sr, Waylon Jennings and others bucked the system and wrote songs that went some place the problem is to many fingers in the artist pie I have heard a lot about how artist ate out of garbage cans before they made it big with the music industry, some of it is true but I have seen talent that should have been thrown a hole somewhere and others that were down right great but didnt make it all these so called music gurus that know more than jon q public just dont get it its pure greed, how many "B" side songs made it and the "A" side didnt Everybody is a scholar when it comes to music they wrote, that they sold its just my opinion

The industry is ridiculous if you can’t blow up on your own it’s worthless People that have a name and are looked up to in the industry will scam you over 2-300 dollars None of these labels that send offers show achievements or anything to give you an idea of what you paying for They try to force you to pay for a label service in order for them to do business with you
