Terrrrrible advice She should put the money from the sale of a house into a Roth IRA Invest it in a money market account so it stays safe and liquid Because this show aired in January, she’d be able to make a Roth contribution for the current year and the prior year If the poo hits the fan she can take it out, but if things stay stable she can move the money into a more aggressive account within the tax shelter She should also be contributing to her 401(k) up to the point of the match, at least That is free money she’s leaving on the table

I, too, wondered how I got to this video I was looking up information on money market accounts as, I seemed to remember Dave mentioning to put money there, perhaps, unless you have more than I do and have a possibly surer and longer future I think with money market accounts, you earn a higher interest rate than you do with CDs and most certainly more than a mere savings account and you still have liquidity There’s usually a minimum amount to keep in therebrbrAs far as rates are concerned, although a lot of the monies come from rounding up whatever you spend, I also have an Acorns account The rate fluctuates, but it got as high as over 11 the past few days and, although there might be a bit of a delay, since this is online, I have liquidity Again, although it’s mostly due to my spending, it is like a savings account, with a better rate, I opened it Summer of 2018 and it has 10X what my initial deposit was and I just consider it to be a side account, if anything goes awry at my bank
