So i actually was on a development team for a game where the level designers of elden ring play tested and gave us feedback My jaw dropped when tbeir first sentence back through their translator "its too difficult to be fun" the DARK SOULS company saying our game was TOO HARD??? As the lwad designer i was confused as hell It was only until i learned how completely cheasable dark souls was did i understand Learning about the game ans googling strategies ruined dark souls for me Mt first runs of dark souls were incredibly important to me developing as a person It made me care so much and i refuses to look up Anything One day, i ended up picking up the game guides and decided to replay the games and discover the extra endings / quesrs i missed and the game was a fucking joke I had no clue how easy the game was when you knew where to get items / levels easy I am now currently in development of another game and im doing everything i can to make the game un-cheasable

I love Elden ring remnant games and even demon souls remake, but this game I just can't get into It feels really clunky and that camera is unbearable I really want to play this game It's just so annoying❤

Artorias was left handed, the idea is that at some point fighting the Abyss or after he succumbed it was broken and that's why he wields his sword in his other hand This was most likely after he gave his shield to keep Sif safe in Oolacile, which would have been in his right hand

I may be in the minority But I prefer playing the original PS3 release of Dark Souls Sure certain areas have slower frame rates And the 3rd person camera can be your enemy at times But updates & patches have cleaned most of the original issues up I honestly like the more methodical style of combat Which punishes button mashing Each time I play it I'm reminded of how far ahead of its time it was I very much enjoyed your philosophical essay of the lore Great job!👍👊

I would be really interested if you did a video on the entire trilogy, especially the third game I almost got the impression from the third game that the fire running out of fuel to burn is like human civilization running out of fossil fuel to burn Yuria seems to tell us as well as Kaathe that the natural state of man is being a hollow in the dark Many people think if we were to run out of an energy source to power our civilization that society would descend into total chaos and we would be thrust into our original hunter gatherer more animal stateSo the darkness could mean ignorance and being hollow could be a symbol for our animal nature and ignorance before we began agriculture based society and started working out how our world works

So is it safe to say the age of fire and fire itself is a metaphor for order, meaning, authority and possibly human civilization containing our animal nature and the dangers of nature itself? And the age of Dark and the Dark Soul itself is a metaphor for nihilism, skepticism, chaos, anarchism and mans true place in the universe as just an ordinary animal subject to all the same laws of nature? There's also some things in ds2 like the dragon that says "for the curse of life is the curse of want" which really makes things even more confusing I see so many contradictory interpretations of this games lore, I am inclined to believe it's purposely meaningless and meant to be more abstract and up to the player to decide for oneself what it all means

what a phenomenal essay! lately i've been finding analyses that try to recreate or formulate a traditionally coherent narrative within the game to be a bit unhelpful i think we have a need to place stories within known frames of reference, and dark souls challenges all frames i have accumulated throughout my life i think analysing it on its philosophical terms might be more productive to understand the work of art that it is for now, at least, who knows how i'll be feeling about it on my 50th playthrough!

Fromsoftware games have some crazy lore pieces hidden in places most might overlook, particularly in the texture work and in-world architecture In some armor pieces that first appeared in ds2 you see faram, a god of war fighting a dragon, which many have thought could be an alias or even the name of the nameless king Just as well, in many of the games you can learn much more about the lore by examining the texture work of architecture and enemies The best example of this is the YouTuber Zulie The Witch who examines these textures
