These world ranking only really appeared on the scene about 10 years ago They are superficial, limited, subjective and comparing many insitutions which are non-comparable Do not take the THE or QS seriously

Actually the QS ranking of the World's Best Universities is the more respected ranking in the US, not the Times Higher Education poll US News & World Report publishes the QS Report as its approved ranking of the world's best universities The Times has published ridiculous results in the past & continues to do so In it's newest, updated poll, it ranks UCLA 9th for its academic reputation, which is ridiculous UCLA is NOT a more reputable university than Yale, Cal Tech, MIchigan, Chicago, etc
