As a student I think what they were trying to say through the statement "a great teacher isn't a teacher" is that great teachers don't act simply as authority figures but rather focus on teaching instead Since we've been taught that teachers are to be feared and have huge power over our us, we see 'teachers' differently from 'great teachers' who actually help us learn our subjects instead of intimidating us
