I bought a couple of clothes drying racks from Ikea and stopped using the dryer altogether The clothes are sun dried in the backyard, never smell and saves drying cost Also, I cut down on the heated dry functionality in the dishwasher

Living in Florida during the summer months the electric bill runs HIGH My Moms house is big but its also old $400+ a month House needs new windows, new screens, new doors, and unfortunately no money, nor do I have money to help Just got the roof replaced I dont know if this house needs new insulation or not Wish I could replace all the windows though I think that right there would be a real cost saver

If I have a tank of hot water that is going to go cold , I fill my washing machine up with it and do a wash How ? I hear you ask brA length of garden hose , attached to a plastic funnel , remove the soap tray , poke the hose into the soap tray hole and fill the washing machine up from the hot tap I use an oven thermometer to gauge the water temperature in the funnel brnearly ALL of the electricity used in a washing machine is heating the water up I also have my dish washer connected to the hot water supply gas is cheaper than electricity and if you have a full tank of hot water why let it go cold ?

I put all my modems on power strips and I shut them off when not in use There very inefficient and some draw 600 watts Saving about $20-30 @ month on my energy bill Also keeps neighbors from hacking into your network Like the guy who runs extention cords to his neighbors outletslol There are people like that out there

I went in the attic and sealed all the eletrical boxes with fire rated single part foam, i used my vanometer on my fresh air intake and found it was drawing 30CFM less, thats a lot of air i was losing to the attic

I do not use my baseboard heaters to heat my apartment They are energy vampires! In fact, I turn them off at the breaker box because they will suck energy even when turned off! Use energy efficient space heaters when absolutely necessary!

Add more insulation in your attic If building a home, be sure exterior walls are adequately insulated during building phase Analyze home position related to sun to determine hotspots May cost more on front end, but saves in the long run

Place bubble wrap(smaller bubbles better, not as noticeable) spray window w water, bubble side against cold window & it completely stops wster on Windows and definitely no cold radiating at window If metal frames, cover metal too

Why would you need to keep your temperature at 72 in the summer? It's not necessary to keep it that low, you're body can easily adjust to 78 degrees I prefer 80
