I love your advice except fully funding your 401k right away Once you put it in, you will have to pay taxes to take it out plus a 10 penalty if you are younger than 59 1/2 You should fund your cash savings first (emergency fund) Retirement and investment saving simultaneously

I'm all about saving but something is not adding up here with her numbers Buy gas? So with a car maintenance, insurance, gas, mortgage, etc and still saved $100k on that salary? I'm not buying that At 12:00 you say that "bonuses are taxed at 50" Where on earth did you come up with that? The withholding on bonuses is 22 (Just Google 'IRS bonus tax rate') and you pay tax on a bonus at whatever tax rate you're in Not saying you didn't save a lot and I'm all glad that you did but I want people to be both honest and realistic

Hi, Don't get me wrong, I think you did a great job and highlight a lot of good points, but I want to point out that your Salary for the main Job was 54k, but your total compensation is hovering around 90k 54+3k bonus + 3k match + 30k side job That's a pretty huge swing (almost 100) you weren't only making 54k, you were effectively making 90k Kudos to you tho! Half the battle of saving is attitude, behavior, and focus and you have all of that
