@imRyRy Yeah, I know a lot of people who will give me the paper equivalent of the metal value, any day of the week Businesses can only give you the face value (try buying $7 worth of gasoline at Chevron with a quarter from 1960!) so you have to convert them to paper currency before you can spend them If you don't know anybody that will do it, find people using eBay, Craigslist, and other sites Or find a local bullion dealer, flea market, swap meet, and so on Good luck and have fun

@imRyRy I see the nickel metal (not the nickel coins) as money, so I won't be cashing them in for paper currency, ever Just like silver coins from a few decades ago were once just currency made out of metal now they're worth 25 times their face value, and rising I don't cash my silver in, either It's money Paper isn't I store my value in metal I buy paper rectangles with my metal, when I need them to make a purchase etc

@GermanInvestor You are wrong Bro In the USA back in the 1800's gold rush, People could go to town and use their gold to buy things with The same goes for silver In Zimbabwe the same goes on today People would prefer to have gold or silver coins to use since they are easy to determine amount of said metal not because it is "legal" tender

This is amazing Drutter, the 1970 canadian nickel is in fact a key date and those ones in the inner tubes could be in good condition Its a key date because of the Rotation die and anything from a UNC condition coin that has that die could be worth a hundred or so

I haven't heard that before (and have definitely heard the opposite many times) Thanks Also, remember that cupro-nickel (nickel and copper together) has thousands of important industrial uses, regardless of the copper and nickel being able to be separated or not By the way, I'm hunting for the 999 nickel primarily but I don't throw back the cupro-nickel ones either

@drutter weigh your nickels from 2000-2006 and if they weight 46g they are 75CU/25NI and majority of them will be from 2000, 2001 and 2004 as some of them and most of them from 2000 have real metal
