Yep, magic bands and credit cards disconnect you mentally from your money and how much you’re spending I always use my debit card so that I know when I spend money that it’s immediately gone from my account (technically in a day or two but I digress)

I live two hours from WDW and had an annual pass but I didn't renew I just don't go enough to make it worth it because of my job but it's amazing if you're able to go regularly Just the savings on parking makes it worth it

Maybe I'm salty because I've never been to Disney world but it looks like one huge money grab and I'm too cheap for all thatbrPlus I live 1 hour away from Holiday World in Santa Claus Indiana and they only charge $35 and give you free soft drinks Also I've never spent more than 30 minutes in line for the most popular rides

10:30: I have a first hand account of this It's a wild story but I'll keep it brief Our first day in the parks (Magic Kingdom), first ride we were in line for, a toddler threw up on me (all over: pretty sure he pounded down nothing but scrambled eggs and orange juice for breakfast) The parents bailed and ran off, and other people just stared and whispered We walked off not knowing what to do when we found a cast member who insisted he write us vouchers for free clothes (including my husband who wasn't even in the splash zone) They also gave us a free locker to keep our soiled clothes in I was (and honestly, still am) overwhelmed at their above-and-beyond customer service However, the cynics my husband and I are knew deep down it was to prevent us from leaving the park But it worked! I've never experienced customer service like that before or since

12:30 The dining plans at Six Flags are the same The basic is one meal during designated lunch (1130-230) or dinner (430-630) hours, and one snack designated for for all hours EXCEPT the final hour of park operation for some reason (so 8 when the park closes at 9, 9 when at 10mand actually I THINK 8 when at 8 and 7 when at 7)brbrANYWAY the deluxe plan allows a lunch AND a dinner, with the ability to substitute ONE meal as a second snack (saves them money, gives me more options) brbrI believe that substitution expands to the basic plan toobrbrHOWEVER the deluxe plan does NOT let you get two dinners or two lunches!!! The way around this is to get one meal around 2 or 215 and get another right at 430

My last trip to Disney was in 2016 I had a Magic Band but didn't have my card linked to it that or I didn't know a card was linked to it But either way I didn't use it to buy anything at the time so that helped I'd do the same if that's an option on my next trip brbrAlso, something you didn't go over that I sort of feel is worth noting though it's not about how Disney tricks you into spending money, is that the ShopDisney app lets you buy a lot of the merch available at the parks So, while budgeting, you could also take into consideration "Can I order this from the app at a later point?" for some things and just order it later

To be fair I am partial because I live 45 minutes away from Disney world But my tip to everybody who comes is that there is a store called the Disney character outlet So if you have children or just want some Disney merch to make your Disney trip extra special I’ve literally gotten ears there for like three dollars There such big discounts that even with the cost of the Uber from the wherever you’re staying on site might save you money And if you don’t believe me you can always look on Instagram their entire Instagram pages where people point out what kind of deals they’re having at the stores there’s two of them

The dining plan is never value for money Yes, if you use all your credits (which is aready a challenge) and if you do always choose the most expensive items on the menu (which is unlikely), you still don't get value for money Yes, the dining plan is cheaper (or rather 'less expensive') than paying out of pocket, but 'value' is not the same as 'price' The fact is that Disney's prices are simply too high for what you get A donut costs maybe 50 cents to make, but they will sell it for 5 dollars The dining plan won't solve that

My favorite "Marketing Strategies" is hiding the free water fountains which spits out warm metallic water when you find them ,and charging you $600 a piece for water at any Disney retail outlet I know it made my trip when someone took me to Orlando to take my mind of off the Chemo that was dehydrating me BTW FOLKS: The phrase "marketing technique translates into actual English from Dizneeze as Way To RIP YOU Off

Disney gave us a Perk I was one of the first 10 kids in the park back in October of 71, any anniversary of WDW we visit the park we get our picture taken because we signed a agreement to let Disney use it in advertising, we get in Free, and our immediate family gets in at a discount I still have my coin and pin and the sections of the park pins in 77 and 78 I worked there in the summers, Cast member at Tomorrowland Terrace anyone remember the Iceman 78 I was a co driver on the Gold monorail my dreams as a kid came true when I was a teen, and its nice to be a original opening day because you see all the changes of the park every time you go

When my kids were little, I gave them a budget for souvenirs Let’s say $100 I would put 100 beads on a necklace If they wanted something, I showed them how many beads it would take If they went ahead and bought that item, the beads would be taken off the necklace It helped them think carefully before buying something and there was no arguments if they ran out of money because they could see it going Had they lost the necklace, no real money was lost

The first this you should do when you want to go is get a reputable travel agent They will tell you how to get the most bang for your buck Get the meal plan You can eat where you want without worrying about counting pennies If you are a fan of pictures, get the magic maker You get all the pictures of you and your family for one price and they can be shared with all the people in your party
