With SS supposedly in trouble, I never understood why they did not remove the cap on annual earnings Seemsbrthey could collect the tax no matter how much an individual makes That would go a long way in securing the long term profitability of SS Comment from : Chipper |

I started receiving SS after I turned 68 ( 3 years beyond full retirement age) I read that I have no limits on how much I can earn but but if it exceeds $25000 I have to pay taxes on my SS So I do have a maximum I can earn before getting penalized That's before I have to take RMD (required minimum distribution) from my IRA What gives! Comment from : Thomas Sherlowsky |
The government has no sense at all no one can live on 771 a monththey should boost everyone to 2,000 a month that's on disabilitybecause I don't see rent going down I don't see lights going down water or foodeverything is going up every year and our checks stay the same maybe we should protest Comment from : Hazel |

TY Comment from : Susie Q |
Why the earning cap? Why is it that AFTER you make $134,000 (? )you don't have to pay ss tax on anything above that? Seems like it SHOULD be the other way around!! I've never made that much -so imagine my surprise when I was trying to figure out why big corporations pay no or very little taxes and came across it Seems like social security would have no problem if EVERYBODY Paid ss tax on ALL of their earnings like 98 of us do Only seems fair considering it takes a basic amount to live Comment from : Lilly |
You say setting limits on social security people keep them out of being in poverty what's the excuse for SSI people if people on SSI even try to work they take half of their income for working I'm on SSI and I tried to find a part-time job but just from having a part-time job they was going to take my SSI don't people on SSI have a right to try to stay out of poverty to which the government keeps us in with their rules Comment from : James Veach |
Social Security is paid for by the taxpayer The politicians are allowed to double dip You serve one term in Congress and Senate you get a lifetime pension in a lifetime free healthcare If the politicians in the steal all the money and didn't and they paid it back Everybody will have a decent wage to live off of when they retire The government controls too much If you get a pension from an employer that's great and you should be able to collect your Social Security cuz you paid into it And if you still want to work shouldn't be let you should be allowed to make as much as you want without being penalized Comment from : Henry Mayberry |
