Fundraising platform: GoFundMe brbr please look into a program called go-fund-me for your charitybrMillions of people turn to GoFundMe in times of need to support themselves, friends, and strangers When donors choose to give GoFundMe a voluntary tip as they make a donation, they allow us to maintain and improve our free platform so that we can help even more people We are incredibly grateful for the donors who help keep GoFundMe the safest, most trusted, and most successful option for personal fundraising

I would generally caution foreigners to avoid the temptation, and advise them against handing out pesos to begging street kids and others Although this is done with the best of intentions (I admit I've done it myself), it actually does more harm than good overall It conditions ALL children to target foreigners and immediately run to them for money (not just homeless street kids) It encourages begging and discourages work Of course, the best spots for panhandling are tourist areas or those frequented by foreigners This often serves as the typical set-up for the newbie tourists to get pick-pocketed, and of course, this can have an adverse affect on tourism Also, everyone needs to understand that many of these street kids are not really street kids at all, but are working under the direction of an adult swindler/meth head/child abuser It also conditions children to trust foreigners and makes it easier for foreign pedophiles to victimize them Lastly, it's actually illegal under Philippine Law This is an old problem in the Philippines and PRESIDENTIAL DECREE No 1563 forbids it For all the above reasons, plus many, many more, it is NOT a good idea to hand out pesos to begging kids or adults for that matter Do what the local Filipinos do You'll rarely see them giving out money on the street Do your research and find a legitimate local charity to give your money to

Anytime you donate something to any charity you have no idea where it ends up at The good thing about that though whomever lends a hand to help the less unfortunate has done a good deed from the heart What comes from the heart is a blessing in itself We that do good to help others expect nothing in return Imagine what the world would be like if the ones with such large sums of wealth practiced that alsobrbrBeing kind to others and giving its a blessing to those in need Keep up the good work for those of you that are doing itbrbrTake care,

I have Filipino friends there that run a Charitable FoundationOne thing they don't do is give money directly to anyoneThey've paid for education, medical bills, school supplies and a whole lot moreIn the case of any fees or bills that gets paid direct to the school or hospitalIf it's school supplies they buy them and go the various schoolsPart of the deal is that they can drop in and see that the stuff they donate is actually still there and being used at any time It's not a lack of trust,it's common sense and the schools don't mind as they have ongoing relationships, some of the Teachers have even had their degrees funded by these peopleI was told by the same people not to give to street beggers as many of them do quite nicely and have turned down every chance the local council have given to be trained etcStreet kids are different but they'll get food rather than moneybrI've recently seen someone make a very big deal out of giving something to a poor family on youtube, showing themselves actually handing over a 500 peso note to the lady of the house after displaying it like some kind of trophy That's just wrong, and totally disrespectful,I obviously don't have a problem with the giving but the motivation is kind of suspect

One gets more happiness through giving rather than receiving And you guys, rock The joy writ on the kids' faces, I am sure, made up for the trials and tribulations that you and Michell faced Ditto for the smiles on the homeless as they received their food packets and the everlasting gratitude for the families living in the House that the World Built Thank you, MPD angels, N and M
Comment from : Joy SGC

Other than cash, what's the best thing for me to bring to the Philippines to hand out to homeless people I see on the street in Manila?
Comment from : victoryoneable

Erik Michael
Ned, I think you and Michell are doing your best to assist within your financial means, and that is amazing You have no obligation to assist, but you did and it's very well commendable I believe whatever contribution from the viewers will really help the poor and the have nots Count me in I specially like the idea of giving to the kids, they are adorable

I love the idea to make the donations in odd amounts to keep them unique Thanks for sharing that I keep a record of all the donations, gifts, contributions that i give to organizations, colleagues, friends, and destitute children and strangers I have been thinking about creating a video, and sharing it kind of like you did here, a way my experiences might help, or inspire others - And to show what pitfalls might be avoided I am a stickler for receipts and have them digitally filed When i look at the transfer records, Xoom history…etc, the ‘charges’ alone are a surprising amount - Definitely a loss i end up eating But like you i have spent money on far more worse/frivolous things Sometimes i look at the receipts (mostly medical for children) and am always humbled thinking it cost me (relatively) so little and helped so much Frustrating that good, kind, smart and talented hard working people have so little to care for even the most basic wound care, let alone dengue, or serious medical issues But i’m kind of embarrassed, i think it is likely people will think i’m getting played when they see how much pera I’ve kicked out over the years for one of a million Pilipino sob stories Once you open that door as a resource you (can) become to close, too involved A vulnerable place to be (Lessons learned) There are a billion variables, i’ve had to just suck up saying “no” One can only do so much It’s a never ending uphill battle for so many there brbrDon’t mean to ramble here, Pwede ba magtonang po? I am a former builder by trade, a master carpenter, i’m curious about your house building project Did your $2,500 cover property cost? Or was the build site ‘squatter domain’? Just curious about how all that works Kind of wondering if the ‘demo’ of the Neighbors houses was related to the structures location (already a squatter domain) Even in America the powers that be can ‘seize’ your land (for ‘fair’ market value of course) if it stands in the way of industrial/urban developmental needs - More power to you man, proud of you boss - Keep up the good work You are “Reinventing American” through your actions, a way of being that i value Best regards!

Terrific work , Ned I used to follow some of the other expats until it became obvious that a some of them were using the YouTube camera angle solely to attract Filipinas young enough to be their granddaughters No names necessary We both know who they are as do they I've since ditched these disgusting twerps but I do regularly follow you and Michell due to your good work and obvious good intentions I know that doing all these videos is a lot of work I want you both to know that your efforts are worthwhile and very much appreciated and in the end are likely to do a lot more good for the people of the Philippines than you might imagine Simply because people like me are watching And some of us have more than we need and are more apt to help those in need who are truly appreciative

Ned,br I think Pay Pal will not charge you the $030 + 29 if you set up a non- profit over there and a non-profit website/PP link Something to think about? And if you set-up a non-profit, it is easier on your uncle SAMS taxes ever year Something to think about?
