What gun Did u use? Comment from : vypzo |
When shooting the 22lr do you use the fixed barrel spacer or just keep the spring in? Love this video! Comment from : chad22880 |
That poor mint tahoe :( Comment from : Randy Estremera |
Modular sounds great, but why would you make the gun go louder with shorter suppressor for self defense? I can’t think of a scenario where I would make it shorter Comment from : 2 Many Remote Controllers |
Just bought one for my Mk23 It was the best alternative to a KAC which aren’t available at this time and is much better than the octane or osprey Comment from : Otto |
Debating on this and the griffin armament Optimus modular Lol Comment from : Fez 1812 |
On the 22 did you use the Rugged Fixed Mount adapter or keep on the piston? Maybe a dumb question but I can’t tell Thanks Comment from : Jon English |
Doesn’t look good to have to need hearing protection still Comment from : A reaper II |

just got my tax stamp for mine took 3 months! Comment from : CascadeReigns |
Every American that watches these videos should do what they can to get the federal law(s) changed Suppressors should not be an NFA item and should be readily available at all gun stores without a special tax or a wait period Reducing decibels and saving the hearing of shooters should be the top priority, not worrying about bad guys using them to commit crimes Mufflers are on every internal combustion engine in the US and suppressors should be just as ubiquitous Comment from : Thomas T |
I just received my stamp and picked up my Obsidian 45 last weekend It works perfectly I used it on my Scorpion EVO3 pistol with Rugged’s fixed barrel spacer and the 9mm end cap My neighbor thought I was shooting a pellet gun That right there tells you how well it works The suppression with subsonic ammunition is just simply amazing brbrNow, for Rugged’s customer service They are also amazing I had seen that on other reviews, which is part of the reason why I went with the Obsidian 45 My first time using it, a bullet barely struck the 9mm end cap It did not damage the baffles or the tube I believe it was my fault, as the cap that tightens the piston into the suppressor was not completely tightened down I discovered that it stuck a little on the piston, so although I thought it was tightened, it had a little to go That slight play resulted in the bullet striking the end cap After contacting Rugged, they sent me a new end cap, spring, and piston cap (the one that was sticking on the piston) free of charge within two days Bottom line, their customer service is amazing and they stand behind their products 5 stars all of the way around For the product and the quality Comment from : Dustin Duncan |
Im sold on it, I've been looking to get a 45 suppressor for a couple months now and was looking into the scilencerco octane, the AAC tirant 45m, the dead air ghost 45m and the rugged obsidian 45 and I think I've made up my mind Comment from : Countryboyredneck97 |
Impatiently waiting for mine to get released from NFA prison Comment from : AKBuilder762 |
Question: do they make or is there any 22 end cap for this suppressor? Comment from : Matthew |
Can you shoot 40 Cal ? Comment from : Tim Smith |
Compare the ghost m to the obsidian 45! Comment from : Harlan |
When you said the Obsidian 45 meters quieter than most 9mm cans, what cans are you referring to, exactly and what are the DB ratings for the Rugged in each length configuration, what ammo are you using, what host gun, etc, VS what 9mm Host Gun, What 9mm ammo and what 9mm Can? I'd be very interested in seeing those numbers, factually Comment from : VRGalaxy |
If it’s so quiet why are you wearing ears? Comment from : R3KZYS |
Shot mine the first time yesterday, I love it! Can't wait to get the stamp so i can shoot it outdoors My dealer has an indoor range that i can shoot it at during the wait Comment from : forrest225 |

I tune in all the time to watch your videos I'm old school Form4 NFA owner since the late 80s with several machine guns and over a dozen suppressors I've collected over the years from outdated technology to newest on the market I was present during the first manufacture suppressor comparison tests at Knob Creek Gun Range KY in 1996 I'm currently in the market for newer design 45acp caliber suppressor, studying several manufactures products, range testing by ear with other friends 45 suppressors I currently do not own a Rugged or AAC product so I really don't have a dog in this fight yet I'm purely stating opinion based on observation and experiencebrbrSilencer Shop sound testing documented AAC 45M Ti-Rant (full length) 12DB lower sound signature compared to Rugged Obsidian 45 (full length) and AAC 45M Ti-Rant (short version) was 10DB loader compared to Rugged Obsidian 45 (short version) Easy to see why AAC and Rugged have strong points in different configurations based on design and materialsbrbrTi-Rant 45M first main tube Titanium compared to Obsidian 45 first main tube AluminumbrAluminum allows for greater sound absorption tube flex compared to Titanium Titanium built suppressors have always produced loader port signaturesbrbrTi-Rant uses the K-Baffle design without side walls to fully enclose baffle stack allowing for larger gas volume expansion per baffle, but also allows direct heat contact to first main Titanium and Aluminum last section tube's interior, thus limiting sound signature report by 12DB in full length comparisonbrbrObsidian 45 uses conical baffle design with side walls connecting each baffle together preventing direct heat contact with outer Aluminum tube's interior surface By stacking fully enclosed stainless steel conical baffles creates inter tube barrier within the baffle stack Stainless steel allows for small amount of sound absorption flex all within outer Aluminum tube sound absorption flex produces 1DB less signature port in comparisonbrbrObsidian is the first suppressor to equal Ti-Rant performance, but the biggest advantage Obsidian 45 has over the Ti-Rant is using the same SilencerCo Osprey smart manufacture practice of engraving required ATF information onto barrel attachment and not on the main outer suppressor tube allowing easy rebuilds if operator malfunction or poor quality reloads damage main suppressor tube and bafflesbrbrNonetheless considering all pros and cons I'm leaning towards Rugged Obsidian 45 for my next purchase, but the AAC Ti-Rant is never a bad choice Comment from : Steel Shrapnel |
this guy is a joke who wears hearing protection when they use a silencer and says "it sounds great"? Comment from : BloodOnMars |
Million dollar idea: Make aftermarket baffles for different calibers like 9mm or 556 so you can use the same suppressor by just switching the baffles I feel like a company is already doing this, but im not sure Comment from : Bryce Kimball |
Would 45-70 gov work on this can? Comment from : Chia-Chun Hsu |
Love the video! Hoping to use with my M&P 15-22lr rifle and 9mm shield pistol Anything I need to have specifically for the 22 rifle other than the 1/2x28 thread piston? Did you change the piston out in the video for a fixed adapter when shooting the 22 or nah? Comment from : Jon Heydrick |
Why are you wearing ear protection? Comment from : Chad Thunderjock |
If its a silencer y can you still hear it Comment from : Ed Rodriguez |

Great video! brbrI understand that the long configuration is the quietest 45 can on the market, but being that most would use it in short how does it compare to others in the market place in the short configuration? brbrIn the short configuration what competes with it in the marketplace? Comment from : Andrew Manus |

I love my octane 45 hd but seeing all of these later designs allow for a k configuration makes me wish that I had waited I hope silencerco gets wise and offers an upgrade program to the octane series to allow for a K configuration If they do I will stay loyal to them for a long time with so many awesome designs out there it's hard to stay with one company keep up the good work, I really like the suppressor reviews your doing Comment from : mtsEnrique |
So glad SWR is back Comment from : spraynpray |
Suppressor, sirNot silencer Please Comment from : krazyrican2009 |
I didn't notice the gas blowback until you used the K-configuration on the USP If I were to ever purchase a suppressor (going through the laborious process, of course), I would buy a Rugged Suppressor Your videos have sold me on them Comment from : SonOfSimon |
I may have missed it while perusing the Rugged site, but does this come with a 9mm end cap or is that an additional purchase? I favor the price of this over the other modular can which I believe was in the $1300 range Comment from : Carbon Materials Engineering |
I know it's in the description, but what should be pointed out is, the reason it's so quiet is because it's 6'' longer than most other 45 cans That's almost an extra full size baffle However, being able to go down almost 2'' and still be hearing safe, is great Even with the extra length, it should still be considered a must buy, especially with the warranty Comment from : binyamj |
Not owning any suppressors yet (Just finished my trust) I love the versatility of these modular suppressors, but I worry about accuracy on my precision guns Did you notice any significant shift in POI or group size? Comment from : Gun Sense (drmaudio) |
Why the fuck would you want to own a gun?! Comment from : Kommentator |

Can you use 40 S&W on it Comment from : El Piques |
nice suppressor, looks very similar to the octane 45brbrthe bore diameter of a suppressor matters far less than the internal volume, as you proved here the internal volume of most centerfire suppressors is absolute overkill for rimfire, lol Comment from : TMS5100 |
do you ever want to meet demolition ranch Comment from : B Henni |
