just a few minutes in and i disagree , there is huge profit in tilling small gardens you need the right machines , you need a minimum charge and you need to charge by the square foot , you also need to schedule multiple jobs nearby to offset fuel and travel costs
Comment from : Charles Boston

Hunters projects
I’m 14 and I use my grandpas Massey 1429 with a loader tiller box blade and some other implements I’d like to do tilling hopefully I can work it out
Comment from : Hunters projects

Kirk Horsley
Just re-watched video brWhy did you choose to use 8 42 lbs and not 5 70 lbs?
Comment from : Kirk Horsley

David Kaminski
Absolutely retardation
Comment from : David Kaminski

Scott Stewart
that small of an area could have been broadforked to check for underground roots, and the fork probably would have ripped out all those weeds But til job looks great, wish i had one of those tractors lol
Comment from : Scott Stewart

Ram Chillarege
Nice video, Tim I have been mulling over the idea of getting a tiller I do not garden, but have a yard to clean up King Kutter or the one you got? Maschio? Advice please I have a JD 1025R
Comment from : Ram Chillarege

Drew6709
my tilling jobs are quite often for clients on fixed incomes And I don't charge near enough, but I am looking out for the client instead I HAVE done jobs for $30, and that is due to the job being close to home and for fixed income client And the size is 25 widths of my tiller So that is like 20x20 with fence and garden shed in the way So in that respect, I can only run in one direction But my client is so elated when I am done As is most of my clientel brIn some of my pricier jobs I have been doing payments or at least offering payments if needed And my clients have appreciated that offer And some taking the offer to ease the stress of paying the full amount at one time My clients are mostly friends or have heard of me through friends I have made some new clients and lost a few But that is business
Comment from : Drew6709

Daniel Mark LeBlanc
The tiller looks a lot like a flail mower Same brand and lots of similarities Great video Tim
Comment from : Daniel Mark LeBlanc

Drew6709
Tim, I do those with my 42 hp Kubota and 6' tiller It is extremely difficult in those size gardens with my compact tractor I take off the loader to get more room to move around And I noticed you didn't do cross patch Unless there wasn't room to do that Well done and on to the next one
Comment from : Drew6709

Andrew Braun
I always worry about the folks torching the ground with open shoes on 😬
Comment from : Andrew Braun

Brian G C
You need to charge $200 minimum for the travel and 45 minutes on site They cannot rent a walk behind tiller for less plus the actual labor of walking behind the tiller makes $200 a bargain
Comment from : Brian G C

Michael Angelo
Financial suicide Maybe it’s fun but a financial loser
Comment from : Michael Angelo

Don Swaringen
Tim: enjoy your videos I have not seen all, so I ask, Have you tried the Rotadairon? I have only seen one video of it - Title: One Machine One Person One Pass - From seeing that video, it's seems to be the best I would like to see you test it thanks
Comment from : Don Swaringen

Timothy Jerry
Drive all that way, slip the clutch on a stump and beat the tiller up for $100?
Comment from : Timothy Jerry

David Ward
My daughter and my neighbor I don't charge anything to till there gardens they live really close to me
Comment from : David Ward

David Ward
Yes I enjoy tilling I till my daughter's garden and my neighbors too
Comment from : David Ward

Eric Proffitt
Hi I am Phil I have no idea what I am talking about This guy wanted to make a video on how to use too much to do a lil job and pay for it 8D
Comment from : Eric Proffitt

Daniel Madden
80s I took 15 20 minutes to till my garden 50 × 30 12 inch deephorse stable nearby I add a 2 yards of manure and tilled in
Comment from : Daniel Madden

Christopher Ross
$125 in 3hr, ouch !! Good thing you're doing it for fun, like you said That tiller attachment had to cost a pretty penny lol
Comment from : Christopher Ross

Warren Mundell
Tim, I have been down that road, tilling, mowing, leveling, etc I found with the tilling, going over it several times makes it nice, but, it is so fine that over the summer with rains it packs tight like a road Well, they have to get you back every spring
Comment from : Warren Mundell

Jesse Amaya
Finally got my 1025R home about 2 weeks ago Got a backhoe and shredder along with an Armstrong grapple with it Have to say it is surprising what I can do with it The grapple is abslute murder on prickly pear cactus and have REALLY cleaned up the fence lines along the house And boy using the backhoe to dig out cat claw and huishach beats the tar out of a grubbing hoe
Comment from : Jesse Amaya

7eis
A cordless sawsall is excellent to deal with roots I bring one when I stump grinde Roots running under pavers or close to a fence can be a headache without it
Comment from : 7eis

Wilson Garland
Ground was too wet to till, see clods!
Comment from : Wilson Garland

king james488
lol that 20 point turn
Comment from : king james488

Fields
That little cultivator reminds me of rototilling between nursery rows with a 10' on 12' rows; just a foot on each side of clearance! Also, I see that AHW decal
Comment from : Fields

Dan Herrmann
Just remember using a tiller tines Kills all the earth worms in your garden
Comment from : Dan Herrmann

Iota Committed
Well, when you do a small job like this All you got to do is film the process and make your money every month with adsense from Google Another way to look at it on how to get paid
Comment from : Iota Committed

Shane Wright
You just broke my heart! I want to do this exact job until I die at 120 Oh well, I never cared much for money anyways
Comment from : Shane Wright

mark escartin
It says: Tractor time with Tim but maybe if let it could also be John Deere subcompact construction equipment and attachments?
Comment from : mark escartin

mark escartin
Little Johnny needs to take a rest; Would like to see "John Deere" products such as a skid-steer in action!
Comment from : mark escartin

Scott Simmons
Why not go no-till it way more effective than tearing up your topsoil especially for a backyard garden that small
Comment from : Scott Simmons

Brad S
You can save yourself a pile of time not turning around every pass, plus you don’t wreck the yard as much
Comment from : Brad S

Brian Kleinschmidt
It's a good thing you kept the roll bar on, wildman I took mine off before I ever started the engine
Comment from : Brian Kleinschmidt

5153flash
I have sub compact and decided to rent it out for tilling I always thought I had a big enough trailer to haul it with the tiller attached but found out,, it barely fit on my trailer lol,But it did fit I tilled 1 customers garden last yearbr Normally,,I use my tiller for my own garden ,,once a year and figured I need to do more with it $1500 tiller used 1 hour once a year dont make sensebr Next year I will advertise my services
Comment from : 5153flash

Azurra
This is what you get what you've got more money than brainsbrbrAlsobrF U John Deer!brSupport the right to repair
Comment from : Azurra

Back 2 nature
This is so unsustainable! He should use analogic tools, mate! He’ll save the gym money That literally needs 3-4 hours of manual work to make it shine!
Comment from : Back 2 nature

Jeremy Massey
Great job pity about that horrible green thing pulling the rotavator, wont allow them on any of my landscaping jobs
Comment from : Jeremy Massey

Gern Blanston
I see you fighting the trees at each end of the garden how about backing up to the fence and going out the open side?
Comment from : Gern Blanston

Thomas H Chapin IV
I don’t know why you can’t charge more for that service? The homeowner himself stated that you saved him 100 hours worth of work Why is that only worth $100? Once that garden plot is tilled there, it’s prepped for years of gardening
Comment from : Thomas H Chapin IV

Pk Fan
It is fun for playing, practically go Home Depot rent a small tiller is a lot easier
Comment from : Pk Fan

Tim Wragg
No excuse for this All home scale gardens should be no-till and if there's compaction to address, it should be resolved through broad forking and feeding the worms
Comment from : Tim Wragg

Paul Strange
Your turning in close space would be easier if you drive forward out of rool, turn wheel and back around to next rool
Comment from : Paul Strange

goodcat1982
3 hours to do that little patch?
Comment from : goodcat1982

Jay Tea
Do you follow the annual slip clutch maintenance?
Comment from : Jay Tea

Everyday Dad
Tim, I’ve been watching you for a while now and love the videos I’ve been trying to talk myself into the purchase a small tractor and I’m looking for your input You obviously have lots of experience with the subcompact and compact tractors and you even have experience with ventrac 4500 That being said if I was looking at under 30hp tractors to makes some extra money on the side for fun, would you pick the ventrac 4520 over a 1025r or even a 2032r?
Comment from : Everyday Dad

Ionel Minut
in my country this job would cost 10 dollarsi have 500 sqmand i give the worker 16 dollars
Comment from : Ionel Minut

Dodo Woods
is this necessary to have a big tractor?
Comment from : Dodo Woods

Ncredible Dark
In Germany, we use an agria motorhacke for that and I think that is beautiful

Comment from : thomas klein

when the hood drops
not worth my time but if your happy that's all that matters
Comment from : when the hood drops

MrThe3hobos
So why not operate at a $300 minimum for any garden size? I’m our area the cost to rent a walk behind tiller is usually around $250 After taxes, fuel in the machine, mileage and time to go pick the tiller up, and cleaning the machine it’s every bit of $325-$350 depending on where the house is located Charging a $300 minimum is going to save the homeowner both time and money
Comment from : MrThe3hobos

Try not to force steering wheel all the way to the side, u can hear how power steering is crying IDK if these small tractors have individual breakes for each wheel, but if they have u can use them to reduce turning radious Just if truning left, block the left wheel, or increase friction to not destroy grass underneath
Comment from : sosnax1

Jered Mathews
Which Maschio tiller model are you using here?
Comment from : Jered Mathews

Peter Allen
At today's rates, that $125 barely covers the diesel used
Comment from : Peter Allen

Danimal’s House
Tim, I like your videos and am wondering if you would be willing to help me out please Could you tell me what you use for a microphone setup when you do your videos? I’m continuing to grow my channel and would love to improve my audio quality Thank you!

hiteck007
Tight spaces is why I bought a TYM T265, it has Turning brakes No turning brakes on both the JD & Kubota was a deal breaker for me, I really need them on hill blocks

Why so much ballast on the front??? 😳
Comment from : I2aMpAnT

Maibu
Should have used a walk behind tiller, would have been more efficient and more quicker for such a small patch, what your using is made for larger properties with more maneuverability space just wasted fuel and time with such a large machine
Comment from : Maibu

trent farrell
Been farming for over sixty years that’s right I started as a youngster on my parents farmI’ve never seen a bigger waste of resources A tiny patch of ground could have been turned over in a couple hours by one maneverybody has to have the toys these dayslike Tim said it was more for recreationI get a kick out of the hipster city folks let me tell yamore money than brains
Comment from : trent farrell

Larry Rivers
I like tilling alsoTim but bush hogging is my favorite Another great video, thanks
Comment from : Larry Rivers

William farm
I have a 2025r I use a 6ft tiller on it I know that’s probably not recommended for my size tractor but all my attachments are for larger tractors that I used to have can’t afford to by all new stuff Now that the disclaimer is out of the way The 2025 handles it well I do several neighbors gardens I know you may disagree but if a person can only afford to buy one sub compact tractor I think the 2025 is the best option
Comment from : William farm

David Quinn
All that for $100? That's nuts, but I wish I had known I could get that work for such a price, I wouldn't have spent the money on a hand rototiller Why beat myself up if contractors will do it for nearly free? Actually I don't think 300 is unreasonable at all
Comment from : David Quinn

Red Bud Estate
I maybe out of the loop, but what are the blue x's on the tractor for?
Comment from : Red Bud Estate

Comment from : wade morrison

ronald aldred
with the increase in fuel costs, there should be a minimum charge of $400 plus a fuel cost surcharge Be real $300 as a minimum barely accounts for the wear and teaar
Comment from : ronald aldred

Randomcountryboy
You should label turbo johnny as a 1025rt
Comment from : Randomcountryboy

Steve Brannon
What are the blue X’s on your tractor for?
Comment from : Steve Brannon

James S
Guess the algorithm brought me this one I started landscaping part time taking over a Tilling business with front and rear tine craftsman tines Going full time now with regular landscaping but my Tilling customers are consistently the nicest and most generous I have Something about the garden people This machine looks too expensive for me but beats the heck out of front tining a garden
Comment from : James S

shexdensmore
That root reminds me of the roots that I removed from the garden I tilled years ago
Comment from : shexdensmore
