About six years before this, myself and a girlfriend of mine met Merle and Bonnie Owens in Seattle Merle is a fantastic guitar player as well as a fiddle player Seattle and Vancouver B C were the last stops on tours and they met a lot of local musicians

I'm from Bakersfield, CA A lot of people don't give it much respect This happens to be were Merle Haggard signed onwith Fuzzy Owens as his manager From there they took it to Ken Nelson at Capitol records in Los Angeles The rest is history When they talk smack of Bakersfield I think of Merle Haggard and Buck Owens
