let me educate you about recycling cans a tab is 025grams while the whole can is 125 grams this means you need 4000 tabs to get 1 kilo as against only 80 whole cans to get the same weight so that means if you had 4000 cans to get enough tabs from to make one kilo you could have produced 50 kilos of aluminum from the whole cans? i think i'd prefer to get money from 50 kilos than one kilo i somehow doubt the supposed difference in the types of aluminium would make a difference for recyclers they are not going to be separating them before melting it will all go in the same smelter

This is just a goofy thing to make people feel like they are being altruistic, when really it's a silly waste of time It takes about 30 whole cans to make a pound, and over 1000 tabs, and no they aren't worth anymore as scrap aluminum Maybe with a massive amount the tabs would be worth a few pennies more per pound, but not much Spending an hour volunteering for a charity would be worth astronomically more to doing actual charity, than spending an hour picking of soda tabs Fantastic way of teaching people do fake gestures instead of actually helping anyone

these are urban legends, people assume they're for cancer, but the hospital doesn't recycle it's because you can't do anything about cancer so this project to collect is just busy work to give people, mostly children, hope; it's like praying but more proactive in the sense you feel like you're doing something

The tabs are just aluminum, the cans themselves are thin aluminum with a plastic film and paint So melting the tabs are better because they wont have impurities like the plastic and paint

The tabs aren't lined with plastic In recent years, all soda cans are inner lined with plastic & this makes the tab itself a "higher grade" & easier to recycle

Yes the tabs are pure aluminum as where the cans are not they have a thin plastic lining on the inside but the tabs can also be donated to the Ronald McDonald house to help pay for housing accommodations for families with sick kids
