I hate it when you buy from the mint with a huge $500 premium but if you want to sell to a dealer they will only offer spot plus $20 or $50 Comment from : Bingo77 |
I agree with you I have the 1 oz 225th anniversary gold coin and its smaller counterpart the 1/10 oz It is a very well struck nice looking coin I think the reason for its low premium is it is/was viewed as a controversial coin (first black woman image) The mint has not been able to sell its remaining mintage If they don't melt them down hopefully they will lower the premium Comment from : weni, widi wici |
2to1, the AGE you held up, is it a Proof, BU, or Bullion?brbrYour coins look so shiny Comment from : robwin007 |

SD Bullion has a good deal right now on tenth ounce gold Philharmonics I haven't looked at the tenth ounce coins much bc of the higher premiums, but the price on these caught my eye so I did the math; they're only 10 over spot! I wish I would have noticed sooner 😅 but I wanted to share it here Comment from : James Cheek |
Nice coin! brbrQuestion for you sir: brbrWhich fractional coins would sell easily in Europe (specifically Italy) ?? brbrDo you you think the 20 Francs or Sovereins would sell much easier than they do in the USA?? Comment from : Therman Merman |
I don't understand why you dislike $5 US gold commemorative coins because they have 024187 oz of gold They have the same size, gold amount/purity, and face value of the coins minted in the US when gold half eagles actually circulated Why anyone would buy less familiar euro coins with really odd gold amounts doesn't make sense Comment from : gsquare |
How would people that pay a premium on coins think to make money from selling these coins? Simple, these people would probably also sell their coins also with a premium! And that's how people handle and react to buying coins! It's probably the going price of coins now, after the sellers sells the coins at a premium Comment from : Brandon Goss |
That 2017 is one FUGLY coin, sorry if you are triggered Comment from : Betty Hongstein |

That the 125th anniversary coins are still available from the mint show how unpopular they are I did a short video on it, and I wonder if that has a direct affect on what you thing the real value is if you have a real unpopular coin, even if it is low mintage Comment from : Dancers Collectibles |
As someone who began to understand what is going around the world I find myself doing like you and I plan to focus only on stacking gold But only American coins because I dont want to see Liz's head on my metals Comment from : Glutamate Sulphate |
I wish I had a local coin shop Comment from : Omni Politics |
One strategy I'm using to avoid the high premiums is to buy $GLD and do a 1031 exchange into physical bullion once the premiums come back to earth The only physical bullion I've been accumulating currently is platinum Comment from : Thomas Crown |
I pre ordered an MS70 225th anniversary coin from Apmex before the release It was the most I've ever paid for a coin however it is my favorite by far Glad to see it in the green finally too lol Comment from : Thomas Crown |

If the purchase of US mint coins above face value is subject to sales tax in my state, would the tax be considered considered part of the premium? Our sales tax rate is 975ouch! Comment from : Tommy Primm |
Yeah I just don't care for the sjw BS I'm just not going to buy something I really don't like I'm a traditional type of person that's the reason I like gold silver and coins in the first place Comment from : Jason Northcutt |

The primary coin shop I buy from charges $50-70 over spot for such coins that come in off the street I assume they pay melt for everything I've picked up proofs at the same price Out of state I just bought two such coins for $60 over spot: the Tuvalu Simpson, and an Aussie one with a Chinese dragon The stuff that dealers hate and can't move is exactly what I'm looking for If the spot price ever goes up enough to justify selling, I'm not going to care that my stack of eagles brings a slightly higher price It will mean that conditions have changed dramatically and I will be getting far more $$$ than I paid In the meantime I get more enjoyment from my collection with such a variety of beautiful coins Comment from : Uncle Putin |
Is there an issue if i purchase from apmex from Canada? Thank you from Montreal! Comment from : Mike Maners |

Amazing deal on 2017 coin Comment from : Davidka1978Xoroshiy |
You got it cheap due to copper marks and the fact that for some reason the African American Liberty is not very popular I, however, love it, really want one and think you got a fantastic deal as you get the enjoyment of a proof for a bullion price Nice work! Comment from : Andomaca1 |
That's a great purchase! Unfortunately sometimes people get jipped with less than stellar LCS, mainly because the few in my radius, dont have competition and know it Comment from : CasevacDevilDoc |
The coin never really took off I remember reading the comments when the mint was asking people what they thought about the different designs The comments did not favor any of them Most people seemed to see it as a political SJW attempt at moral posturing, and not a sincere statement Comment from : Russell Nentwich |
Love the rooster ! Cheers! Comment from : ikust007 |
Would you be kind enough to come back with the main difference between Maple leaf and Buffalo? What was the biggest issue with the Maple? Merci ! Comment from : ikust007 |

Bro that liberty is fire Comment from : Robert Larkins |
Really good information You are very lucky to have bought the high-relief coin for 80 bucks over spot I live in Central America and only buy Eagles, Maples or Kruggerands I am really narrow in my gold coin needs I wouldn't buy a rooster Liquidity is a primary concern The coins go into a private vault box right after purchase and I never touch the coin again until its time to sell I have no love for gold Its there for emergency's and also for savings Only For now, I am waiting for a dip and when it comes I will buy 2 more Kruggerands They do the job and will be there when I need them later By the way, gold has higher premiums where I live We have to pay for transportation and import taxes Its still worth it because gold has no reporting requirements Its the last asset we can own outside of the US that gives us complete privacy Its a must own asset Comment from : Glen H |
4 9's and so much off the premium! I've always thought it a good idea to quietly remove whatever bullion away from the Crown Comment from : PLASTICDADA II |
What the 225 Liberty got going for itit's a black woman Comment from : Abdur Rahman |
At my local coin shop in Australia, the highest premium coin is the Krugerrand at 13 above spot Closely followed by the AGE at 12 (but they usually don't have them in stock) The Buffalos are 9 The Maples and Britannias are 5 The Australian Kangaroo (aka Nugget) is 4 The Sovereign has a hefty premium of 12, but all fractional coins have large premiumsbrHow do these premiums compare with the local coin shops in the US, UK and other countries? Comment from : cadereeclily |
The best most liquid gold coin in the world with the lowest premium is the 22 karat South African Krugerrand Comment from : Jason Wilson |

Very awesome score! haven't bought one yet because of the prices I have found so far but I will eventually lol and hopefully in some situation like yours Maybe if I could find a smaller denomination I would grab that but nothing like that full 1 oz size to enjoy the design, relief, and luster Comment from : Zaycream21 |

Late to the comments here but how about the Mexican 50 pesos? At 12 oz of gold they seem to be offered at very low premiums Comment from : Steve Paratore |
Would you mind share your estimate over the spot price for fractional gold? I understand that the smaller the fraction, the more the premium you need to pay But I just do not know how many you pay over the spot price to considers a fair deal Thanks Comment from : D Dinh |
Ooohh, your American Liberty, my favorite coin Did find a 1/10 oz, love her Been looking for the silver, ones I found are really spendy Nice pick up Comment from : jenette16 |
I never had trouble selling roosters but I only ask spot 4 ducat has less premium Love 20 francs of all countries Comment from : T mo |

That liberty is very nice Comment from : CuSTACKS |
Wow Comment from : Womble Stacker |
Nice pickup I’ve been picking up the gold Commemorative’s which no one seems to like for close to spot on EBay It’s a good way to stack as long as you realize that you are probably only getting spot back when you sell them (at least to an LCS) even in the OGP Thanks Comment from : Talking Bullion |
Good deal unknown stacker (Unknown to me) I would take that deal any day Neat video Comment from : Natman |
Thanks, you have been adding more videos lately, keep it up! I would like to see a video on your thoughts on gold storage and insurance you have on your stacks I just bought my first coin yesterday, 1 oz gold eagle, and now I am wondering the best way to store it Another video that would be useful would be the process of selling it to a coin shop or online and the economics involved From my limited understanding you buy they coin at time period T The price is Spot@T + Premium + shipping When you go to sell, you basically get none of the premium back? So the sell price would be Spot@T1, meaning your profit would be Spot@T1 - Spot@T - Premium -Shipping Having specific examples would be helpful Thanks! Comment from : AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA |
I remember buying at $1790 from US Mint Comment from : Eric Dawson |
I was at a coin auction 1 week ago and bought 1/2 oz gold Saint gauden for 975 High Relief 1 oz Buffalo sold fot 2000 I could of got more deals but had already spent the money I bought I like auctions You can't always get a deal, but some times you get lucky and you can get coins for spot or even less Comment from : Doug Horst |
This is a good tip haha 😂 sometimes these “premium” coins are sold near melt because most average people don’t care for them Good for us accumulating haha Comment from : Boston Stacker |
I have to agree the commeritives seem to be some of the cheapest I bought a few of the 86 Olympic gold coins pretty cheap It was back when you could get Ebay bucks promotions and use cash back cards so I paid well below spot, but as I recall the base price was something like 2 over spot Granted you get a weird amount of gold 04848 ounces When investing in a coin I like to seperate out the price from melt So if melt is 1900 and you pay 2000, you invested 1900 in gold and 100 in coin premiums That's not to say it's bad to invest in premiums In the last year silver has double, but as premiums have tripled Comment from : ASMR People |
I could only afford the 2018 Liberty but it is my favorite Comment from : Bob Wojcikowski |
Like the number 83 and subscribed! Very helpful information and thank you very much for sharing! 👍😎👍 Comment from : COIN COLLECTING FUN |
I love the Liberty coinWaiting for my LCS to get one in They normally carry a high premium too Great score Comment from : Plane Fun |
How much over spot t is your LCS charging for a secondary 1oz gold? (mine is about $60) Comment from : Plane Fun |
Nice coins good pick ups keep up the good work👍 Comment from : 4nines Fine silver |
I saw a 1984 olympic commemorative gold coin for dirt cheap like 25 plus spot You are right The lesser known coins sell for lower premium compared to age buff maple etc Also I'm not a fan of that 225 liberty aesthetically Pre 33 eagles buffs and krugs look way better Still au is au Comment from : sghunter |
One thing I'm considering is if the price of gold skyrockets, 1 oz is gonna be a ton of money and prob over the 10k paperwork limit Maybe cheap fractionals is the way to go I think 1/10 and 1/4 is ideal and 1/2 isn't worth it thoughts? Comment from : sghunter |
F🐓 T🐔 W🐓 😂🤣 Comment from : Florida Stacker |
So what if you live in Canada is Canadian Royal Mint stuff going to be easier to sell or is USA stuff easier to sell in Canada too? Comment from : Chris Strobel |
Do you think it would be better to wait for the new US mint 2021 that will have some sort of stamp or marking on it for security purposes Comment from : laundromatman24 |
Great deal man nice pick ups ! Comment from : Juice Stacker |
That 2017 American Liberty gold coin is gorgeous 👍 I’m looking for one but the US Mint price is too high for me so I’m holding off until I can get it at a reasonable price Comment from : SilverGold Saver |
