I would say it depends on the mission Some missions have better potential ROI than others Also risk is another big factor For example sending humans to the Moon or Mars tend to be way much more costly and riskier than sending robots or probes IMO, the Artemis program seems to be more for political reasons and virtue signaling than for scientific discovery

I would have loved to have done this in life I love robotics Instead I found a life of crime, drugs, and other stuff When I was kicked out of college (Aerospace degree), I went on to build rockets at home, for fun, and experimenting I thought myself circuity and built my own circuit boards that probably bordered on building missiles instead of rockets I still do it today and I still love it as much as I ever did Moral of the story Don't let someone tell you what you can and can't do In all honesty, rocket science isn't that hard I was kinda shocked Learn the formulas, and you're nearly all the way there If you have a passion, nothing is too difficult

I’m fascinated by outer space and I have learned a lot about it However, I fail to see the utility of multibillion dollar telescopes like the James Webb Telescope It doesn’t help humanity solve any problems on Earth, and I know of no technologies from it that have any crossover potential So while I agree that learning about the early universe is very interesting, I fail to see why it was worth the money spent on the telescope In other words, the technologies developed to make the telescope and the information we will glean from its operation don’t seem important enough to justify its enormous cost

I don't believe that humans should continue to explore outer space It's a lofty dream, but one that comes at a tremendous cost We pour billions into space exploration when there are still so many problems to solve here on Earth We need to focus on healing our planet and addressing the suffering of our fellow humans before venturing into the unknown Besides, the dangers of space travel are all too real, and there's no guarantee that we'll find anything worthwhile out there We need to be realistic about our limitations and channel our resources into improving life on our own fragile planet
