I'm late to the party, but I love this video Thank you for this topic I'm learning the lesson in the last few months that I need less things Decluttering is so good for me Comment from : Lisa Moss |
I'll say that the exception for storage: moving from an apartment that had ample storage space to one with significantly less My friends suggested that I get rid of things, when I had already decluttered what I could before moving Comment from : Callia |

Well, many things in Germany are way cheaper than in the Netherlands So I always buy 6-12 months worth of toilet paper, sunscreen, toothpaste, some tinned food and grains, some cleaning stuff, etc But all stuff that will definitely be used up I always buy a gigantic box of laundry powder because it's considerably cheaper than the small ones per wash So we generally agree I think brThe only collection I have is a collection of patches from my travels that I plan to make the most epic quilt with one day 💜 Comment from : smallbeginning2 |

Te quedó hermoso, saludos desde México ❤ Comment from : alma urbina |

Okay I think this is one of the first videos I have watched of yours and YES I love the honesty 😉 Comment from : Macandfire |
I don’t spend money on seasonal decor either I don’t like to store it for months and months Comment from : Misti Christensen |
You’re speaking to me about not buying backups I’m the worst at buying extra bottles of foundation, mascara, etc because I’m worried I’ll run out of my favorites and they may not be in store and it will take too long to ship 🤣 I need to chill Great video as always Angie! Comment from : AngelErin |
Love this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Totally agree on advent calendarswaste Comment from : Karla Hemphill |
Sweetie You’re so smart! I’m a minimalist in a lot of ways but I just started a YouTube channel so I’m still developing a makeup collection I also recently began up my wardrobe game so I’m working on that too It’s hard I feel guilty buying things Comment from : Julie Long makeup |
Just a different perspectivebrFor things that are not expiring & you will use like cleaners, personal care, etc: 1) you may get volume discounts, 2) the way inflation is going you may actually be paying more at the next purchase, 3) the types of savings accounts that have rates that actually beat inflation pressures tend to be long term deposits, longer than the usage cycle of fmcg & lastly 4) depending on how & where you shop, getting in bulk and travelling less, etc to go shopping may balance out in terms of your carbon footprint Comment from : T De Lisle |
The only advent calendar I know I would like and spend my money on is the Lush one, because it’s all similar products I know I’ll like and use! Comment from : cindilee9141 |
❤❤❤❤ Comment from : cindilee9141 |

love this video like yaaaaaas roast me! drag me! I have stopped hoarding things, but just like you I do like to have a second of my favorite tooth paste - if there is a 2 for 1 deal at the super market of my favorite toothpaste i will get it but I would not get makeup that way since I know things will expire before I finish it ! Comment from : kimdumbun |
Thank you so much for doing this video! I’m getting myself up to do a year of experiences instead of things brI don’t need more clothing or more makeup right now I’m going to focus on spending my money on travel and restaurants and events brSo I’m trying to come up with some “rules” for myself Like I know my flip flops will need to be replaced at some point this year becauseI walk through them However, I only need one pair not five Comment from : Heather Macdonald |
The Xmas decor we have is from years ago, we don't buy it every year We also don't celebrate Halloween here, so we don't buy that I don't like clutter either Nope, advent calendars aren't for me I don't like anything shown either I LOVE candles though PLEASE TELL MY MOTHER THIS!!!! She's always buying backup things, and it drives me up the wall!!! Comment from : Ange |
Actually listening to this while cleaning my bathroom Looking at how many back ups I have I don't need more sunscreen, toothpaste or face cleanser for at least 6 months I sew and collect fabric, so I only buy bras, jeans and shoes That being said I need to sew up some of the awesome things I've collected Comment from : Robin Libby |
It’s great to hear more people talking about this, conscious and intentional spending is so difficult to build as a habit! It’s nice to see people supporting each other with better choices Comment from : Amy P |
I understand that you want to buy less, because your work for YT requires you to test a lot of products But by preserving PR, the joy of new things is already satisfied to a certain extent ❤🩹I understand when people search for dupes because they can't buy the more expensive products For my part, I don't even look at designer brands To each his own🌈 Comment from : Elisabeth Kaiser |
I went to visit a friend last year after not seeing them since 2019 and their house looked like fall exploded inside…like they went to HomeGoods and bought every fall decoration they had That’s not my journey Lol! I don’t even put up a Christmas tree anymore bc I don’t want to move my furniture 😂 Comment from : Emily Majeski |
Great vid angeschka wish more influences were as honest as u ty Comment from : belterbeauty |
For beauty products, I have to have a backup of eyebrow pencil because they have a tendency to run out after I’ve done one brow I also have backups of my skincare because I buy it when it’s on sale, and I use the same stuff For house stuff, I have backups of hand soap and dish soap because I buy them when they are on sale Comment from : Donna Roberts |
wow i don't buy clothes every mount is take 4 years between when i buy clothes Comment from : Lene Sin side |
the only thing i buy backups of, several at once, is a moisturiser i have been using for almost 20 years and i am scared they will discontinue it never found one as good (for me) Comment from : beimkohlehydrat |
nothing to do with the video subject but i just want to mention much i am digging all the silver and gray and ash tones that are at your roots i think that looks gorgeous! Comment from : beimkohlehydrat |
I could never choose whatbrI wanted to try from oden’s eye and I had never heard anything but good things so imho first order was their mystery box a year or so ago I new it couldn’t contain anything I would love Comment from : Susan Stetson |
The only place I did seasonal decoration was in my office Now I work from home so I got rid of most of it It used to be fun and made going to work more pleasant They closed our office and I don’t have a place inside to work so I work from my back patio so I don’t do any decor All my daily work stuff is in a weather proof plastic tub lol Comment from : Susan Stetson |
I totally agree about decor or collection on display I see things people buy and I don’t understand why because I would never display that even if I think it’s cute or funny I feel anxious with clutter and extra stuff and I personally think it tackys up the room Fight all the time with my family about what we are displaying Comment from : Victoria Sellitto |
Omg the advent calendar situation with Chanel last year (I think? 2 years ago?), let’s all recall that this year 😂 brbrbrShoes are the perfect example of why you invest in the right/good items and don’t need more I wear the same 3 pairs of shoes every day Granted I am not a shoe gal, like I love a cute shoe I appreciate those extra fancy pretty shoes, but that’s not my joy, and my feet need the special support because they are wide and flat with an insane instep, I can’t just wear whatever so I appreciate from afar I love this chat don’t buy what you don’t use! Comment from : Haley Sawyer |
love this advaices, i need to hear this, thank you queen Comment from : Andrijana Adamović |
for seasonal decor (i only really have a few christmas things) i recommend second hand! it is very easy to find even beautiful vintage pieces (i love 50s christmas decor) for very little money but even modern pieces and christmas lights are easily available at thrift stores and charity shops for fraction of the cost of new decor Comment from : Satu S |
When you talk about discontinued stuff it always makes me think of the ND Foundation X+? Was it really discontinued in Sweden in the end ? Because in France it's readily available on Sephora still, no shades are sold out Comment from : metropolitan kreyole |
Whenever my parents visit, they always want to buy a bunch of stuff for my house I truly appreciate it and don’t want to be ungrateful, but I have to try and convince them I don’t need 6 bottles of cleaner or extra large pack of paper towels I appreciate the gesture, but they’re bigger than my couch 😂 Comment from : Joni G |
I agree with almost everything But the one type of thing i will absolutely keep in storage at home is cleaning supplies!😂 laundry soap and every boring related item when they are on a great discount and its almost time to get it anyway Yes its money sitting there But it is potentially less money sitting there than if i were to go and buy it once i run out and need it I tend to do the same with some simple canned foods like beans or tuna The reason that goes for both types of items is - to save money, have less trips to the store both because im usually on a tight time schedule and because it is boring and in that way - food related, i know i always have either something fast to build a meal around for the really busy times and for the house supplies i know its always possible for me to do a wash or a fast clean if i have some extra time and its neededbrbrBut for beauty, make up, fashion, decor and such items, absolutely! And sooo many could really use that healthy mindsetbrWe have a lot of christmas decor at home and we really love to have it all up in december The past years we have hosted a christmas day with friends where we make decorations for all of us, listen to christmas songs and drink hot chocolate so the collection will grow a little bit each year, but i love the days and the memories of the christmas decor we create😅 Comment from : Swizzlestickx |
Completely agree about the advent calendars and mystery boxes Comment from : shyla Vincent |
Good advice Comment from : Nancy Howell |
I didn’t know buying advent calendars for yourself was a thing until I started watching beauty content on YouTube🤷🏻♀️😆 Comment from : BecauseLeslieSays |
Sounds like us hoarders will have what we need when there is a supply shortage Lol Comment from : Nik xxxee |
♥️♥️♥️ Comment from : Marylou Connolly |
I am one of those people who buy a couple of each cleaning supply items I like the seasonal scents of Mrs Meyers fall scents I buy 3 dish soaps, 2 all purpose cleaners, and 3 hands soaps in the scent I like so I can enjoy that scent for a good 6 months I buy 1 laundry soap from Costco q6mo since they have the Ecos brand I like But I think that’s probably the exception to the rule And it’s honestly only a few things and that’s it Comment from : Kat Lord |
I really appreciate this video as I'm someone on a no buy and I have been so sad because I haven't been ablecto purchase all the new holiday makeup but on the other hand I've been able to give family ideas , which usually I can't 😅 Plus what you said in the video my hubby has been saying, and I did stop buying holiday decor a few years ago when I had to spend about $150 in totes one year to store what I bought and had to find a way to store for a year Comment from : debi fletcher |
I have lots and lots of christmas decorations, but I put those on really early in November 🤩 I like to do some DIY projects every year and now I have decided to do some videos on youtube about it I would love to see your christmas decor 😍 Comment from : Bymiahs |

Yes!!! 🙌🏻 I recently talked about financial responsibility Buying a Chanel bag does NOT make you rich, especially if it’s on your credit card Comment from : Greta Beth |
Thank you for the tough love 🥹🥹 I needed to hear this As someone who collects eyeshadow palettes since 2015, I needed to to hear that this! I don’t need to complete sets or buy limited editions on eBay for 4xs the price 💓💓brbrThis is really helpful especially with Black Friday around the corner, the amount I spend I could actually go an awesome rd trip 🌸 much love from Aus 🇦🇺 X Comment from : Nasheeda Cousins |
I don’t do seasonal decor either Storing all of it would give me anxiety Comment from : Barb Robbins |
I’ve never purchased an advent calendar, stopped putting up a Christmas tree, and don’t get a lot of seasonal decor As I get older I want to declutter and not have to store out of season items Comment from : Alice P Rabbit |
I understand what you’re saying about backups and agree, but do want to mention that sometimes things in childhood can cause people to amass backups like that, especially of household goods Just a good thing to remember Comment from : Tali |
Dang! Angelica is talking TRUTHS today The ONLY advent calendar I bought was Lunar Beauty’s…and only because I saw the final product on your channel! So I very much appreciate that I’ll take all of your advice! Comment from : MegEliWic |
I think the home decor thing is more common in Europe, where as in the US everything is totally capitalized and everyone feels like they have to go all out on decorations I have a friend that lives in France and he said they mostly just put up a small Christmas tree for the holidays, no other decorations Comment from : Erin Beth |
I've seen Melts Amor Eterno palettes going for $200+ each or as much as $500 for the set Comment from : Jen K |
I buy my Apple cider vinegar hair rinse every year during the sephora sale I'm starting the bottle I bought last year tomorrow I purposely have a bottle on hand as I keep my hair short in the summer and I grow it out for winter I use it more frequently in winter, so there's a good chance I could use it before the next sephora sale Comment from : Jen K |
I live in NYC with my husband and 2 boys in a small apartment Def no room for clutter or a lot of extras I have to declutter constantly and honestly it feels good not accumulating all the crap! Comment from : Jessica Rauch |
I have come to the same position as you with clothes I have spent close to $400 over years blowing through so many black pumps I finally got sick of it and when I was in Vegas I had a chance to try on pumps from Saint Laurent They felt and looked magical I bought them Now I never need to buy black pumps ever again! Comment from : fox does makeup |
When you get the new Natasha palette, Angie, would you please compare it to the ABH Nouveau? You probably will, but I'm interested in the new ND, but when I go for today sage colors, I reach for the ABH Nouveau and the Colourpop Child palette And I wear those colors very often If most of those ND shades are the cream to powder, though I absolutely love that formula Can't wait for the review Comment from : Michelle J |
I have a lot of holiday decor, but mostly from home goods, tj maxx, target, etc and Ive had most of it for 10+ years No need to spend a ton on holiday decor - walmart even has some great finds! Comment from : Aly W |
I was born in America but I feel like I should have been born in Europe Capitalism and consumerism is just not for me! I grew up with a mother who constantly over consumed everything (clothes, cleaning supplies, food, house wares- you name it!) I grew up with clutter & excess things everywhere (but we were somehow still “poor”?) and as an adult I find I’m the complete opposite now I appreciate this video More people (Americans) really need to hear this! ❤M Comment from : Maloojis Loves |
LOVE this commentary! You are preaching to my soul! I need to follow all your tips You really are my "spirit animal!" 😆 Comment from : Allison Page |
A few years ago I started to stop shopping at Sephora unless I absolutely needed something or it was a Rouge sale Even though I find the color story of palletes very inspiring, I’ve gotten realistic about how much eyeshadow one person could possibly use (and the fact that I don’t even wear it much anymore) This year I’ve started to think about “Am I going to need a replacement before the next Rouge sale?” Comment from : Shelby Sieber |
Agree 100 😁 Ive never bought an advent calender in my life, I never bought back ups of toilet paper even during covid, I dont use body lotion either, I feel like Im sticky and wet, I go through my medicine cabinet and makeup and throw away expired items every 3 to 6 months, my clothes and handbags Im constantly decluttering donating I absolutely love getting ready with you every day angie 🙂💝 Comment from : Ruby |
Your thoughts on home decor and clothing is SO smart I only buy clothing if I LOVE it or if it's like something I really like/wear a lot in a different color (I have like 4 of the same workout tops in different clothes because I wear them all the time) We have Christmas decorations but we don't buy more every year unless it's something different and has meaning to us But you won't catch me with a stuffed turkey on my kitchen table or a giant pumpkin in my front yard! I'm trying to be smarter about makeup these days but i definitely don't buy as much as some of my friends - I only buy stuff I truly love or want Loved this video btw 💜💜💜 Comment from : mybeautyfilledlife |
I'm literally just like you with the buying mentality Having too much is stressful I'm trying to minimize atm I've been trying to for years because that's what happens when you try to declutter and have a more minimal life after buying stuff you don't need for years on end and trying to dupe instead of buying the thing you truly want - because realistically, a lot of dupes will fully or almost fully amount to the original price of the original item you want Might as well save up lol Comment from : Nekomon |
Great advice I’m currently cleaning and decluttering and I’m being ruthless with it If it takes me more than 30 seconds to say keep or toss out it goes Comment from : Barbara Pennington |
LOL - laughing cause i just spent $130 on three bottles of Rogaine when I've never used it before because one bottle is $75 and dammit, I need the bargain price and i want my good hair back But overall, this video is 100 what I needed!!!! Thanks Angie! Comment from : GillianCrafts |
My mom and I, have like 12 backups of our favorite body soap😂 hahaha because my supermarket almost never has it, so when they restock, I buy them all😂 Comment from : Ana Sofía Acuña |
Candle Day from Bath&BodyWorks it’s right around the corner! The best price for candles of the year😍 $10 or less!! Here are some recommendations for you Angie!:br- After darkbr- Smoked Vainilla Whiskey br- Coffee & Whiskeybr- Leather & Brandybr- Cypress & Amber Comment from : Ana Sofía Acuña |
I got rid of my beauty box subscriptions because I realized how little of the products I used out of them Honestly, I think I was more in love with the idea of receiving a package rather than the contents inside That's a monthly expense I definitely do not miss brThank you for creating this video! One of my favorites! Comment from : Charlotte Smith |
I like having backups, because it gives me the luxury of not having to shuffle my whole weeks’ schedule solely because I need something that has just run out However, I don’t buy backups of things that are used up slowly, such as perfume, dishwasher detergent or most makeup items 🤷♀️ to each their own Comment from : faddyfairy |
Who is Maggie that does the advent calendar openings? Comment from : RJ C |
These are some really unique perspectives! To your point -- something like soap or laundry detergent isn't suddenly going to disappear tomorrow; it will always be there and you can just buy more when you run out! Comment from : Erika Siebring |
I am a backup person I’ve widdled it down though to absolute necessities I had to stockpile tp at the beginning of the pandemic because it was nowhere for months, so when I saw it I got whatever the limit was I never buy makeup backups unless it’s concealer, mascara, or face powder cause I go through those quickly Comment from : Rachael |
This is a good time for this video and for us to be reviewing our spending habits Only once have I bought a whole colection and that was the ND dream collection as I loved every item and I use them all I'm getting better at not buying backups of beauty and homeware items but it's a process I have recently stopped buying magazines, my 2 favourites are on subscription and I had so many sitting around it was just clutter I still have to clean out my clothes Comment from : Shendi Sackett |
I bought a couple of makeup advent calendars when we first had them years ago in the UK I quickly realised I hadn't used that makeup at the end of the year I do love the Cult Beauty Edits though, so instead of an advent calendar I bought the hair, the luxury and the fragrance edits I went over each box carefully to make sure I would use the products and enjoy them I really love the fragrance one as it's home fragrance and perfume Comment from : Shendi Sackett |
Disagree hard for backups Paying less per unit on items that you will use (absolutely) is good advice (family of 4)brbrMakeup is definitely singular and individual but if you buy 4 tooth paste at 1$ off each tube… you e saved 4$ in 6 months toilet paper? Same idea you’ll end up x amount higher at year end It’s not like you’ll never use it Comment from : Warchief Peebs |
Hi Angelica, Everything you said is true 🙏👍 I wish I could be so disciplined That why you are going to have your 🏠 🙏🙏 It really does take this kind of mine set to achieve your goals ❤️🥰❤️ Comment from : Taz |
This is such a great video! I have so much makeup that I don’t think I’ll ever use in my lifetime and I’m only 50! I stopped buying makeup a few months ago The only thing I’ll buy is foundation, primer, and setting spray Comment from : Jacki V |
But really, fast fashion of any kind does the same thing as fakes: no oversight, no accountability, and questionable sourcing and labor practicesbrAs a woman in your 40’s it would be nicer to see you take a page out of Audrey Coyne’s book: better choices, thoughtful choices, and tasteful looks That top you have on here is something my sister wore in the 8th grade brAnd you can upgrade the beach style, too brPeople act like it’s a human right to buy cheap, fast fashion Comment from : Johanna Zamora |
I have Christmas decorations that have been passed down from my mother I honestly don't understand the people who buy all the new things to decorate every year Comment from : Nikkidarkangel Pnope |
Love this video❤️ Comment from : Vanessa Leon |
Yes, about buying only the most needed backups (soap, shampoo, etc) Me personally, I buy a couple of the same tops or dresses, because I am tall, have ridiculously big chest and small waist so when I find something that fits and I like, I buy backups (I personally don't care about fashion to be bothered that I have the same dress in 3 colours) Comment from : Emux Kr |
I agree on the advent calendar now having previously been sucked in by the excitement and marketing for a few years Last year I had one and all the stuff went in a box, I used 2 things from it and thats it All that money wasted, I would rather buy one thing I absolutely love and want That item could be my first midi Natasha denona palette which would get more use Comment from : Judy Morgan |
❤ Comment from : L S |
Angie, why are you attacking me with this logic! I'm going to take some things out of my Sephora cart now Comment from : Madde Gaston |
Consumerism: brBuy shit you don't need, with money you don't have, to impress people you don't like Comment from : Catherine |
💜 Comment from : JustachicknamedBonnie |

I own too many clothes and shoes and it makes it difficult to even find anything I want to own fewer things that I really love Ugh Lol Comment from : Mrs Wemberham |
I needed to hear this, thank you Angie! Comment from : jo4vt |
If you feel this way about clutter I can only imagine how you feel when u get PR or when you start to get much more PR I have anxiety attacks watching someone unbox a ton of PR lol You are giving really great advice for the every day consumerI didn't start buying a ton of makeup until I started watching YouTube lol I finally quit and got help with my fomo issues lol Comment from : Toni Wright |
