I personally like the gold bars They don’t get enough love I’ve noticed from some YouTube stackers And when they say “government backing” I think they just mean recognition over bars They bring up the fact that ppl can’t test the gold bar to make sure it’s real where as they would trust the coin more Which may be true but I think if it was that bad ppl would take whatever they could get Comment from : FLmetalhead |
A-for you good Dr That crack about spread was out of alignmentbrMark Yaxley noted the importance of name recognition Argor-Harues comes to mindgood prices yes ,well widely known? Comment from : James Everett |
I also love how you always have some nice stones The pyrite always makes me laugh Comment from : Calixto Lopez |
They just need to make the bars 'cooler'? :) But yes, I am convinced - now I have to execute on that conviction Comment from : Ashley Payne |

You're preaching to the choir in my case 100 in agreement I take the same approach to other financial decisions The juice needs to be worth the squeeze for me to bite Gold bars are all I have and rounds and bars comprise 98 of my silver All PMs are purchased at a front end loss due to premiums so I want to keep them as low as possible Those who claim that bars are hard to sell probably have a COI Comment from : David K |
A 😁 excellent discussion, makes me want to consider bars in the future, I do love Krugerrands those are my favorite but I'll keep an open mind Comment from : Sbentsen27 |
The old saying; monkey see, monkey do applies here Most of us only go for coins because that’s what most channels only go for I was lucky to learn from the beginning that is all about “weight “ and bought several bars and saved money My only complaint is about the assay card which begs the question: can I remove the bar from the assay card? I bought a 10g bar on Black Friday and I noticed some dings that I believed was in the card but after a few days that was bothering me and I decided to open the card and sure enough it was in the bar for that reason I’m not sure if should keep in the card What’s your recommendation? Comment from : Silver Leaf |
Bullshit!! Gold bullion coin is the best to buy and sell I won't touch a gold bar Most people buy and sell online If u did a poll online, what would most people buy, I bet it would be a gold coin They would say that time energy trumps gold bars You need to learn your market When u have a gold bullion coin, you are a garented it will sell inside 48hrs Comment from : Whatever |

I'm a sucker for Gold Britannias they hit right in the sweet spot for me They are stunning and pretty much within $20 of the cheapest bars and honestly, I really dislike the whole assay card and plastic packaging of bars Comment from : rodguitarman |
I personally like coins, but if the premiums get dislocated (like now), I buy rounds and bars Comment from : One Is None |
Well, I'm all about the "Bang for my buck!" So I tend to get bars and, more specifically, generic bars and coins When, or if the SHTF! I don't believe we'll care about that premium price you paid for that Eagle Silver is silver, and gold is gold So for you, my buddy A+ all day Comment from : Joe Smith |
Coins are not cooler than bars! I only stack bars Comment from : John Talbot |
Going to start stacking smarted and never stop learning Your mind and education is the best investment you can make, and that's for free! Thanks for the knowledge! Comment from : coldkill86 |

I really enjoyed this video! I have almost entirely fractional good bars, but the few fractional coins I have I way overpaid for Comment from : BobaFitness |
A+ !!! I'm not more or less convinced because I've always been ok with bar's The only thing I don't like about bars are the assay card's I understand they're there for security and proof of legitimacy, but I like to feel, hear and smell my gold and you can't do that if it's in a permanent plastic package I guess you can take them out, but that seems like a stupid thing to do if you ever plan on selling them I have them and I buy them, I just like to feel the gold, so that's why I prefer the coins I guess some gold coins come in assay cards too and if you want to touch graded coins forget about it Anyways I love all gold even the nuggets! Comment from : Luke F |
I know, I know, but I still prefer coins : ) Awesome as always! Comment from : 72cmcinc |

Well My Fellow "Stacking Dinosaur", I fully agree Gold is gold, silver is silver I don't care if it's a bar, coin, round, whatever If the weight and purity is there, so is the liquidity If the premium is right, it just doesn't matter As a matter of fact, these confused stackers that don't want bars, it may just create an opportunity for us to pick up bars even cheaper I hear the government backed argument time and time again Well, don't a lot of us stack because we don't trust the government and it's ability to manage the monetary system so that one cracks me up Also, I've seen a ton of fake Silver Eagles out there so it happens plenty Comment from : Constitutional Stacker |

Another great video Professor I'm not partial as long as it's gold at a fair price I have coins and bars The premiums are a little easier on the bars And afterall weight is what I'm after To me gold is gold and ultimately it's all liquid Just purchase from trusted and proven sources Thanks Professor Comment from : HillbillyStacker |
A+ Brother I wish I could meet you in person at a coin show, or whiskey bar, to pick your brain for a hour Be well and thank you Comment from : G Star Ace |
Bars are good and I have lots of different types of gold Lately, older Mexican gold coins here in TX have been cheap, especially the smaller fractional types Comment from : thetapheonix |

A+ I go cheapest, so bars I'm above my DCA with this recent rununp which feels great Comment from : Eric K |
In the uk sovereigns are the cheapest way to buy gold Bars are one of the most expensive ways Also sovereigns are legal tender therefore cgt exempt + gold bars are not cgt exempt and the cgt allowance will go down to £3000 in 2024 Comment from : On an journey |
A+ Dr Stacker Should receive my first gold bar today from SD’s Black Friday spot deal Did have a discussion with my one only LCS about bars and he does buy bars but a spot or bellow IMO you still have online dealers as well as per to per options for sales as well I am trying my best to just stack weight at this point Stay blessed amigo Comment from : oldone58 |
Great vid as always A ! I very much enjoy bars I recently desperately tried to convince my Dad to buy the 100g Gold bar recently from SD Bullion for his stack when it was $5780 I'm totally addicted to learning new crafts/skills/tools ! Comment from : salohcin0083 |
Good stuff 👍🏼brI agree! A+ Comment from : SoCalSilver |
In some jurisdictions (wink, wink, nudge, nudge) a collection of coins is legally classified as a consumer good and not as reportable wealth (which is subject to taxation) In some jurisdictions for long term holding, a set of coins is cheaper to own Comment from : Cycling Philosopher |

I take it you don’t stack 90? Hard to get your weight up stacking that while maintaining a tight spread Comment from : pborkstrom |
Shocker, another super-solid vid from ya, Doc! I agree with stacking the cheapest weight for the most part I do sneak a little higher premium stuff in there as a guilty pleasure-mainly low mintage or poured collectible stuff brbrKey is to stack what you like that fits your budget and plan Liquidity is certainly an important factor as well If you enjoy what you’re stacking, you’ll likely stick with it longer I could think of worse ways to spend fiat 😆 Keep stacking y’all! 🤙🏻 Comment from : MELLOW Stacks |
Another great video Doc! I'm not quite ready for gold yet I'm still working on that silver! But I am actually excited to buy my first quarter, half or whole ounce of gold one day The gold bars are like the silver bars I see They are cheaper than the coins and rounds! Comment from : Leroy Johnson |
A Comment from : Matt Harriman |
I agree it's all about the tight spread! I am trying to do my best at diversifying and getting a little of both bars and coins but I will say that coins draw me to them a lot more than bars 🤣 Comment from : ivanhoe keo |
Wait!!, the dragon of silver and the slayer of silver are wrong???? Lol your Amazing 👏 😉 love my gold bars Comment from : saint51688 |
I'll buy bars or coins doesn't really matter, but I do prefer to pickup older foreign coins, especially Mexican gold, living in the US southwest I can get them easily with a very low premium Comment from : My name is Nobody |
I only began stacking this year and I have personally only purchased silver thus far, however I did receive an early Christmas present from my family that was a 1oz gold bar assay As amazing a gift as it was, I couldn't help but think how unsatisfying it would be to spend that much money on something so damn small I couldn't have asked for a better gift, because I know it's a smart move to diversify my portfolio, but I don't know when I will ever be able to bring myself to buy some gold instead of some silver Something about having a heavy bar just feels so good It feels similar to the way I am more drawn to "alt" crypto currencies as opposed to Bitcoin itself Buying a fraction of a thing for thousands of dollars just doesn't feel right to me, even though I know that doesn't really matter if the value is there Seems like a topic you could dive into and explain to me why my primal instincts prefer size and quantity over quality in some cases 😅 Comment from : The Xpurt |
Gold is gold, bars or coins it’s all gold Comment from : Old School Nate |
A+! My question is can’t we do both? My lcs has plenty of silver bars but rarely has gold bars I’m definitely opening up on gold bars but I would feel more comfortable with sovereign mints like RCM, Royal Mint, and possibly Perth from the right vendor Comment from : Silver Britches |

A+ Comment from : all pro |

You sir are one of the wisest advisers when it comes to precious metals I appreciate you sharing your knowledge Comment from : S K |
If it's a shiny expensive metal it's for me ! Comment from : Charles DOWNING |
My plan is buying an ounce of gold every month, plus silver For gold, I will buy what I want, not some bar that I really don't care about it Silver, I will buy the cheapest possible, unless it is totally ugly or boring But, Gold will be a coin that I really want, not really worried about premiums to have something that is what I want to collect I can sell my boring stuff if I have to, but I will pay decent premiums for coins for things that I want, and know that they will keep the premium No big premiums for boring stuff Comment from : fin59shaw |
1 Troy oz is 311 grams Divide the price by the weight and you get $ per gram Lately I’ve been buying valcambe 10g bars and getting the same $ per gram as if I was buying 1oz krugerrands I like my little “dimes “ Comment from : Clayton Gehrke |
A+ Comment from : Richmart1955 |
The closest to the 1 oz as far is premiums is the 20 gram bar Anything less than 20 grams comes with high premiums Definitely all sizes are good to have but the lowest premiums start at the 20 gram bars Comment from : ZanoHvac |
Buy 1000 oz bars whenever you can, smallest premiums Use a reputable dealer that guarantees to buy them back without an assay Get some smaller pieces just in case you need them for barter is of course a good idea Comment from : Michael S |
I never buying ingots in packages, only coins 👌🙂 Comment from : AK Gold Bear |
Well, I was only able to get 1 item for black Friday, but it falls in line with this lesson 10g kine bar at spot I take my Doctor's advice Keep the spread small as possible, bar or coin I operate under the premise that I will only get spot if I sell I am keeping records of purchases, and know what I have invested THANK YOU! Dr Stacker The university has made me a smarter stacker Give you and me an 🅰️➕ Comment from : Sandman Slim |
Now I'm mad at myself for not buying that 10 gm gold bar at spot! Oh well Live and learn Comment from : Silver Stormie Normie |
Thanks for taking some arrows for us Brother Brian Kuszmar is a stud! Love his channel!brA+ Professor! Bars are a consideration now Comment from : Christopher McCormick |
Thank you for telling the truth My LCS pays five dollars over spot for coins and spot for bars Do the math folks, it aint rocket science Great video! Comment from : James Cathcart |
The premiums on bars , at online dealers , have risen to be close to coins I quess that is why the lcs is so important Comment from : Terry Holmes |
My first oz was in bars but I like touching gold and holding it without the assay plastic cases so I’ve moved on to coins Comment from : 480 Grains |
A Comment from : Jessie Fazzio |
I am really liking the newer bars with the QR codes and the Kinebar may be the best looking security feature yet However, when I saw the low premium even in some cases, lower than bars premiums on those SA ElephantsI backed up the truck I think one day those will become SA's version of the Buffalo to go with the Krugerand Comment from : Jason and Juli M |
Bars rounds coins I don't care I like it all Comment from : Freedom Stacker |
Another outstanding video, Professor! You always bring solid logic, reason and a heap of evidence to your videos I'm glad I'm were not opposing counsel in a courtroom Great information as always, thank you! And yes, I always stay until the very end of each of your videos - A+ Comment from : Throckmorton |
A +, I like rectangles more than circles anyways Comment from : Charles Tisdial |
Your LCS saying reinvest the premium savings from buying bars instead of eagles and putting into silver was a very helpful viewpoint! Comment from : David Tierney |
I think bars are prettier Comment from : dolm |
Premiums have always been the anti-stack A+ brPeople saying they stack as a hedge against inflation and in the same breath pay a 40 premium 🥴 Comment from : Dont ask |
