GalaxyTraveler
Just got two of the polar bear and cub coins and just ordered two of these coins Love all the series that RCM puts out and anything with wildlife in general Think my favorite is the 15oz grizzly, and the great horned owl for the birds of prey series

Washingstone
what ? didn't you see the huge polar bear on it ? that's heavier than an oz
Comment from : Washingstone

QuinceM1
I got one for my birthday Not sure if I'd purchase one myself or not, but I like it The thickness is great, strange size, but still think it's a nice coin Not particularly detailed, but nice semi-neumismatic bullion coin to have

lanceoa

Quid Est Veritas
I like it; its actually got me to go back and get all of the wildlife series, as well as collecting future ones There is something nice about the thickness of it

I generally try not to pay too high of a premium for RCM coins, due to the milk spot issue The premiums would vanish pretty quickly on a spotted coin Also, this particular coin should have had a custom capsule built for it I will be interested to see what people are willing to pay in couple of years, when the coins show odd toning, due to not being in a capsule, or milk spots showing up

Jezebel Decibel
Australia & Canada have some similar issues with wild-life government mint coins For some reason they always put an old dog on the back ;) LOL But on a serious tone This coin could work great for fractional exchange If somebody only has 1 oz as change, for a 1/2 oz purchase, you could hand them this & get 1 oz in return, transaction done ! I do like the 9999 purity of the RCM

hooverdog1957
I don't like seeing any humans on my coins and especially a lizard queen I don't buy any coins with monarchs especially If you are a statist I guess one can tolerate such a thing, but for anarchists this is totally disgusting
Comment from : hooverdog1957

hooverdog1957
Isn't the troy ounce the standard by which bullion is measured and priced I go to Kitco and prices are listed in dollars per troy ounce and not dollars per 100g I don't really like this size myself as it is just confusing If you need to make a trade you would just use a 1 ounce plus a 1/2 ounce for the transaction and not a 1 1/2 ounce This is just a way for the mint to sell more coins To me this is purely numismatic and for it to be a collectible a low mintage would be necessary
Comment from : hooverdog1957

lowpross11
It's a nice bullion coin Was there a low mintage on them? Thanks
Comment from : lowpross11

Silveready1
nice looking coin but IMO they should have reversed it and put the bear and ice in frosted cameo and leave the fields of the coin glossy
Comment from : Silveready1

Cupcake91
I received my tube last week I also thought they may be more desired down the road due to odd size and face value, but I would have likely ordered them even if they were 1 oz and $5 face value, just b/c of the polar bear
Comment from : Cupcake91

Silver88
I'm going to correct myself and say they are exclusively distributed IN THE USA from Lear Capital and NOT made exclusively FOR Lear Capital
Comment from : Silver88

Silver88
I just bought a tube of these earlier today Drutter It's a limited run coin with a mintage limited to 500,000 and were made exclusively for a company called Lear Capital who ordered them from the Royal Canadian Mint I think it's a unique coin that will surely demand a premium in the future similar to how the 2006 1/2 oz silver wolf is doing
Comment from : Silver88

lanceoa
I got 2 at a high premium I'm thinking the value will go up on these
Comment from : lanceoa

TurtleFeather Brew
a very lovely coin, still debating on the issue on placing currency in a 15 TOZ coin with a est 24 premium on it, might just get one as a Xmas excuse haha, would like to see the polar bear design on the 1/4 TOZ $20 coin be a regular run design for a $1 dollar 9999 silver back money :)
Comment from : TurtleFeather Brew

D Rutter
When you say 'nicely finished', do you mean it's more nicely finished than the Silver Maple? To me it appears identical in quality and finish The only physical difference I can find is the thickness and the design on the reverse
Comment from : D Rutter

Alexiscom1
I got mine today Very nicely finished coin with very high premium
Comment from : Alexiscom1

Orest
Thanks for not shopping the witch's face in the video :)
Comment from : Orest

skybirdbird
well it is lovely :-)
Comment from : skybirdbird

D Rutter
Just like with other bullion coins (such as the Maple), there is no worldwide price tag that everybody uses It's price is decided by the two people involved in the transaction For this one, I paid 65 CND on December 4th 2012, which was 24 over spot, putting it in numismatic territory A 1oz Silver Maple would have been 8 over spot
Comment from : D Rutter

Larkinchance
It sure looks purtty
Comment from : Larkinchance

D Rutter
Agreed Apparently, the Mint wants to experiment with different sizes of bullion, because they believe customers want more variety Too bad that in a country that uses the Metric system they can't experiment with coins in grams 5g, 10g, 25g and so on
Comment from : D Rutter

D Rutter
Nothing differentiates the obverse from a Silver Maple's obverse, other than instead of a little 5, there's a little 8 :)
Comment from : D Rutter

christopher mendez
very nice id buy a few

FoyshaCollection
