Just to add, there are amazing growth companies that pay dividends as well Microsoft, United Health, Broadcom, Home Depot, Texas Instruments, Visa, Amgen & Eli Lilly are some US blue chip companies that pay a lower yield but have a dividend CAGR over 10 in some cases like UNH and HD over 20 annually (as opposed to Canadian banks at a 6-7 dividend CAGR) It goes without saying if a company has a mega market cap; huge revenue & margins you’re going to get a market beating return as well as free cash flow to support huge dividend growth, it’s just going to take longer and more invested to reach that dividend income but compounding growth also applies to your dividends over the long run Canadian companies sort of have high dividend yields and consistent increases ingrained into their fabric, but of course they’re not going to return the same as large cap US equities
