There is a reason why Arabic is a very difficult language to acquire It is at least a third-generation dialect of one of the oldest written languages on the planet Because it is a dialect of aramaic, it has its roots in original Hebrew and Hebrew has its roots in Sumerian Because it is a dialect and had been a dialect of Aramaic up until about 400 years ago when it was finally a language in its own right and therefore the Quran was actually finally Rewritten in Arabic It picked up an awful lot of clutter The same reason why English is a very difficult language to understand, it was originally a Latin language, and picked up inferences from many other languages and still does to this day Comment from : @44hawk28 |

I think I saw a precursor to this video showing him explaining his method at the beginning of the journey I was thinking this is not going to work lol I was wrong I’m glad brbrThe trick is finding people who are on board with this teaching style and patient enough to play along I don’t think I’m motivated enough to overcome my shyness to do it So what’s the next best thing? It seems maybe reading and watching videos He recommends reading anyway brbrBut what about rote (review) He says he recorded his sessions to listen during downtime like commuting or doing chores brbrAs inspiring as this video is, it took a ton of will power to execute this and get other people on board with his plan I wonder how many viewers are able to copy it? Maybe not a genius but definitely driven to learn languages Comment from : @paulwalther5237 |

For someone who doesn't enjoy socializing, where should they find a second language partner? It's challenging to engage with many people in real life like in the videos, and various language practice events seem daunting I also want to learn English, I probably can only seek like-minded online friends Comment from : @user-bo2pd4rs6d |

I live in Turkey In the 1970s, there was a tremendous amount of worker migration from Turkey to Germany and France They witnessed that these people, most of whom were not primary school graduates, were able to speak German and French to a great level in 6-7 months Because these people started to speak German and French at a great level in about a year or so When they came to Turkey to visit their families a year and a half later, they spoke German and French very fluently This clearly shows that there was a big mistake in grammar Comment from : @muhammedsaidsert9869 |

⚠️⚠️⚠️ I DO NOT AGREE AT ALL that Arabic is level 5 of hardness and being classified with Chinese and Japanese ARABIC has an alphabet of 28 letters and guess what, if I write it phonetically, it starts like this : alif, ba ta Does it remind you something? Alpha beta teta And somewhere it continues like this : kaf , lam, mim, noon, same as in English : key, el, em, en Astonishing isn't i ? And there is a lot of similarities like this In fact all the alphabets have the same root In the other hand the pronunciation might be difficult for a native English speaker but there is no need to pronounce perfectly to speak and to be understood Very important detail is that there is one academic arabic wich students learn at school and in official arabic media, but every arabic country has its particular variation of daily arabic speaking and it is an important point to consider before starting to learn Comment from : @farazdaqchamal6417 |

9:19 My friend and I spent a summer in Madrid before our senior year in high school I was an excellent Spanish student and thought my Spanish was excellent; he was mediocre and I thought his Spanish sucked But he always had an easier time conversing with Spaniards than I did I always tried to say things correctly, whereas my friend just said things I would cringe at his grammatical errors, but those errors made no difference from a communication standpoint - his interlocutors always understood him So he would get words out more quickly than I did, and it made communicating easier for him I think this was the Monitor Hypothesis in action Comment from : @humanbeing2420 |

Comment from : @falke555 |

I can teach English and Japanese, looking to trade for Korean! Comment from : @shugyosha7924 |
|
Maybe it varies from person to person, but to me it seems foolish to ignore the advantage we have as adults: we know a lot of things already When you're a baby, people are forced to dumb things down because babies have no reference knowledge Adults already know a lot of things already, so I think it's quite sensible to leverage that knowledge, for example by studying vocab flash cards with translations to your mother tongue That on its own is not going to make you fluent obviously, but for the vocab acquisition part of the equation it's very efficient, and will hugely decrease the barrier for comprehensible input since you will recognise many of the words even if you can't actively use them yet Chinese and Japanese also require this for learning their character sets - you'll be hard pressed learning 2000 symbols "like a baby" because even natives have to study them formally in schools to become literate Comment from : @shugyosha7924 |

I'm currently learning Japanese That would be my third language I speak Spanish natively and learned English years ago 😊 Comment from : @MarlynDeQueen |
