its simple normal brain add 1 + 1 = 2 with words and sentences but the confusion heads think 1 + 1 = 5 with sentences the thing is if your bad at math your bad at everything because the brain calculate the sum of some words and produce an output those who can't do math can''t read and write normal either the brain is normally wired like a calculator but to some people the adder circuit simply either is broken or is missing Comment from : Primodernious

I have mild dyslogia (apparently the correct term for a learning disability but not eve Google recognised it!) I was diagnosed as late as 19, and, it's mild but evident in my struggling to process certain information, and articulate myself in such a way that doesn't confuse people It's maddening and I hate it, because I have SIX creative talents and there's no work where I can use any of them anywhere I went back a year at school to do my GCSEs and still did badly because the teachers didn't know what to do with me Apart from art and music, my grades went from C for English (not the worst) all the way down to F for Maths All my adult life I had endured ignorant arseholes at work calling me an idiot AFTER I told them I had a disability One of my colleagues, an old boss, didn't know, and couldn't even work it OUT Incredible He was so ignorant he couldn't even read the mannerisms I'm sick to the back teeth of putting up with this crap I'm nearly 40 now and I'm 1000 done with the working world I just want to win the lottery so I can quit the rat-race forever, because I never deserved such punishment for something I never did Comment from : Seven Ellen

I've been diagnosed with slight dysfasy at really early age Ever since people I knew treated me different someone special brI hated it so much I detested anything 'special' I forced myself to study away from special school, went in speech and psychotherapy for many years, went off to normal school for 2 years and graduated from HS with slightly lower than moderate approbatur brI still hate it Finding work is really difficult Studies I would want to attend to and professions I wished to learn are always behind the wall "because they cannot trust me because of my dysfasy" brI can do math really quick, I can read and I can speak But there is always something wrong with my speech There aren't even that many professions that match with my grades and doesn't require complex speech patterns, and even if there are it simply doesn't interest me brI cannot help but feel so incredibly hopeless Comment from : Pea Games

I still don't know what's wrong with me, or if there even is anything wrong But I'm 40 and feel like a failure I struggled with school, spending most of it truanting because I was bullied when I was already struggling Everyone around me seemed to churn out work when I was struggling to string sentences together, to find the words, which was even harder to do because I struggled comprehending the work to begin with, half of the time I just copied or tried to reword the workbook just to try and make it look like I knew what I was doing it all was immensely hard Obviously made harder by trying to avoid itbrIve mumbled all through life because I'm not confident speaking, people are always asking me to repeat myself because I don't make sense to them and I'm quiet I just try to get my speaking part out the way asap because I just can't seem to find the words I like to listen but I struggle to follow along It makes me dread conversations I somehow feel like the words might be in there, but I don't know what they are But the comprehension isn't, nor is the knowledgeIm just not bright and I don't know much about anything, clearly But I try, I really do trybrI didn't do well at school College was a repeat, spending most of my time bunking off I did a home course thinking it was the environment previously, it wasn't, and I struggled and quit at that too Things just don't go in, it makes me so frustrated with myself!br8 years later I'm trying again with a course and today it's just about broken me I sat and watched my husband read the same thing as me and understand it right away and break it down into his own words and understanding, straight away, I still needed to re-read it over and over and I still don't get it So I couldn't answer the course questions, again, and I broke down, Why don't I get it!? Seeing him understand it and know I'm nowhere near is horrible, it makes me feel like an idiot That's what I do, spend my life feeling stupid, like a waste of space, I'm depressed How, at my age I've not achieved anything and am completely reliant on my husband I don't know I'm just ashamed I don't know who to turn to for help because I'm embarrassed Part of me thinks I may have a learning disability, part of me thinks I'm just dumb, lazy, and a fraud at life It's hard for all these years to have gone by and now I don't know how to turn it around I want to ask for for help, but if I'm just dumb, then what It's not like a diagnosis will give me an excuse for my failures, but it will at least give me a shred of hope and some comfort knowing I really have tried and it's not all my fault Comment from : N
